nChapter 37 Dance Club’s Invitation Card

nXia Xiaoluo was staring angrily at Fang Ruichen, who sat next to her: you were just good at playing damn basketball; how could you be that arrogant? Fang Ruichen was not easy to deal with, and he was staring at her as well, without admitting he was defeated. They fought with each other through their stares for over three hundred rounds. As for what their class teacher Xue Jingxi said, they did not hear a single word.

nEventually, the class was over. Xia Xiaoluo pushed Fang Ruichen and said, “Hey, excuse me, let me through!”

n“No way!” Fang Ruichen was like a bad guy, looking at her in a provocative way.

nThe rice noodles Xia Xiaoluo had at noon were so spicy and hot, and she took many cold drinks; therefore, she wanted to go to the washroom. However, now there was a wall on her right side, and Fang Ruichen blocked the left: she couldn’t get out at all. Fortunately, she sat in the first row, so she simply jumped over the table and left.

n“Humph!” She gave him a disdainful look and ran to the washroom carelessly.

n“Oh, my…” She exclaimed after answering the call of nature. She didn’t have a close observation of the washroom in the teaching building until then. It was unbelievable that it was so luxurious that the water taps were gilded with sapphires.

nXia Xiaoluo stretched out her hands, and the water came out automatically. The bottle of hand sanitizer beside was full of foreign letters that she didn’t understand, but through its faint fragrance and silky feeling, she could guess that hand sanitizer was very expensive.

nWhen she came back to the classroom, she didn’t ask Fang Ruichen to make way for her, just jumping back to her seat in the same way she got out.

n“Hey, were you born in the Year of the Monkey? Jumping up and down. Not like an amiable girl at all.” Seeing her jumping in and out, Fang Ruichen asked.

n“Hey, were you born in the Year of the Pig? Sitting there still. Not like an energetic boy.” Xia Xiaoluo made her response, for she held the grudge that Fang Ruichen kicked her today.

nFang Ruichen was annoyed. How could she describe him, a master of sports and basketball talent, like that? He couldn’t stand anymore.

n“Look at you! You want to strike back? So narrow-minded. Can’t you stand just a few words?” She squinted at him, seeing him clenching his fist but eventually not strike at her.

nFang Ruichen was about to say something when Xue Jingxi came into the classroom. In the last class, she mainly introduced the regulations of their college and the arrangement of the new campus. In this class, as soon as she went into the classroom, she said, “Now you are all classmates, but most of you don’t know each other. Everybody come to the front and introduce yourself.”

nXue Jingxi looked around the classroom, pointing to the side where Xia Xiaoluo and Fang Ruichen sat, and said, “According to the order, let’s begin from this side.”

nFang Ruichen volunteered to be the first, and then he stood up. His height was 1.9 meters, which immediately evoked girls’ whispering.

n“My name is Fang Ruichen. I’m 18 years old. I’ve been studying in Australia before. Because my Chinese is too poor, my parents sent me here, so that I can learn Chinese better. I love basketball and I admire Jordan the most. I’m not married, and I don’t have a girlfriend. I want to find an amiable and adorable one who likes basketball. This is my phone number.” When he finished, he left his name and phone number on the blackboard.

n“Ugly.” Looking at Fang Ruichen’s poor handwriting, Xia Xiaoluo showed a disdainful expression, but many girls in their class had begun to save the contact information of this unmarried handsome boy who was single.

nWhen Fang Ruichen went back to his seat proudly, it was Xia Xiaoluo’s turn.

nHe didn’t baffle her this time and made way for her.

nXia Xiaoluo was a little bit nervous, but she pretended to be calm and said, “Hello everyone, I’m Xia Xiaoluo. From now on, we are classmates. Nice to meet you.”

nHer introduction was very simple. Compared with Fang Ruichen’s personal ads, hers was just like a tasteless soup.

n“What’s your phone number? Write it on the board!”

n“Xia Xiaoluo, do you have a boyfriend?”

nThese boo and hoot made her a bit embarrassed, and Fang Ruichen shouted, “Xia Xiaoluo is a wild monkey. No boy will like her.”

nThe class sighed, which made her more embarrassed.

n“Okay, Xia Xiaoluo, we’ve known you. Please go back to your seat!” Xue Jingxi let her pass. When Xia Xiaoluo went back to her seat, she carelessly stepped on Fang Ruichen’s foot, making his Jordan sports shoes dirty.

n“You…” Before he finished, Xia Xiaoluo spoke under her breath, “You deserve it!”

nAfter the self-introduction class, few remembered each other’s name and information, but Xia Xiaoluo knew Fang Ruichen, and so did he.

nAfter self-introduction, Xue Jingxi handed over the card for getting textbooks and the timetable. All of them needed to go to their departments and take their books that afternoon. Tomorrow, the courses will officially begin.

nBecause there were so many students, the time to take books was different for every class, which of Xia Xiaoluo’s class was in the third lesson that day. After doing so, it was free time.

