Chapter 148 - Taking Advantage - Part 2
n
nAurora had only wanted to issue a warning to the trash that was eying her and Natasha. But somehow, Aurora had ended up taking care of everyone in a short amount of time.
nAnd now she had a dozen of people tied up together and at her mercy.
n“P-Please let us go. I don’t know what we did to displease you my lady but I can assure you that it was not our intention. Please believe our words and let us go.”
nThe temporary leader of the captured party pleaded with Aurora for the third time. His voice sounded scared and genuinely sorry.
nHad it not been for Aurora’s ability to be able to sense his aura, she would have been convinced of his acting as well.
nBut as things stood, Aurora was sure she could not trust this man and his subordinates.
n“Hmmm. Just because you did not do anything bad yet does not mean I was not aware of what you were planning to do with us. I can see the desire for money and power in your eyes. Tell me, were you going to sell us?”
nAurora had seen her fair share of such scums in her travels. Most of the time they left her alone when she displayed her powers and went after the much weaker prey.
nBut some daring people did try to mess with her despite her show of power. And this person’s aura screamed crazy and power hungry.
n“O-Of course not, my lady. I would never think of harming you at all.”
nThe man was pleading for his life now. Aurora could see tears straining his cheek and his breath getting labored. But Aurora refused to feel sorry for such scum.
n“I see. But you see, I don’t believe you. And because I don’t believe you, I will be putting you under inspection. I will mark you so that you will not be able to carry out any bad deals.”
nAurora had learned her lesson after Alexander and modified her system to enable it to carry out surveillance without providing access to any other functions.
n“W-What did you say, my lady? S-Surely you jest?”
nThe man had gone pale as soon as he had heard Aurora’s words but he soon regained his true colors back. Aurora could see that he did not believe her word.
nSo she quickly cast the magic and restricted the man’s moments. Her work here was done and she could feel the man trying to escape her magic but to no avail.
n“Listen here. You brought this pain on yourself by going against us. So don’t bother escaping my clutches now. Just lay low and look for the information I asked you to look into.”
nThe man nodded in fear. He had recognized his position and has accessed that he was in no position to ask questions either.
nAurora wanted to pat the man at his sensibility but she did not want to contaminate her hands with his filth.
nThe man fled in a hurry before Natasha even returned from his subordinate’s tent.
n“Did you let that man go?”
nNatasha’s first words after coming out of the tent were filled with fury. Natasha had initially been against Aurora’s decision to only punish the head and not his subordinates but her current state told Aurora that she had come around.
n“Most of the people here are this man’s slaves and were under the control of magic. They will be alright in a bit.”
nAurora nodded once Natasha finished her report. It was not difficult to tell why the man had turned to the demon to get support in his situation.
nThe deeper you went into the abyss, the more intelligent the beasts became. Without overwhelming power and experience, the only way to survive the deeper floors was to make a deal with the devil.
n“I-I am sorry I made that deal. B-But I did not have a choice in-”
n“Save your breath. I don’t care why you made the deal or who you used it on. But you made a mistake when you targeted us. And since you tried to use me, it is time I use you in return.”
nAurora was not a saint. She did not care that the man had just been sued before and was about to be used again by her.
nAs long as Aurora got her purpose solved, she did not care much about how it was done.
n“W-What do you want me to do?”
nFor the first time, the man sounded truly terrified for his life. Maybe he thought he would be sacrificed to a demon just like he had tried to sacrifice Aurora.
n“Nothing much. I just want you to gather some information for me. People like you have a lot of connections all over the night market so I’m sure it would be easy for you to collect information as well as funds for me.”
nThe man paled even more at Aurora’s words.
n“I c-can not do that openly. I will be caught if I did that.”
n“Oh? Then I am sure the tower will appreciate a report on all the illegal acts you committed. I have a lot I want to tell them after all.”
nAnd the pale man went white. Of course, small incidents like this were not the one tower was overly concerned about. But that did not mean they would not take advantage of it if they could help it.
nThe man was as good as **ed as soon as his true colors had escaped to the outside world.
n“I-I understand. Of course, I will cooperate with you, my lady. You can leave everything up to me.”
nThe man sounded desperate to keep his deeds a secret. This fear was good for Aurora since she could use it to further her agenda.
n“Good boy. Then, I am sure you will do well. Remember, if you even think of betraying me then you will be handed over to the tower and I will wash my hands off your case. I have a lot of evidence against you.”
nThe man seemed to have believed Aurora. She could see the resignation in his expression as well as the desire to live. This man will go well under her as long as he had a desire to live.
n“Natasha, we are done here. Let’s go and catch up with those other two before something did end up happening.”
nNatasha looked amused at the turn of events but she did not complain. She had no more reason to stop around and play either.
nOn the other side, Rita picked up speed to keep up with Damina and his kidnappers.
n
