nLi Ran stopped and looked around. She saw Lin Ke rushing over.

nAt the same time, a shrill scream could be heard from the other side.

n“Zombies had entered the base! Everyone, run!”

nEveryone was in a disarray. Some were stunned while others were running all over the place.

nIt was as if they had gone crazy.

nThey ran as fast as their legs could carry them.

nLin Ke immediately pulled Li Ran’s arm and they both ran in the same direction as the crowd.

nShe held onto Li Ran tightly and panted as she said, “There are too many people. All we can do is run. If you fall, you’ll be trampled.”

nLi Ran nodded. Then, she looked at the soldier behind her. She pursed her lips and asked, “Do you have guns?”

n“It’s necessary,” Li Ran added before the soldier could reply.

n“Here, this handgun is prepared just for you.”

nThe soldier handed the gun that Lin Nan gave him to Li Ran and she took it.

nWhile running, she said to Lin Ke, “You go ahead. If the zombies infect you, then it’s the end.”

nAfter saying that, Li Ran let go of Lin Ke’s hand and called the soldier behind her. She turned around and ran the opposite way using a path that had fewer people.

nThen, she climbed to the highest floor and scanned the surroundings. She narrowed her eyes and managed to catch a glimpse of a man fighting a zombie.

nThe man was fighting with his bare hands and the zombie tried to bite him. Luckily, the zombie failed and had its head smashed by the man.

nLi Ran did not know how many zombies had managed to enter but there were at least twenty of them.

nMost of the people in the base were old people and children. They were trembling helplessly.

nThe number of young and strong men was so limited that she could easily count them.

n“Li Ran, are you crazy? You’re not going to fight the zombies, are you?”

nLin Ke did not leave by herself. After all, it was not safe anywhere. So, she might as well just stick with Li Ran.

nHowever, Li Ran did not seem to hear what she had said. Instead, she kept staring in the man’s direction without blinking.

nLin Ke’s eyes followed her gaze. Then, she instantly covered her mouth. There was a feeling of nauseousness and her stomach began to churn. She bent down and threw up. Tears were falling down from her eyes.

nOnce she was done barfing, she rolled up her sleeves and wiped the sweat off her face. She stood up shakily and looked at the scene again.

nThe man fell down in shock after he had killed the zombie. He had no choice because he wanted to protect the old and the weak.

nThere was an old woman nearby who had also seen the entire incident. She noticed that a zombie was creeping up the fallen man from behind.

nWithout hesitation, she rushed towards the zombie and tried to hit it. However, she was weak and her attack only angered the zombie.

nThe zombie easily knocked the old woman over and proceeded to bite the man.

nOther zombies began surrounding the young man. They had their grips on him and began eating the man alive.

nLi Ran could clearly see everything from her position but she no longer could bear it.

nIt was the same for Lin Ke.

n“Li Ran, it’s so dangerous. What are you going to do? Do you have a death wish? Even a strong man was easily defeated. Do you think you’re a match for the zombies?”

nLin Ke tried her best to persuade Li Ran to escape.

nSuddenly, a gunshot was heard and more followed.

nLi Ran’s eyes were red but she was determined.

n“If we don’t control the situation, everyone will die!”

n“But we need to leave. The plane will take off soon. It won’t be easy to get on since everything is in chaos.”

nScreams filled the entire base.

nLi Ran tried her best to calm herself. Then, she shot all five zombies surrounding the man!

nAfter that, she aimed at the man and put him out of his misery.
