Chapter 399 - Alastair

Alastair, Isabelle, and Grimm were taking a stroll around the Onyx Snail breeding farm.

“Eh? Grimm, is this your soul partner? I can’t believe that it is a Steel Emblem Myna from ancient times, it looks very beautiful,” Isabelle said with a smile.

She paused for a while and looked at the Myna with her smile, her eyes wide open, then there was a quick space fluctuation when she took out a magic stone from her bracelet.

Grimm was struck by what he saw and slightly raised the corner of his eyebrow, it was a precious Dimensional Apparatus.

Again, it was time to feed the Myna with magic stones.

“Although I am glad that you were able to recognize my reputable status of a Steel Emblem Myna, but remove the stone from my sight, I am not eating that, that little guy behind you has driven me mad!”

Lord Myna shouted with dissatisfaction while he stood on Grimm’s shoulder.

“Alright, alright, alright, I’ll take that little guy away.”

Isabelle seemed to have a good temper as she was attracted by the beautiful appearance of the Myna, then she suddenly asked, “Have you ever tried the Onyx Snails here?”

“Huh?”

The Myna looked at the giant snails that were about half a meter in size, slowly feeding on grass, the Myna asked, “Are they edible? Are they… delicious?”

“Of course!”

Isabelle replied with a smile, “Do you want to try?”

Slurp.

The Myna looked at the glossy and transparent flesh under the shell of the snails, while he imagined himself enjoying the taste of the snails, he could not resist drooling.

“Alright, I’ll accept your sincere invitation and forgive you.”

The Myna flew from Grimm’s shoulder onto Isabelle’s hand, while Isabelle smiled and ordered the horseman who was guarding the fence of the breeding farm, “Open the fence.”

“Yes!”

Clearly, the horseman recognized the nobility of Isabelle and immediately dropped the feed that he was holding and ran towards the fence to open it.

Isabelle looked at the Myna who was on her palm and said, “Take a look and see which better suits your taste.”

Meanwhile.

Grimm was walking alongside Alastair at the same pace, both of them were recognized as the outstanding ones among the official sorcerers, as hundreds of years have passed, they have now taken different paths in life.

Alastair had now become an earnest and trustworthy person, he was wearing gemstones all over his luxurious outfit, combined with a golden crown on top of his head, and his skin tone was fair and smooth, as if every inch of his body was precisely groomed; Grimm had seen the true representation of rule and authority from him.

Similar to what a lower level sorcerer would do, he would declare high-level missions by leveraging his resources, and he would hire high-level sorcerers to complete the missions according to his own will!

The gemstones on the outfit of Alastair was definitely more than mere accessories.

Grimm was amazed by the unrestricted magical fluctuations of Alastair that was spiking, although he had his Sabbatic Goat Staff, Mandala Sorcerer Robes, as well as the Mask of Truth; however, the fluctuations of Alastair’s magical tools were far greater!

This guy…

Grimm’s outfit was a huge contrast, similar to what most sorcerers would wear, a loose sorcerer robe combined with a staff; although his mask was covering his eyes making him seem abstruse, mysterious and wise, he was still merely a sorcerer among tens of thousands of sorcerers and it was difficult to distinguish him among all the others.

“Hehe, let me tell you, Grimm, I was told that I was about to be penalized by the household-rules as I had neglected my duty to serve an honorable guest who is a Demon-Hunter that has a Rank-1 Honor Badge.”

Alastair made a joke while he fiddled with the ring on his ring finger, turning it in a circular motion, the ring had a bright red gemstone on it.

Grimm gasped in laughter under his mask while he followed Alastair to visit the area.

He had now gained knowledge and found out the true power of Sorcerer Coins.

“What is this?”

Grimm asked while he pointed far ahead towards a plant that was similar to bamboo, it was about seven to eight meters tall.

There was a strange smell coming from the plant, although it might be a weird smell for humans, but Grimm was familiar with the “Scent Archives” and he knew that it was an illusion from the smell.

“Oh, this is the Sulphuric Grass, the family would use them to produce consumable enigmatic smoke that is in high demand among the rulers from the world that are ruled by voltaic elemental creatures; in return, a lot of local precious resources or sorcerer coins are obtained during the trading.”

After his explanation, he raised his hand that was covered with luxurious sleeves and waved across the wide Onyx Snail breeding farm to gather up all of the Sulphuric Grass on the farm.

“These two manors are being handled by Bell, which she inherited from her father; and produce from the manor are in high demand among the foreign worlds.”

