Chapter 43

n
nMonn walked out of the Holy Church on time at five o’clock in the afternoon.
n“System, clock out of work.”
n
n
n Clock out successful. Your strength has slightly increased!
nMonn clenched his fists and shook his head.
nThe increase in his strength from his clock-in and clock-out routine every day was no longer of much use to him ever since he had advanced into the Holy Rank.
nHowever, it was better than nothing.
n
n
nMonn headed home quickly, maintaining an optimistic attitude. He had been missing Alma since he had not seen the little angel for a day.
nMonn quickened his pace and a smile appeared on his face when he thought of Alma.
n“Cardinal Monn.”
nLucius’s voice came from behind him. Monn calmed himself in an instant. He turned his head and stared at Lucius’s serious face. He asked, “Commander Lucius, is there something I can help you with?”
n
n
nLucius said, “I wish to discuss with you the details of entering the Demonic Beast Forest tomorrow.”
nMonn said calmly, “I’m sorry, Commander Lucius. I’ve already gotten off work. It’s my personal time now, so I don’t want to discuss work issues.”
nMonn turned around and left after saying that.
nHe still had to go back and cook for Alma.
nMonn’s words stunned Lucius for a moment.
nHe did not expect that Monn’d personality was exactly like how the rumors described him.
n
n
nLucius laughed bitterly, but there was nothing he could do.
nTomorrow it shall be then.
nElton’s old laughter suddenly sounded from behind him. “This cardinal is arrogant. He doesn’t care about you, Commander Lucius.”
nLucius’s face instantly turned cold. His sharp gaze landed on Elton, and he said coldly, “Since the pope has tacitly approved Cardinal Monn’s actions, it proves that he has the right. Pope Elton, you can argue with Cardinal Monn if you are unhappy about it.”
nElton gaped. That was not what he had in mind.
nHe wanted to use Lucius’s hands to teach Monn a lesson.
nElton was a little embarrassed and angered that his provocation failed. He snorted coldly and turned to leave.
nLucius looked at Elton’s back and sneered.
n
n
nHe knew what Elton was planning to do.
nAs a member of the Orthodox Church, he was plotting his companions instead of upholding justice.
nNot to mention that he was a pope.
nLucius shook his head, feeling a little disappointed.
nOn the other side, Monn, who had returned home, took off his red robe and put on an apron to prepare the three old dishes for Alma.
nHe heard the door open and quickly went out to welcome Alma.
n“Father Monn!”
nAlma stood at the door with her small schoolbag on her back. She reached out her hands toward Monn as if she wanted to hug him.
nMonn immediately walked over upon seeing that, holding a spatula in one hand and carrying Alma in the other.
nHe rubbed his face against Alma’s tiny face and said with a smile, “How was school today?”
n“Hey! I got first place in today’s exam!”
nAlma’s face was full of pride. She looked at Monn expectantly with an expression that said, “Praise me! Praise me!”.
nMonn stroked Alma’s little head lovingly and said matter-of-factly, “My Alma is the smartest and the best!”
n
n
nAlma chuckled. She was a little embarrassed by Monn’s matter-of-factly tone.
nMonn took out ten shillings from his trouser pocket and waved them in front of Alma. “Today, Alma will be rewarded with an extra five shillings because she got first place in her exam.”
nAlma’s eyes lit up when she heard that. She quickly took the shillings and put them in her pocket.
nAnother night passed.
nThe next day, in the morning.
nLucius arrived at Monn’s drill ground early in the morning.
nHe quietly observed the knights’ training.
nThe knights, who were training could see a silver-haired middle-aged man with a serious face standing outside the training ground, silently watching them.
nOne of the Knights saw his face clearly and immediately became excited. He shouted to the people beside him, “Hey! Hey! Look who it is!”
n“Commander Lucius?”
n“Why would Commander Lucius come to the training ground?”
n“How would I know! I only know that he is observing us right now. I must perform well. Maybe I will be able to join Commander Lucius’ knights if I perform well!”
nDamn! That made sense!
nAlmost all the knights were excited. They brought out their best skills, wishing that they could pierce a werewolf’s throat at once!
nAnother knight said, “Isn’t Cardinal Monn’s team good too?”
nAll the Knights were speechless.
n“Although Cardinal Monn is great, he is still far inferior from Commander Lucius.”
nLucius, “…”
n‘I am not sure of that myself.’
nLucius thought to himself.
nMonn arrived at the drill ground on time at nine o’clock.
nHe saw a tall figure standing on the drill ground, looking from afar, whose eyes fixed on the army that was training the troops, and seemed to be deep in thought.
nMonn walked forward and greeted, “Good morning, Commander Lucius.”
nLucius came back to his senses and nodded. “Good morning, Cardinal Monn.”
n“How is it?”
nMonn asked, seeing that Lucius had observed for so long.
nLucius thought for a moment and replied, “Not bad!”
n“There will always be times when one doesn’t have the strength to fight alone. Cooperating is the way to go!”
n“Moreover, these knights seem to be more dedicated! I believe that they will burst out with amazing strength if they are facing a herd of beasts!”
nMonn did not expect that Lucius would think so highly of his knights.
nAt first, he only started to reorganize his knights because he could not stand it.
nHe did not expect them to be able to kill in all directions. He just hoped that they could resist the attack of the demonic beasts.
nAfter that, Monn and Lucius mainly discussed the details of going to the Demonic Beast Forest. They then gathered the army and marched into the Demonic Beast Forest.
nThe knights whispered to each other along the way.
n“Where are we going?”
n“I’m not sure either. It must be training.”
nMonn and the others passed by a village along the way. There was no one inside.
nHowever, it was full of broken limbs. The dried blood dyed the ground red. The smell of blood filled the air, making them frown.
nThe knights who were originally whispering became silent and clenched their fists.
nThese were human corpses!
nThey understood, so their hearts filled with anger.
nThe sky suddenly became gloomy. It started to drizzle as if it wanted to wash away the heavy smell.
n“Do you know who did this?” said Monn in a low voice
nWerewolves? Bloodsuckers? Demonic Beasts?
nThere were only a few answers.
nPhilip’s eyes were bloodshot with anger. He looked at a lonely white bone not far away and gritted his teeth. “It’s demonic beasts!”
nHe saw it!
nTraces of wild beasts gnawing filled the place!
n“That’s right!”
n“It’s demonic beasts!”
n“They have trampled on the human homeland! They have gnawed on our fellow humans!”
n“Now, we are here to avenge them! That is a life and death battle! Kill them all! Can you do that?”
n“Kill them all! Kill them all!”
nMonn was also unhappy that he could not vent his anger upon seeing so many human remains.
nHe knew that clearing away the demonic beasts was a battle of life and death for his knights.
nHe wanted to stimulate their fighting and killing spirit so that they could return alive!
n
