Chapter 46 - A Lotus Field

nThere was an eerie silence in Chunmei Courtyard.

nEveryone was wide-eyed as they stared at the shocking scene in the rainy night.

nInside the pavilion, Old Fang’s eyes widened. Watching Fang Lang’s counterattack, Old Fang felt a blush color his face. His grip on the lady companion’s waist tightened excitedly, causing the woman to squirm in pain. Her tiny fists struck Old Fang’s chest.

nThe tall and sturdy figure’s wine cup was frozen in the air. He studied the rain-soaked Fang Lang.

nAmidst the gale and storm, the boy had turned the tables, surprising him.

nHe had thought Lin Yun’s Dominating Sword Style Lightning Fuse would take Fang Lang out.

nThe man did not use his spiritual intent to gauge Fang Lang’s cultivation, hence he was not aware that Fang Lang was hiding his true strength.

nLin Yun had been careless.

n“Interesting. His cunningness gave him an edge over Lin Yun. He used his seventh-grade sword mastery to mislead Lin Yun and at the last moment, he reveals his eight-grade cultivation. The power difference makes it difficult for Lin Yun to fight back.”

nThunk!

nThe wine cup slammed down on the table.

nNo matter, in the next moment, Fang Lang was about to experience the wrath of an unrestrained fifth-grade sword master.

n…

nA bead of rain rolled down the line of his jaw. Then, it fell to the ground.

nWithin that span of time, Fang Lang had made a decision.

nThe Finger Flick Energy Wave was insufficient to kill Lin Yun!

nEven though the attack was directed at his head and blood was spilled, it was not a kill.

nFang Lang had to swiftly strike him down with his sword.

nWithout any regrets, Fang Lang swung the Blooming Lotus Sword and activated his Spirit Step. Like a ghostly illusion, he dipped the tip of his sword into the water puddles that had gathered in the courtyard as he ran, summoning a huge wave from the ever-expanding pool of rainwater.

nSword Draw!

nWhoosh!

nThe sword was pulled out from the water. Thousands of hissing white snakes shot out.

nHis blade shone resplendently as if it contained lightning.

nFang Lang leapt into the air like the star long jump athlete, crashing through the rain.

nWith two hands gripping the handle of the Blooming Lotus Blade, he plunged the sword down as if it was a dagger.

n“Fang Lang! I want you dead!” Lin Yun’s angry cry sounded throughout the courtyard. An immense pressure emanated from him like a tsunami. The spiritual energy moved and settled over his body like a veil—a Spirit Suit!

nThis was the sign of a second-class sword master.

nLin Yun did not bother to suppress his cultivation. He was infuriated!

nFlesh tore from his forehead and bits of bone could be seen. At the last moment before Fang Lang flicked his finger, Lin Yun had released his fifth-grade sword master cultivation.

nHe would suffer some internal injuries for the sudden release but it was worth it as the alternative was having his skull utterly smashed by Fang Lang and losing his life.

nSplash!

nLin Yun sprang up from the pool of water.

nWith both hands, he took hold of Fang Lang’s Blooming Lotus Sword.

nFresh blood splattered all around!

nThe rain carried the redness away but the stench lingered.

nLin Yun gripped Fang Lang’s sword in both hands as it neared his throat—the tip was centimeters away.

nThe cold murderous intent made Lin Yun’s hackles rise.

nFang Lang was serious about killing him.

nFang Lang dared to kill him!

nBefore, Lin Yun had almost fallen. However, with his sword master cultivation activated, Fang Lang did not stand a chance!

nAn eighth-grade sword disciple was no match for a sword master!

nBlood flowed down Lin Yun’s face and the gore depicted his malevolence.

n“What a shame…” he said in a hoarse voice.

nRain rumbled around them.

nFang Lang looked at the unmoving Blooming Lotus Sword clasped between Lin Yun’s palms. His heart fell at the sight of Lin Yun’s strength.

nSword master…

nA tricky situation!

nHowever, Fang Lang was determined to kill him!

nFang Lang did not bother to speak. The wind and rain battered his face but he wore a sly smirk.

nCrack!

nHe smashed his head downward and struck Lin Yun’s open head wound without mercy.

nF*ck!

nImmense pain radiated through Lin Yun’s body.

nCrack! Crack! Crack!

nFang Lang continued his onslaught—blood splashed everywhere.

n‘I’ll hit your injury. It’ll hurt you more than me!’

nFang Lang’s forehead was stained red with blood.

nHis head came down for another strike. Suddenly, Lin Yun’s sword master energy exploded and Fang Lang was thrown 50 paces away. Lin Yun rose from the ground.

nFang Lang touched ground then broke into a sprint like a horse. The water puddles in the courtyard formed a wave in his wake.

nLin Yun raised his head to the heavy rain and roared. Blood continued to fall from his face.

nFang Lang rushed in with the Blooming Lotus Sword.

nIn the process, he noticed a stern gaze from the pavilion. The tall and sturdy figure was up and staring at him.

nFang Lang’s heart sank.

nHowever, he had an ace up his sleeve. When he smashed the Green Reward Egg, he had received three items and two of them were for combat.

nA Power Loan Card and an Enchantment Card!