After saying such, Alastair pointed towards the wide manor ahead and added, “I went to explore the World Tree a few hundred years ago; and upon my return, I discovered a new product which had performed well; therefore, the family is planning to expand the products on my end with full force.”

The World Tree was also known as the World of Tree, it was one of the widely known worlds among the Sorcerers Coalition.

The entire world was supported by the foundation of a giant tree, and it was the center point of all life forms that existed in the world.

Grimm was thinking about the tree, could it be a World Core that has mutated?

Nothing was impossible in the endless world.

Generally, the World Tree had already achieved an unbelievable level of life power; to the extent of being widely known among the Sorcerers Coalition as well as some of the sorcerer-apprentices.

Of course, the powerful World of Tree would also have its limitations, and it could never truly enter into other worlds.

“Oh?”

Grimm was interested as he was led by Alastair towards another manor that was far ahead.

There were giant balloon airships that would frequently fly across the sky above and cover the land with huge shadows as they passed by.

Regardless of the hot summer season in the Holy Tower of Seven Rings of the Sorcerer World, the manor on the other end was being supported and protected by a layer of giant protection barrier that was constantly regulating extremely cold temperature within it.

The ground was fully layered by ores that were being wrapped by soft-bodied creatures that seemed like jellies, and they were feeding on the ores.

“Hmm, they are the creatures that release life breath and their excretions are highly sought after by some of the spirits from the World Tree. However, the products that I produce from these excretions are merely cheap ores that are easily found in another world.”

Alastair mocked himself and shook his head.

“Excluding the cost of transportation, I could easily turn these produce into hundred folds of profits just by a simple change of hands; hence, these are one of the most profitable products for the family.”

Profit of a hundred fold!

Grim was in disbelief as he asked, “The return profit is unbelievably high.”

Although Grimm was a sorcerer that did not have any experience in trading; however, he could imagine that the high rate of return could easily seduce sorcerers to give up on their discovery of the journey of truth and choose to involve themselves in such trading.

Alastair looked at Grimm and continued on, “However, ninety eight folds from the profits will be deducted once it passes through the delivery gate of the world of Holy Towers; by then, it would only be a doubled profit.”

At that moment, Alastair made a joke out of himself.

“For once, I thought that the secret to move the world’s law was under my control; however, in the end, I realized that this is merely an insignificant part of the law that was being developed by the great Celestial Sorcerer. Regardless of the massive amount of profits that were being gathered by a family, they would only be completing the subsequent work required to be done after expanding the trading law of Holy Towers in the foreign worlds, I think… I made a wrong decision.”

Grimm was shocked by what he said and he looked at Alastair.

This guy, he once had the vision to change the world’s law between sorcerers by just utilizing beneficial resources?

From the view of a normal human being, it would be feasible if the Sorcerer World was based on simple contract law; but, in reality…

However, the Celestial Sorcerer ruled the world with the oppressive energy from their higher life stage, and it was not because of any other reason.

“Tell me, after all these years, what brings you here all of a sudden? I am sure that I did not suddenly come into your mind, as I am just an Arcane Sorcerer that is full of resources and it does not affect you; not to mention you are now a Demon-Hunter that holds a Rank-1 Honor Badge that has high authority in demon hunting expeditions.”

Alastair had led Grimm around the three manors that were under the governance of him and his wife for two hourglasses, when he finally voiced out his curiosity.

It was indeed a norm among the behavior of Dark Sorcerers.

Grimm looked at Alastair and sounded serious and deep as he replied, “I wish to make a deal with you.”

“What kind of deal?”

Alastair asked Grimm who was bowing in silence, not knowing how to express himself.

Alastair frowned and asked, “Let me put it this way, what can you offer me; and what do you need from me?”

Grimm nodded and replied, “By leveraging on my Rank-1 Honor Badge, I have access to the information channel of the battle command from the Void Fortress, and I will provide you with a copy of the world’s information from every demon-hunting expedition. As time goes by, combined with your wisdom; you will be able to find yourself a huge amount of return.”

Grimm paused for a while before he continued, “While I would need your full support in terms of resources during my mission to qualify as a Stigmata Sorcerer, which is to nurture and reproduce normal human beings in a large scale.”

“You…”

Alastair pointed at Grimm.

“You are still a Level-1 sorcerer now, and you have already started your plans on becoming a Stigmata Sorcerer! How do you know you will be qualified…”

Alastair frowned and stared at Grimm as he was in utter disbelief, and continued to mumble to himself, “Wasn’t this once said by the master, the forward-looking wisdom that would move the law? Sacrificing a small amount of benefit at this moment to uncap an unlimited advantage in the future!”
