nChapter 23
n“Where the hell did you deliver the alcohol to? Our manager did not see you return and even suspected that you ran off with the money!”
n“The five bottles of wine were worth 70,000 or 80,000 yuan in total. Why the hell would I stoop so low as to take the money and run?”
nKnock! knock!
nFrom the door came a knocking sound. Anhao, being the nearest to the door, got up to open it.
n“I heard that an unfamiliar female classmate came into this room just now, right in this very room here. So I came over to take a look. The school dorm does not allow…”
nThe voice of the dormitory warden aunt came in the room the moment the door was opened. But when she saw Gu Anhao, her eyes widened and she stammered, “Gu… Gu Anhao?!”
nAnhao rolled her eyes. “Aunty, you don’t look so well. Why not retire soon?”
nUpon hearing this girl’s blunt reply, the dormitory warden aunt was pissed off to the point where her face became contorted.
nThe fine and extremely tidy skirt-wearing girl who she saw just now entering the room and was currently glaring at her.
nShe thought that it was some random student from another school. Who knew it would turn out to be the tomboy, Gu Anhao, who always wore her school uniform inside out to the point where her figure was always hidden!’
nHowever, Gu Anhao did not look like a tomboy today. Her hair was not that long, but it had already grown below her ears. She was so clean and tidy that she looked like an obedient girl, and the dress she was wearing evoked a completely different style compared to how she was previously.
nAnhao left the dormitory warden aunt no chance to argue with her, and shut the door with a ‘bang’.
nFrom behind the door came her roaring, “Gu Anhao, open the door this instant! Don’t ever think I’ll spare you with your tidy look today! Why did you not return to the dorm for three days?”
nAnhao ignored her and returned to her seat. “Since my school uniform’s missing, then I won’t be attending class today. I’ll just stay in the room.”
n“You better don’t! Rumor has it that our school has invited a guest professor from B University to have a meeting with the 3rd Graders here!”
n“Yup, the President of Academic Affairs also made an announcement that no high school students are allowed to skip classes today.”
n“What professor? This ain’t a university. Why invite a professor?”
n“No idea. Probably a guest professor from B University’s Department of Finance. Aged 27, sounds like he’s quite young. Apparently, this professor specializes in working in the finance firm of Yishi Group, sounds like he’s a high-ranking figure too. How mysterious!”
nAnhao became absent-minded the moment she heard the name ‘Yishi’.
nAll of a sudden, Anhao was whacked on the shoulder. She then saw Chunchun handing her a set of spare school uniform. “You must have left your school uniform in the bar. It’s too late for you to go retrieve it. So, wear mine first.”
nAnhao blankly received the school uniform from her. Chunchun, seeing that Anhao seemed to be a totally different person these days, could not help but say, “And now back to topic, you actually look quite good in this kind of clothes. Come to think of it, why not you let your hair grow longer now?”
nAnhao looked at her and said, “Spare me your compliments. When the hell did you ever see me being so feminine?”
nHuang Amao was chuckling beside them. “Aren’t you feminine right now? Not to mention, it matches your troubled face. Tut-tut, here we are thinking that Hanru possessed you.”
nThe moment they mentioned Hanru, Anhao felt a bit nauseous and rolled her eyes. “Don’t ever mention that ungrateful white lotus in my face.”
n“Oh, you do remember that you saved the life of an ungrateful whelp. Hanru smeared your name a lot in school these two days!”
n“That’s because both the principal and the President of Academic Affairs knew that she went for a drink with those miscreants. She would surely not receive this year’s Star Culture Award. That’s why she’s so pissed off to the point where she is speaking ill of you in front of everybody.”
n“All those various gossips involving you for the past two days are spread throughout A High School like wildfire~”
n“Hanru, that shameless b*tch. It’s been two days since I last saw her. And I’m gonna rip out her mouth if she crosses paths with me again.”
nChunchun indignantly pushed Anhao, who was still standing beside her, aside. “Hey, what the hell are you still standing there for? Hurry up and change your clothes. The professor will arrive at 10:30am, and look at the time now. What’re you waiting for?”
nAnhao could only partly absorb whatever Chunchun and Amao were saying. It was because they mentioned that the professor was someone from the Yishi Group.
n“Anhao?”
n“Huh?” Anhao was abruptly knocked back to her senses.
n“Just hurry up and change your clothes. We’re leaving.”
n“… Oh.”
nAs they were going to be late, Anhao had no choice but to pull the school uniform Chunchun gave her over her dress before heading straight toward the lecture hall.
nThe moment she took her seat, her cell phone rang, which turned out to be from the principal himself.
n“Anhao, did you come to school today? Please come to the principal’s office.”
nThis surprised Anhao as she did not expect the principal to say ‘please’.
nCoincidentally, she planned to go to the principal’s office. But by the time she stepped out of the lecture hall, she then suddenly saw a familiar figure coming out of a doorway not far from her.
nAnhao became abruptly stiff the moment that man raised his eyes. Then, she hid behind the emergency exit door next to her in a flash.
nBy peeking at that slender figure through the slightly narrow door gap, all her memories from years ago swiftly flooded back.
nMany years had gone by. That man was still as towering and tall as she remembered. He had a wide figure which made people have an extreme peace of mind, while his calm and peaceful movements made him look warm and friendly.
nThe young man, who was holding a speech draft while strolling along the hallway, obviously had a particularly handsome complexion with just a glimpse from the side.
nHe was the one who Anhao once placed her whole belief in, and he was her life’s purpose; the one who once guided her in her life.
nAnhao did not expect A High School to invite Yi Zeyang, who had returned to China a while ago, as a guest professor.
nAnd more to the point, Yi Zeyang got engaged after his return. Evidently, the Yi family planned to stay in A City for a while in order to expand their business.
n‘He should be busy with Yishi Group’s business, not to mention taking the time to accompany his fiancée. What’s he doing here anyway?’
nShe saw that the man was walking toward the lecture hall. Beside the hall, a few teachers and the president were talking to him.
nYi Zeyang gently nodded while listening to them, seemingly friendly and approachable. He was very attentive to whatever the school president was saying. Even when that man had finally vanished from the hall’s entrance, Anhao remained frozen for a long time, clearly dazed and lost in her thoughts.
n“Gu Anhao, what’re you doing here?”
nJust then, a voice came from behind Anhao, startling her and causing her to abruptly turn around.
nThe President of Academic Affairs was having a quick smoke below the stairs of the emergency exit. After which, he reached the top of the stairs just in time to see Gu Anhao bending over and looking out the door like a thief.
nAnhao got startled the moment she saw the President of Academic Affairs. Then, after smelling the cigarette smoke on the old man’s body, she smiled cheekily. “Mr. President, what’re you doing just now?”
nSeeing that this girl was obviously trying to make things difficult for him, the President of Academic Affairs glared at her. “The principal’s looking for you. What’re you waiting for?”
n
