Chapter 5 - May I Come In?
n
n
nIn Fang Ya's impression, her stepmother was a woman who was good at dressing up and always tidied herself up.
nAlthough Fang Ya had a bad relationship with her stepmother, she had to admit that her stepmother, Shao Xiang, carried herself like the ideal lady.
nHowever, when she saw Shao Xiang with disheveled hair and a dirty face, Fang Ya was truly shocked.
nShao Xiang had not expected to see Fang Ya again. After the initial shock, she felt even more embarrassed.
nTang Tang pulled Fang Ya's hand and said,
"Mom, can we go into your house?
"
nTang Tang's words made Shao Xiang notice the little girl next to Fang Ya.
nShe was a little girl who looked obedient and smart.
nShe had inherited all of Fang Ya's strengths and not any of her father's genes.
nFang Ya looked at Shao Xiang and asked after a long while,
"Can... We come in?
"
nShao Xiang did not expect Fang Ya to make such a request. She was stunned for a moment before she said,
"Of course.
"
nShe stood aside and let Fang Ya lead her daughter in.
nFang Ya walked into this familiar yet alien home. She looked around and stood in place without moving.
nShao Xiang placed the basin in her hand to the side and said,
"You guys sit...
"
nFang Ya nodded and pulled Tang Tang to sit on the small couch by the side.
nTang Tang looked at Shao Xiang curiously, as if she wanted to see who this person at her mother's house was.
n
"This is... your daughter?
" asked Shao Xiang as she looked at Tang Tang, who blinked in return.
n
"Yes...
" Fang Ya nodded and then said to Tang Tang,
"Call...
"
nShe hesitated for a moment and then said,
"Call her Mrs. Fang!
"
nShao Xiang smiled bitterly. She naturally knew that her relationship with Fang Ya was not good enough for Fang Ya's daughter to address her as her grandmother.
nBack then, for the sake of her son's marriage, she had not hesitated to sell Fang Ya to Tang Fu. It was natural for Fang Ya to hate her.
nMoreover, her son and daughter-in-law had chased her out. What right did she have to ask Fang Ya to treat her better?
nLooking at the bitter expression on Shao Xiang's face, Fang Ya pondered for a moment before getting straight to the point.
n
"I want my mother's belongings back,
" Fang Ya said bluntly.
nShao Xiang was stunned for a moment, then she nodded.
n
"Okay! Wait for me!
"
nShao Xiang walked into her room and took out a small box from a cabinet.
nThis was her last remaining property, and it was also the property that she did not dare to dispose of privately.
nShe knew that Fang Ya would one day come and take back her mother's memento.
nShe had already snatched away the happiness of Fang Ya's father and Fang Ya's future. This memento was what Fang Ya was rightfully owed!
nFang Ya looked at Shao Xiang holding a small box and wiping the non-existent dust off, treating it like treasure.
n
"Take a look...
"Shao Xiang said and handed the small box to Fang Ya.
nFang Ya stood up and took the small box. She opened the lock and saw her mother's memento placed safely inside.
nIt was a pair of pure gold earrings and a pair of finely made pure gold bracelets.
nFang Ya looked at the mementos, and her eyes immediately became moist.
n
"Keep them well!
" Shao Xiang said, looking at Fang Ya with slight tenderness in her eyes.
n
"All these years... I've let you down!
" Shao Xiang said sincerely.
nFang Ya covered the box and said earnestly,
"Thank you.
"
nShao Xiang did not expect to hear Fang Ya's thanks, and her eyes also turned red.
nTang Tang looked at Shao Xiang curiously.
"Mrs. Fang, what's wrong?
"
nShao Xiang wiped her already slightly wet eyes.
"I'm happy.
"
nTang Tang looked back and forth between Shao Xiang and Fang Ya with a dubious look.
nFang Ya suddenly remembered that Shao Xiang had died of a sudden heart attack in her previous life.
nShe looked at Shao Xiang and asked sincerely,
"Are you... okay?
"
n
"Are you feeling unwell?
" she asked as she looked at Shao Xiang's slightly skinny appearance.
nShao Xiang's tears finally rolled down from the corner of her eyes.
nShe shook her head and said,
"I'm fine... I'm fine...
"
nTang Tang immediately took out her little handkerchief and handed it over.
"Mrs. Fang, my mother said that when you want to cry, you have to use a handkerchief to wipe your eyes. You can't use your hands to wipe your eyes!
"
nShao Xiang took the handkerchief with trembling hands and said to Fang Ya,
"You have really taught your daughter well!
"
nShao Xiang calmed down for a moment before saying,
"It's already noon. Why don't we... eat before we leave?
"
nFang Ya hesitated and did not reply immediately.
nHowever, Tang Tang opened her mouth at that moment.
n
"Mommy, I'm hungry.
"
n
"I will go and cook immediately! You can eat at once, Tang Tang!
" Without waiting for Fang Ya's reply, Shao Xiang had already turned around and entered the kitchen.
n
