Chapter 303: Five People

The boring and monotonous days time flew by day after day. For Grimm, it was as if he had undergone a thorough mental cleansing and achieved spiritual sublimation. In silence, he started experiencing a higher state of consciousness.

A hundred years later, at the Prison of the Seven Rings.

“Caw caw caw, my young master, it seems that today is the final day you’ll be serving at the Prison of the Seven Rings. After spending a hundred years here, do you have anything in mind you would like to say?”

Myna flew to the front of Grimm’s face and asked cheekily.

A subtle smile broke across Grimm’s calm face, which was covered by a head of messy, blonde hair.

With the exception of Grimm’s mind, his entire body was completely immobilised, encased within a gigantic metal metal sphere. That was unless he made use of Myna’s ability, the Spacetime Coordinate Access to break the seal.

The metal sphere was connected to six chains that hung it in mid-air within the sorcery-subduing room.

The worst punishment for a sorcerer would be wasting away his time meaninglessly. This was further exacerbated by the lack of freedom of movement, as well as the mind-breaking loneliness within the half-sealed Prison of the Seven Rings. Grimm’s experience was slightly better with the accompaniment of Myna, who brought a slight sense of joy and relief to him.

The Spacetime Coordinate Access between Grimm and Myna was completely unhindered by the sorcery-subduing system held in place against Grimm. Myna had complete freedom moving to and fro via the Dimensional Gap to Grimm’s side.

Perhaps, through the hundred years spent in prison, Grimm had come to realize the true meaning of what a soulmate was.

It felt like an intertwining fate, a bond that transcended familial connection.

Grimm’s gaze now carried the stability and maturity of a true sorcerer, which was the vision of higher-level lifeforms. Silently, Grimm muttered under his breath, “I really want to take a nice, hot bath for once.”

One day later.

Clang! Rumble…

The sound of grinding gears that Grimm was patiently awaiting to hear for a hundred years had finally arrived. Myna, who was taking a nap on the metal chain was awakened by the sudden noise. In a hurry, he fell off the chain and dove into the Dimensional Gap.

Thud!

The great door to the sorcery-subduing chamber opened up and in walked a young female devotee, clasping a contract scroll in her hands, the scroll containing Grimm’s judgment a hundred years ago.

This sorceress had long, brown hair. She wore a neutral colored sorcerer’s robe, and had malt-colored skin. Overall, she seemed to be gentle and kind.

A slight smile broke across her face as she announced, “Congratulations, your time here is coming to an end. You will finally regain your freedom. Over the course of a hundred years, there were five Demon-Hunter Sorcerers that came to inquire about you.”

‘Five people?’

Grimm nodded his head and replied solemnly, “Thank you.”

The sorceress stopped talking and held onto the scroll as she patiently waited for the hundred-year sentence to pass by completely.

Roughly half an hourglass later.

The will of the Seven Rings cast a ripple around the sheepskin scroll, which the sorceress was holding. Immediately upon seeing this, the sorceress said to Grimm while smiling, “Grimm, you have now gained your freedom and a new life awaits you.”

The sorceress then pasted the sheepskin scroll onto the half-seal metal sphere in which Grimm was held.

Squeak…

Grimm felt the sturdy, metal sphere that sealed him off for an entire century suddenly turn into what seemed like a ball of water, which almost drowned out his weak, powerless body.

A ripple appeared underneath the metal sphere, through which Grimm fell onto the ground.

“Ugh…”

Even as Grimm tried to struggle and break his fall, his body was too frail. There was a distance of at least three meters between the ground and the metal sphere, and Grimm’s listless body slammed straight into the ground from that height.

At the moment, Grimm was like a newborn child, helpless and vulnerable.

It was at this moment that the Force of Nature dragged Grimm along the floor.

This was the doing of the sorceress standing close by Grimm. Perhaps it was in an effort to cover up the sorry sight of Grimm. At the same time, she produced a sorcerer’s robe and handed it over to Grimm. Everything happened so naturally, as if she had done this countless times before.

Trying his absolute best, Grimm put on the sorcerer’s robe with his trembling hands.

Grimm felt that every cell in his body was like a starving wolf, desperately absorbing the Force of Nature from his surroundings, consolidating it into Magic Power.

After a while, Grimm, who was squatting in mid-air finally regained a handful of stamina, a handful of magic power. Gradually, he tried standing on his own two feet. Stepping forward one step after the other, he slowly made his way out of the sorcery-subduing chamber.

The sorceress followed closely behind Grimm, monitoring his condition as he walked.

Although the route back from the prison wasn’t long, it nearly took Grimm an hourglass to complete. He panted as large beads of sweat broke across his forehead, dripping down his face.

