Chapter 407 - The Turtle Breastplate

nThe greaves he had chosen were actually both the same in appearance (for the most part), sleek metal with runes as decorations and function. With the runes visibly being different, and also the only difference between the two. Both were Tier 2 but they fit well and after fastening them Eldrian forgot about them within just a few minutes.
nThe one would increase his strength by 40 points for 10 seconds and the other his agility, both had 15 minutes cooldown but had no cost which was nice.
nTier 2 Magical Greaves (Aristera)
nArmor: 28
nAttribute requirements met
nActive Ability: Strengthen; Increases the user's strength by 40 points for 10 seconds.
nCD: 15 minutes

nTier 2 Magical Greaves (Sosta)
nArmor: 28
nAttribute requirements met
nActive Ability: Speeden; Increases the user's agility by 40 points for 10 seconds.
nCD: 15 minutes
nFinally, the breastplate. The only Tier 4 piece Eldrian had chosen, with good reason. He was only allowed one and this one felt like a must. Where all the others covered areas that weren't of much importance (outside of the helmet of course) the breastplate covered the entire chest, stomach, and back area.
nEldrian had gotten used to armor and he had realized the limitations of Diorila (His current chestplate, only covering the chest area in front). However, comfort and mobility were still important and thus Eldrian had tried every piece on before deciding.
nTier 4 Magical Breastplate (Chelona)
nArmor: 46
nMagical Armor: 36
nAttribute requirements met: Strength: 172 ; Agility: 152 ; Intelligence: 168 ; Spirit: 180
nPassive ability: Calm of mind; Resistance to mental attacks and influences increased by 25% (Resistance is determined by spirit).
nActive Abilities:
nTurtle (Activatable passive): Life is precious, so why risk anything?
nUpon activating the ability, takes 25% of the user's current mana. Turns 15% into MR, and 10% into AR. However, also slows the user by 12%.
nDamage stopped by the extra AR and MR will drain the user's mana equivalent to the damage.
nThis ability was simply insane. If Eldrian used it at the start of a battle the armor would suddenly gain over a 100 more armor and nearly 70 MR, which was enough to stop nearly anything Eldrian knew of. Especially with how damage worked.
nThe only thing that sucked was that it was limited to the armor, however, the next ability had that covered.
nShield: Life is precious, so why leave it unguarded?
nUpon activation, surrounds the target and increased their natural MR and AR by taking 2% of their current mana. (They have to know about it beforehand and know what to expect and handle it.) The total cost to target is 4% of their current mana.
nCost: 25MP to cast, plus if cast on self, will instead take 3% current MP for a total of 6%. Shield also increases respectively.
nLasts: 30 seconds
nCD: 30 minutes
nDamage stopped by the extra AR and MR will drain the user's mana equivalent to the damage.
nThis was the most insane thing Eldrian had ever seen. He had little to no plan of using it on others since he had no idea how that would even work. However, if he used it on himself he would gain around 20 AR and MR. This was by no means a small amount and would make most Tier 2 and Tier 1 spells ineffective against him. Even many Tier 3 spells would become useless.
nHeck, the strongest spell Eldrian knew was Velona Pagetou, the Tier 2 of Frost Needle that had 3 icicles instead of just one (but they were clustered together and he had yet to manage to split them).
nThis spell only did 22 ice damage, meaning that with this ability he could effectively take no damage from it.
n'This is a little busted honestly,' Eldrian thought with a wide smile as he changed into his new breastplate and finally was fully dressed in his new protection. He felt truly good about the breastplate, it was just what he needed. A way to survive and allow him to think.
nWith a wide smile, Eldrian followed Katania who took him to one of the reception desks where the clerk immediately handed her a piece of paper.
n
"Here are the details of the mission the king mentioned. I believe it will be most acceptable.
" Katania said, expecting that Eldrian knew that the centaur with a deep green coat was the king. And seeing no surprise on hearing this she confirmed that he knew.
nTaking the page Eldrian read through and his smile grew as it indeed was a good quest. The king was certainly not trying to trick or skimp them.
n
"I am sure they will agree,
" Eldrian said as he received the system notification. The greatest part was that it was an individual quest, which meant the difficulty rank should be correct. And while it was individual, he could invite others.
nThe rewards would be shared between all, however, the XP would still be rewarded to each it seemed.
nNew Quest: Fighting back
nQuest Giver: Farest, king of Taurus
nQuest Rank: Split into parts, average of SS rank. Highest SSS
nQuest Description: The kingdom has found a way to fight against the undead, a way to push back their corruption. Take up arms and help them combat the horror of the undead.

nQuest Part 4 Reward: Steel Emblem (10 Gold) for every area cleared, an area is considered a grouping of 5 to 10 trees in a 25-meter area.
nCompletion Reward: 5 Gold Emblem (250 Gold), 5 levels
nThe rewards were beyond generous, but so too was the danger. Eldrian assumed that the ideal for the kingdom and what the king was hoping for was that they would be taken by greed and try to accomplish all 4 parts.
nLetting the soldiers focus on defense and resting while the Chosen kept clearing the forest and very likely repeatedly dying.
n'However, I can't really say it won't be worth it. Unless you lose a piece of equipment.' Luckily, magic-grade armor didn't often drop on death. Instead, they dematerialized similar to how players did when logging out. Appearing in their inventory safe and sound.. However, that is only if they are bounded to their equipment.
