n“What about the others?” asked Li Ran.
nFrom the looks of it, they were the only ones left.
n
n
nShe followed them inside. The house was pretty clean. Once they had all entered, Gu Jin gently closed the door behind them.
n“We heard that there was a safety base and they insisted on checking the place out. So, we distributed the supplies but left behind some raw and processed food.”
nAs he spoke, Gu Jin looked at Zhao Ying and said emotionally, “This is all thanks to Zhao Ying’s special ability. Otherwise, we would not even be able to cook.”
nZhao Ying pursed her lips and smiled.
n
n
n“We’re lucky. Since we’re here, let’s bring everything we could with us.”
nThen, Zhao Ying went into the kitchen and took out all the things that were neatly arranged inside the cabinet with Gu Jin’s help.
nThere was only half a box of noodles and three packets of instant noodles.
nWhen Li Ran walked into the kitchen, she smelled a strong stench that caused her to instantly vomit.
n
n
nSeeing this, Zhao Ying panicked.
nShe quickly patted Li Ran’s back and asked worriedly, “What’s wrong? Is it the smell?”
nGu Jin did not expect this. He was stunned for a moment and immediately went to look for the source of the smell. Then, he said apologetically, “We might have gotten used to the smell so it had no effect on us. I’m really sorry that I forgot to warn you. I’ll get rid of it now.”
nHe took two bags out from the kitchen. One of them was covered in blood. It was filled with raw meat. The other bag was black. If Li Ran had not seen in for herself, she would not have been able to tell that it was meat.
nZhao Ying explained, “If we really had no other choice, we would have eaten these. That’s why we kept them.”
nShe continued to tend to Li Ran.
n
n
n“I’ll get you some clothes so you can wipe your mouth. There’s no more tissue or water here. I’m sorry.”
nAs she was about to leave, Li Ran quickly waved her hand.
n“No need. I have some mineral water in my car. I’ll go get it later. If there’s nothing else, let’s just go.”
nZhao Ying paused and looked at Li Ran awkwardly. Then, she opened a nearby door.
nA small head peeped out. It was a child who looked about four or five years old. He blinked when he saw Li Ran. After that, he looked at Zhao Ying and asked, “Mom, is it okay for this sister to see me?”
nZhao Ying squatted down and comforted him. She said gently, “Yes. Don’t be afraid. This big sister is a very good person.”
nLi Ran tilted her head and looked at the child. He looked more like an elf than a human.
nThe boy had pointy ears and big eyes. However, there were scales that would reflect light on his hands.
n
n
nGu Jin said to Li Ran in distress, “Originally, I was hoping that you could take us somewhere to seek help, but it would be dangerous to leave him here alone.”
n“Is this caused by a mutation?” Li Ran asked curiously.
n“Yes, our child is a human. Ever since the apocalypse, he slowly began to transform. The scales have grown up to his face. Others would probably be frightened by the sight, so we tried to hide him,” Gu Jin explained.
nLi Ran was not afraid at all. Ever since she discovered the mysterious space, barely anything could surprise her.
nIn fact, she felt that these strange mutations were somewhat magical.
nSuddenly, she remembered something. With a smile, she asked, “You shot your drama along with your child, right?”
nGu Jin laughed.
nHe scratched his head and said shyly, “Haha, he’s a celebrity.”