Even so, Grimm gritted his teeth and was adamant about finishing the whole journey by himself. He walked slowly towards the freedom he regained after serving his time in prison. The sorceress patiently trailed behind Grimm as he did so.

As of now, Grimm’s state was extremely weak.

Finally, a ray of sunlight from the Sorcerer World hit Grimm’s pale white skin. In a fit of extreme excitement, Grimm was propped up by the sorceress behind him.

“Grimm!”

“Grimm.”

“Grimm…”

Grimm weakly raised his head to look at the five people waiting for him outside the prison. They were Millie, Mina, Claudia, Solumn and… Wicky!

The Sun Child Mina, and the Ice Age Millie.

This pair of sisters shared a long history with Grimm, which made sense to Grimm for them to visit him.

Mina’s crimson hair fluttered in the air as her pure, flaming eyes remain fixated on Grimm. The once renowned spoiled brat during their apprenticeship days was now a devotee donning a low-key sorcerer’s robe. Her fiery temper now greatly turned down to just a candlewick’s flame.

Millie was the polar opposite of Mina. As her sister, Millie had a much more sedated personality.

She and Grimm once embarked on the same expedition in the Shadow Enigmatic World, in which Grimm once saved her from the grips of death. It was from there that they forged a rare camaraderie between Dark Sorcerers.

Underneath the strands of silver-white hair, Millie’s crystalline eyes bore hints of joy as she stood beside her sister looking at Grimm.

As for the other three people.

Still with that enchanting, seductive figure, Claudia wore a playful smile on her face. A short skirt embroidered with a red scorpion covered only the essential parts of her mysterious body, which made her seem all the more like a succubus.

During the Holy Tower Apex Battle, it was her and Grimm’s contract that allowed him to triumph in the five arenas. This helped Grimm secure his grip on the World Fragment that was awarded to the top apprentice among his batch by the Holy Tower of the Seven Rings.

However, Grimm came to instinctively despise this infamous sorceress.

And yet today…

Grimm flashed a smile towards Millie and Mina as he nodded to greet them. Similarly, he greeted this once notorious, yet bright sorceress. The friendly gesture was quickly met with a genuinely joyful gaze.

Solumn. This man and the Fake Nameless Sorcerer both had huge impacts on Grimm’s life. He was the man that possessed the greatest ability during their apprenticeship days, the “Immortal Body”.

Grimm once theorized that his “Immortal Body” ability, was a result of accidentally merging with a creature from the Spectral World, which explains his extreme weakness towards any seal-like abilities.

He too, had extreme levels of intellect.

As a Dark Sorcerer grows, the group of friends around him would inevitably grow smaller in number, and the form of communication between them would become more and more simple.

However, the Dark Sorcerer that stood before him, Solumn, had long begun his quest of making a large network of friends in an effort to make up for his shortcomings in the future.

Clad in a black sorcerer’s robe, Solumn had completely drowned out the stale, awkward air that once existed between them. Instead, he smiled and greeted Grimm, “Grimm, congratulations on starting anew.”

Grimm smiled at him and weakly said, “Thank you.”

Lastly, Grimm shifted his gaze towards “Earth Heart” Wicky. This was the guy that also developed his own complex system of sorcery back during the Holy Tower’s Apex Battle.

With a big, burly figure like a granite pillar, Wicky was like a pygmy giant from a foreign world when standing beside the other four people.

He had a pair of long ears, protruding cheekbones as well as a rough layer of stubble beneath his chin. His gaze was smoldering and on his jet black hair he wore a golden crown. The kilt he once wore around his waist was now replaced with a metal suit of armor.

Wicky had an astonishingly large hammer slung around his back. He mumbled, “I have thought long and hard, and you were the only one that came to mind who was suited to traverse the underground abyss with me. After all, you are an excellent Anatomy Refinery Sorcerer. However, your crystal ball indicated that you went into the Prison of the Seven Rings, leaving me to explore the place myself. Now that I’m back, I’m here to see you.”

Grimm said regretfully, “I too was excited to explore the underground abyss together…”

As Millie and Claudia took over supporting Grimm’s weak body from the young sorceress, Grimm flashed a smile towards this brown-haired devotee.

“Thank you. I didn’t realize you were so mesmerizing.”

The young sorceress was taken aback for a moment, before she revealed an innocent smile.

“And I thought Dark Sorcerers were all icy-cold. Thanks for the compliment, but I am not planning to see anyone at the moment.”

Flying forwards from Millie and Claudia’s support, Grimm replied in a hushed voice, “Me too.”

Solumn led the way and announced to the group: “I have already placed reservations for a table in Flavortown. Let’s all celebrate Grimm’s new chance at life…”