nXia Xiaoluo thought the process wouldn’t be too troublesome, but what was out of her expectation was that students in the Chinese Department had to take over twenty textbooks. She just brought a little cross body bag which couldn’t hold all those books at all, and her hands couldn’t do that too.

nLooking around, she found it was easy for boys, and girls also had boyfriends to do that for them as free labors; some even asked school workers to help them.

nAfter a little while, Xia Xiaoluo ran to the teaching building and asked the cleaner for four rubbish bags. Together with these bags, it was sturdier to take the books away. Putting all the books inside the bags, Xia Xiaoluo trudged to the school gate. Since Ling Tianyi didn’t permit her to live on campus, she had to take all those things back home. It was really a heavy work!

nDwichen’s College was the most famous exclusive college in City A, and it was a school for children of high officials and wealthy people, who led a comfortable life, high above the masses. Compared with them, Xia Xiaoluo was so different just in casual wear, carrying her books in rubbish bags.

n“Hello, Xia Xiaoluo! Little Monkey Xia, are you collecting the garbage? Ugh, I think you’re almost like garbage. Your name should be Little Garbage Xia, right? Fang Ruichen didn’t go to get his books in person, but paid a school worker to do that for him.

nHe kept dribbling before her, and eventually hit her forehead with the basketball. Xia Xiaoluo lost her balance; not only did she fell, but her books also dropped on the ground.

n“Fool! Ugly! I knew you had no boyfriend to help you.” Dribbling the ball, Fang Ruichen moved around her.

n“Little turtle, you’re so slow. When can you bring the books back home? I guess even after a ball game, you can’t leave the campus.” After saying that, Fang Ruichen ran and whistled to the basketball court.

n“You are the slow turtle, as stupid and slow as a turtle.” Xia Xiaoluo yelled at his back, while several girls passing by saw her embarrassed look and laughed at her.

nShe didn’t care about the surrounding situation, just packing her books in silence. Suddenly, someone passed her The Rhetoric, and his delicate fingers looked very nice when holding the book.

n“Do you need help?”

nXia Xiaoluo looked up and saw Ouyang Ziqian, an upperclassman.

n“Thank you, Ouyang. I can do it.” Xia Xiaoluo took The Rhetoric over and put it in the rubbish bag.

nOuyang Ziqian smiled, helped her collect the rest of the books, carrying the bag directly, and said, “I think I’d better give you a hand.”

nXia Xiaoluo thought she shouldn’t refuse again, so she nodded, “Thank you.”

n“Why don’t you put those textbooks in your dorm?” He asked with an attractive and pleasing voice.

n“I don’t live on campus, so it’s more convenient for me to take books home.” She answered. When she mentioned that, Ling Tianyi’s tough face came into her mind, so she determined to draw a line of demarcation with the handsome guy in front of her, or she would suffer a lot.

n“Oh, I see! Where do you live? I can give you a lift!” Ouyang Ziqian put it in a very simple way, but Xia Xiaoluo was scared, for if it were known by Ling Tianyi, she would be punished.

n“No need to bother you. Just help me carry the bag to the gate, and I’ll take a cab home.” She didn’t dare to ask a man to give her a lift, especially a handsome man like Ouyang Ziqian.

n“Fine!” Ouyang Ziqian was mild with gentle nature, and he never forced someone to do what he or she didn’t want. He could feel that the little girl was not willing to accept his kindness.

nHe saw her off to the gate, accompanying her waiting for the cab. “You are Xia Xiaoluo, right?”

n“Yes. Ouyang, you’re well-known in the college. All of us know you, but I’m just a freshman. How could you know my name?” Xia Xiaoluo was confused and asked.

n“In Dwichen’s, there’s nothing I don’t know.” Although he was very proud of himself, he said with a faint but warm smile.

n“Xia Xiaoluo, I’m the president of FLY Dance Club. I noticed you’re a gifted dancer. As the president, I invite you to join FLY Dance Club. If you want to, you can register at any time before next Tuesday. There’s an address on the invitation card.” Saying this, he handed an invitation card to her.

nBefore she refused, Ouyang Ziqian interrupted her and said, “You have time to think about it.”

n“Oh!” Putting the card away, Xia Xiaoluo said, “Ouyang, the cab is coming. Got to go.”

n“OK, take care.” Helping her put the books in the cab, Ouyang Ziqian waved goodbye to her.

n“Bye-bye, I’ve got to go. Go home early and take a good rest!” She said in the cab with a lovely sunny smile.

nSitting in the cab, she looked at FLY Dance Club’s invitation card carefully; in fact, she would like to join the dance club. Xia Xiaoluo loved dancing when she was young, and she was the backbone in the field of art in her high school. She was just the unlucky one who was good at everything but study.

nHowever, even if she wanted to join the dance club, would her autocratic husband agree?

n
