Chapter 118

n“I understand. Let’s talk in the study. Natasha, call us if anything happens.”

nAurora tried to open the study door but her short arms were unable to reach. Fortunately, the assassin saw her trying to open it and decided to help.

nAurora had to keep her temper in check the whole time. She knew she had needed the help but she had wanted it from the man.

nBut she had to constantly remind herself that this was her own good. She had to stay put and deal with her current circumstances.

n“Lord Blain, are you not worried that I am a kid you have to serve? Surely you have questions for me?”

nAurora was burning with curiosity from a while back. Thinking back at it, the assassin had approached her and not Natasha.

n“Lord Karan vouched for you. He said that you were like a sister to him and were capable. Seeing you, I would have to agree. You have a certain charm about you that cannot be ignored.”

nAurora felt her blood stop cold. Blain’s words made it sound like he knew something he should not have.

nIf that was the case then Aurora would have no choice but to kill him off. Oath or not oath, Aurora would not risk her life like that.

n“Do not fear me, my lady. As a noble, my chances of encountering a goddess are much higher. As such, I can say for sure that you have some kind of divinity inside you but I can also see that you do not want this information to leak out.”

nAh, Aurora should not have worried so much about this topic.

nAurora had been so caught up in all this that she had forgotten that demi-gods and lower divinity existed. And it seems like Aurora was being mistaken for such a case.

nDid noble Blain think of Aurora as a minor goddess under Lord Karan’s protection? It was a good cover for now.

nAurora could use it.

n“I see that you understand. So please make sure that this information does not leak out. And also, please tell me the news you were about to tell me initially.”

n“Of course my lady. The news I was about to tell you is….”

n===========================

nAurora exited the room with a headache. She could not believe all she had heard inside that room.

nBut she was also thankful for Blain’s insight in telling her this without anyone around.

nAurora had not expected the truth behind the Northern Republic’s nobility to be this grim. But human greed had no end and this was a classic example.

n“Thank you, sir Blain. This information will certainly prove to be useful in the future. It seems like we will have to change our plans now.”

nAurora had wanted to get out of the Northern Republic without making a big fuss. That would have been for the best.

nBut if Natasha was a clone of the original princess, then that changed things. The Northern Republic would not leave Natasha alone.

nAnd they might even make another clone of her out of desperation and declare her the princess.

nThe new clone will not have any powers or memories of this Natasha but it will be a strong tool in the nobility’s hand. And the nobility could keep on doing this until Natasha died or something.

nThe only way to solve this problem will be to destroy all the material related to cloning and such from the Northern Republic.

n“Do you have any idea where they could have stored all this material? It would have to be the palace since they need to keep an eye on the operation.”

nAurora’s conclusion was logical. The lab had to be in the palace somewhere but narrowing down the location will be a hard task.

nNot to mention, Aurora was running out of time. She could not help but feel like she had to hurry back.

n“Unfortunately, I do not have any location in mind where such a thing could have taken place. I’ve only been here for a few days but there are certain areas I do not have access to.”

n“That makes sense. But let’s look around anyway. Natasha, you can come in now.”

nAurora opened the door to let the princess inside.

nSince the real talk had finished already, there was no harm in the princess participating. The main reason Aurora’s talk had to be kept secret was because of Natasha’s origins.

nBut when Aurora opened the door, no one was outside. Natasha seemed to have disappeared in thin air.

n“Shit. Was she taken? We need to find her right now ”

nAurora felt her heart beat inside her chest painfully. She could not help but feel like this was all her fault. How could she have left Natasha alone in this corridor without protection?

n“Don’t panic, my lady. I will look for Lady Natasha. Since we have contacted each other, I can feel her location. You should head toward the base where you were about to meet your comrades. I will make my way there.”

nAurora did not want to agree.

nBut she also knew that she would not be able to do much in her current body. She was weak and helpless after all.

n“Lord Blain, I hate to say this but I’ll be leaving this matter in your hands. If you run into my companions, enlist their help and be careful. I will meet you at the end point of our journey.”

nAurora felt the words taste bitter inside her mouth. She had not been this useless ever since she had traveled back in time.

nBut her small body and lack of capabilities did make her a hindrance. She had been so limited that she had not even noticed when Natasha had slipped off without her notice.

nThis was not something that could have happened to her if she was normal. It all happened because Aurora had been cursed into her kid form.

n“I understand my lady. Also, it is not your fault. I was the one who let my guard down so I am to be blamed.”

n“I understand.”

nBut that did not mean Aurora agreed with the assassin. She was responsible for her actions after all.

n“You heard all that Alexander? Now you can come out and we can exchange our pieces of information.”

nAurora called out the man she had felt hiding a while ago. Her system had informed her of his presence as soon as he had been close enough to sense.

n“The information I have is similar to what you got from that noble. It seems we have a lot to uncover here.”

n
