Chapter 53 - Two Evolutionary Resources

n“What’s going on? It’s been such a long time, so why isn’t he coming out yet?”

n“I’m not too sure, but we’re really in for it this time.”

n

n

nOutside the Spirit Pagoda, the mass of Cangzhou University students and teachers had been waiting for a while. They were all rather curious when they noticed that Ye Xuan had not stepped out of the pagoda.

nA greater portion of them felt unsettled. At this time, tens of minutes had elapsed since Ye Xuan stepped into the Spirit Pagoda.

nSome of them were even harboring dark thoughts, wondering if the reason why Ye Xuan had not come out after such a long time was because something had happened to him in the pagoda.

n“Worry not, Vice Dean Lin. Back when the King of Thousand Cranes ended his challenge in the Spirit Pagoda, he had also stayed in there for quite some time before leaving.

n

n

n“It’s probably the same reason why this student of yours hasn’t walked out of the pagoda after such a long time,” Xu Younian said while standing beside Lin Shiru.

nAnxiety weighed on him even as he said that.

nTo think such a sprout had appeared in Jiangzhou University after their prolonged inactivity. One could only imagine how exciting the Hundred Academy League would be after a few years after Ye Xuan grew.

nLin Shiru nodded.

n

n

nBut still, she was a little worried about Ye Xuan. After all, something like this that was happening to Ye Xuan was not at all common.

n“I really wonder what his beast is that he’s persisting in the pagoda for such a long time,” Song Jia said emphatically from among the crowd. It had not been too long since she emerged from the pagoda.

n“You really think he’s able to survive for such a long time with one beast even to the extent of breaking the record set by the King of Thousand Cranes?”

nXu Canchan shook his head from beside her.

n“Are you saying…that he has two beasts?”

nSong Jia could not help but widen her eyes when she heard him.

n

n

n“More or less!”

nXu Canchan sighed. Of the apprentice-level beasts, his Gigantic Buddha of Metal and Stone was already the biggest fish in the pond. He refused to believe that Ye Xuan would be able to break the record set by the King of Thousand Cranes with a single beast.

n“How about this, Xu Canchan? You’ve always been competitive anyway, so what do you think about exchanging blows with Ye Xuan after he comes out of that tower? We’ll get a good look at his skills,” Song Jia responded with a charming smile after she heard what he said.

n“I have no plans of accepting that abuse.”

nXu Canchan only smirked scornfully.

nBeast Tamers who could bond with two beasts despite still being at the apprentice level—there was practically nobody who was a match for them, not at the lower levels.

nXu Canchan was very aware of this.

nHe knew that if Ye Xuan had really broken the record set by the King of Thousand Cranes in the Spirit Pagoda, then he would only be flung around in a match against the other.

n

n

n“Coward.”

nSong Jia lost interest immediately when she heard what he said.

n“I live for peace.”

nXu Canchan made no movement. “Seek him out yourself if you’re really that interested in him.”

nSong Jia was struck speechless.

nWhoosh!

nAnd just then, as the crowd was wrapped up in discussion, a handsome figure standing at 1.8m suddenly strode out of the Spirit Pagoda.

n“Ye Xuan!”

nEveryone turned to look at him when they saw his figure.

nNow that he was facing all these people yet again, he was not as nervous as he was earlier.

n“I was fortunate enough to have completed your mission, Miss Lin,” he said to Lin Shiru as he strode boldly to her.

nHe spoke in a voice that was neither loud nor quiet, but it carried a force unique to him.

nOut here, he represented Jiangzhou University. The more people looked at him, the more he had to behave well. This was what Lin Shiru had said to him earlier. He had kept it in mind the entire time.

n

n

n“Not bad.”

nLin Shiru nodded.

nThere was relief in her gaze when she stared at Ye Xuan.

nShe then turned to look at Xu Younian and said, “Director Xu, since Ye Xuan is here, I’ll be bringing him along to find a place to train. We won’t impose on you any longer.”

n“Very well.”

nXu Younian nodded. “I have to remind you, Vice Dean Lin, of the agreement that Beast Tamers at Platinum level and above are not allowed to spar in the Spirit Secret Realm.”

n“Rest assured, Director Xu.”

nLin Shiru nodded.

nAfter she spoke, she summoned the Sacred Divine Wood.

nShe brought down branch after branch that wrapped around both her and Ye Xuan, hurtling through space until they reached a discreet, hidden spot in the Spirit Secret Realm.”

nIt was a large mountain.

nLooking down from the very apex of the mountain, one would see an expanse of green.

n“Can you tell me what you encountered in the Spirit Pagoda just now?” Lin Shiru looked at Ye Xuan and asked him when they touched the ground.

n“Of course.”

nYe Xuan did not hesitate. Immediately, he launched into a recount of what had happened in the Spirit Pagoda, as well as his exchange with the Elder of Arrays. Of course, he only mentioned that his own talent had surpassed the expectations of the Elder of Arrays.

nHe said nothing about owning a Mythic Talent that even the Elder of Arrays could not detect.

nHe mentioned nothing about the Tidal Treasure Snail.

nHe only mentioned what the Elder of Arrays told him, that the Tidal Treasure Snail was a Dark Iron level beast that possessed immense power. He did not mention its Treasure Devouring ability or how its potential knew no bounds.

nHe knew full well what he could divulge and what he could not.

nAlthough he trusted Lin Shiru quite a bit, he had no wish to test her character.

n“I see.”

nLin Shiru fell into thought after listening to Ye Xuan’s recount.

nAfter thinking about it, she said, “You said you chose a Dragon Meditation technique with only one layer while you were in the Spirit Pagoda. I wonder if you’re able to describe this technique.”

n“I can’t.”

nYe Xuan shook his head. “It’s a very bizarre technique. According to the description, I can only hone it to the Challenger level, and I have to expend an immense amount of psychic power before I can write out this technique using a unique method.”

n“On top of that, the written form of this technique will lose effect after it’s handed off to somebody. It has to be rewritten before it can be passed down to another person.”

n“It’s as I expected.”

nLin Shiru shook her head ruefully after hearing the explanation.

nTruth be told, she more or less had an answer before she even asked Ye Xuan…

nBecause she had encountered a technique as high-level as this one, and the situation was the same.

nShe mulled over it for a beat and then said, “If that’s the case, then you should hone this Dragon Meditation technique after you advance to the Dark Iron level.”

n“As for advancing to the Bronze and Silver levels, the school just so happens to have a technique called the Calamity of Fire and Wind. It’s possible to link this technique, and you wouldn’t face a shortage of techniques to hone before you advance to the Golden level.”

n“For the time being, you can use the evolutionary resources you obtained at the Spirit Pagoda to help your beasts advance to the Dark Iron level quicker.”

n“Understood!”

nYe Xuan nodded after listening to her.

nHope sprouted in his chest.

nHe had been anticipating Tyrannosaurus and Lil Wan’s advancement to the Dark Iron level for far too long. As he thought about it, he fished out the Beast Ring that the Elder of Arrays had tossed to him earlier.

nAfter a quick sweep with his psychic power, he found two items in the ring.

nOne of them was unknown blood wrapped up within an amber pouch.

nThe other was a pearl of brilliant, flowing green. There was no doubt about it—the unidentified blood definitely belonged to the Tyrannosaurus.

nAs for the green pearl, it was a treasure to be used on Lil Wan.

n
