Chapter 109 - Trapped

n*Bang!*

nThe loud sound scared Li Ran and she let out a shriek.

n

n

nShe did not expect them to be trapped either!

nLi Ran began to struggle. She pulled the net as hard as possible in hopes of breaking free.

nHowever, her efforts were futile.

nYang Shao also noticed that pulling the net was pointless.

n

n

nInstead, he squatted down and touched the ground.

n“The loud noise just now was caused by this stone. The net will only be lifted if we pick this stone up.”

nLi Ran tried to pick up the stone with all her might but it would not budge.

nShe turned to Yang Shao and said, “Can you pick it up?”

n

n

n“The stone isn’t big. Logically speaking, I should be able to but…”

nYang Shao tried but he could not do it either. He exerted all his force and his breathing became heavier.

nLi Ran became more and more anxious, but there was nothing they could do.

nAfter trying for some time, Yang Shao gave up.

nThis stone was more complicated than it looked.

nYang Shao was dispirited.

n

n

n“I can’t move it. Let’s see if we can cut this net instead.”

n“A knife!!!”

nLi Ran suddenly remembered the knife stored in her waist bag.

nShe took it out and began cutting the net with all her might!

nAfter swinging the knife up and down continuously, Li Ran still could not cut it.

nIn the end, she put the knife down and stopped moving.

nThe net was too strong.

n“This is too hard. Why don’t we try to move the stone again?”

n

n

n“It’s not possible.”

nAn unfamiliar voice could be heard from afar.

nLi Ran’s eyes lit up a little after hearing the voice.

nA faint light illuminated the face of an old man. He was standing by the door. His face was full of wrinkles.

nThe old man displayed no expression on his face, but he gave off a hint of sadness.

nLi Ran and Yang Shao did not speak. They only looked at him warily.

nThe old man slowly walked inside.

nHe placed the candle that he was holding on the table.

nThen, he opened a box of matches and lit up more candles that were placed around the room.

nIt was not that bright, but Li Ran and Yang Shao could finally get a better look at their surroundings.

nThe room was rather simple. It was about three hundred square feet. There was only a bed and a table.

nA knife and a cutting board were placed on the table. There were bloodstains on the cutting board. Moreover, a large pool of dried blood could be seen on the floor.

nIn the middle of the pool of blood was a person’s head. His hair had been sloppily cut off with scissors.

n

n

nThe head was staring directly at Li Ran!

nHis eyeballs were missing and there were just two bloody holes.

nThis scene gave Li Ran a massive shock.

nFurthermore, there was a zombie bound to the bed. It was panting heavily.

nLi Ran immediately understood the situation they were in.

nThe old man looked at the bed. He walked towards the table and opened a drawer. Then, he took out a piece of meat and threw it to the zombie on the bed.

nAfter that, he just stared at the zombie with a peaceful look on his face.

nThe meat gave off a putrid smell.

nAll of a sudden, the old man asked, “You’re not a staff member from this building, are you?”

nHis eyes were still latched on to the zombie that was devouring the piece of meat.

nThe zombie’s face was covered in blood.

nHowever, the old man just smiled kindly and patted the zombie on its head.

nYang Shao swallowed his saliva and answered honestly, “No, we’re here on an urgent business.”

n