n‘Power Loan Card: The host will temporarily gain all of the binding partner’s cultivation powers. (Note: This card cannot be applied concurrently with the Amplification Card)’

nThis new combat card was Fang Lang’s ultimate weapon.

nTogether with the Enchantment Card, Fang Lang was certain he could kill Lin Yun!

nFang Lang was hesitant.

nHe was sure if he used the cards, the sturdy man would interfere.

nKilling Lin Yun was impossible!

nThat tall and sturdy figure was a hindering factor.

nTherefore, Fang Lang had to wait for the right opportunity.

nThe storm rumbled on.

nThe sky was a dark haze and the rain fell like it wanted to cleanse the Earth of all sins and slaughter.

nFang Lang dragged the Blooming Lotus Sword and glared at Lin Yun who had gotten up. Lin Yun’s movements were spastic, suggesting standing was becoming a chore.

nSuddenly, Fang Lang’s attention was pulled to the entertainment house.

nAmong the rainclouds, a silhouette rode in on an extravagant flight sword with runes spinning away happily. The man held an umbrella.

nRecognition shimmered in Fang Lang’s eyes. He called out excitedly, “Master Wen!”

nHuh?

nThe tall and sturdy figure in the pavilion narrowed his eyes and quickly turned his attention to the sky.

nAt that moment, Fang Lang rushed forward with quick steps, kicking up the pools of water on the ground.

nFang Lang closed in on Lin Yun who was clutching his head.

n‘System! Use the Power Loan Card with Jiang Linglong as the binding partner!’

nFang Lang growled in his heart.

n‘Ding! Power Loan Card activated and will last seven and a half minutes. Happy fighting,’ the System piped up.

nHis eyes blurred and in an instant, he felt the transformation into Old Jiang.

nAt his core, he felt the energy gather.

nThe energy circulated without stopping.

nOld Jiang’s cultivation was an eighth-grade sword master!

nThe energy rattled against the shackles and restraints, trying the escape. His spiritual energy flowed rapidly and formed a Spirit Suit that was much finer than Lin Yun’s.

nThe Spirit Suit was shaped for a slender figure, more feminine…

nThe minor detail was not worth Fang Lang’s attention.

nHis fights always relied on cooperation with his partners.

n‘Enchantment Card!’

nTwo combat-related cards were active at the same time.

nThe rapidly growing aura from Fang Lang made Lin Yun shudder.

nWith a hand still on his head, Lin Yun looked up. His eyes were red with blood.

nFang Lang thrusted his sword. As it was raining, the attack was enhanced with Jiang Linglong’s activated Four Season Form. Every droplet of rain fell with a frightening blade energy.

nBeside Fang Lang, a blurry silhouette that looked like Jiang Linglong appeared. Their swords moved in concordance.

nFang Lang did not use the Four Season Form.

nHe held the sword horizontally.

nThe sound of waves.

nThe tip of the sword attracted the falling rain like it was a magnet.

nWater collected at the Blooming Lotus Sword tip, gathering into the shape of a lotus flower bud.

nSecret Technique: Lotus Blade!

nLin Yun shivered as he felt death approaching.

nIn the pavilion, the tall and sturdy figure reacted. He was wide-eyed and a chill ran through his spine.

n“How dare you!”

nSecret technique?

nFang Lang knew about the secret technique?

nSecret techniques elevated one’s cultivation above the level of sword master.

nFang Lang’s killing intent was honed into a single attack.

nThe tall and sturdy man was sullen. Fang Lang had him distracted before revealing his ultimate weapon.

nWhoosh!

nThe tall and sturdy figure had quick reflexes. With a shout, the banquet table before him was split into two by his blade energy.

nHe took one step forward.

nIn a flash, he was out of the pavilion and in the rain.

nA thick and heavy sword appeared from his Space Ring. Lightning struck above as he moved to intercept Fang Lang’s attack.

nHowever, his progress was halted by a slender figure. Like a ghost, the man appeared out of nowhere and blocked his path. With two fingers, the slender man held the heavy sword in place.

nA violent wind kicked up a flurry of rainwater.

n“This is a fight between the youths. Why are you interrupting?” Mentor Wen said lazily. He held an umbrella and his beard was a mess.

nThe Scholarly Sword Master, Wen Ting!

nThe tall and sturdy figure felt his heart tremble.

nOn the other end, the lotus flower buds surrounded Lin Yun.

nWith the Blooming Lotus Sword, Fang Lang stabbed Lin Yun. The sword tore through the Spirit Suit and plunged into Lin Yun’s chest, striking the heart. The blade exited through Lin Yun’s back.

nDisbelief filled Lin Yun’s eyes.

nHe lost again?

nWas he going to die?

nBlood dripped down his mouth and onto the Blooming Lotus Sword.

nFang Lang twisted the sword in his hand. At that, the lotus flower buds around Lin Yun bloomed.

nIn a blink of an eye, Lin Yun was consumed by the blade energy. Thousands of cuts appeared all over his body.

nNot an inch of his body went unscathed. Blood oozed from the open wounds.

nIn the depths of his eyes, he saw the last lotus flower bloom as pain overcame him. Then, darkness consumed him and his life force was extinguished.

nLotus flowers covered the entire scene.

nThe rainwater in the courtyard vanished.

n
