Chapter 273.4 - The Loving Father & Son At Loggerheads
“It’s really amazing that I am able to see the day that you are being so highly concerned about a person, treading so carefully around her and afraid that she would be unhappy.” Little Monster said with a sigh as he shook his head helplessly. “My Lord, from now on you are no longer completely invulnerable. You have a weakness now.”
“Weakness?” Lou Jun Yao laughed, his palm gently stroking the Golden Winged Mythical Bird’s head. “I do not think that it is my weakness, but instead feel that I will grow more powerful because of her, so that I can protect her in order to keep her happy and safe.”
When Lou Jun Yao finished, he suddenly lifted his eyes up to look meaningfully at Little Monster before he asked: “From what you’ve told me, it seems like you do not really care very much for Mei Ji isn’t it? If she knew, I think she will be so angry that she’ll want to eat you up.”
“She wouldn’t bear to.” Little Monster replied with a laugh.
The two of them continued tossing barbs at each other in banter, till Little Monster’s voice suddenly halted and nothing was heard from him. His ears pricked up and moved slightly. He then turned to Lou Jun Yao and said: “A message came in from the Divine Healers Sect. Bai Zhi Yan asks for you to make a trip there, he said that it’s the woman Aunt Lan who wants to see you.”
Lou Jun Yao was taken aback and looked rather surprised. He then nodded before he said: “That’s great. It’s been a long time since I last saw Aunt Lan.”
But, for Aunt Lan to initiate a meeting with him at a time like this, something must have come up.
— Divine Healers Sect —
Qing Lan Fei had been nursing her health back over this period after her soul was returned back into her body, and had not stepped out through the door at all. Hence after she came out today, Bai Qiu could not help but be rather concerned. However, seeing that her complexion still looked normal and she seemed to be in a much better state than before, he thought that she must be recovering well.
After Bai Zhi Yan brought Qing Bei back to the Divine Healers Sect with him to be reunited with his parents, he had only gone back to the Dark Lands once since then, and just remained in the Divine Healers Sect ever since, without taking another step outside.
But no one knew what he had been up to all this time, with his Father Bai Qiu only seeing the man once when he just came back, never even catching another glimpse of his son after that. Although Bai Qiu did not say a single word about it, he was actually feeling rather gloomy about that.
Qing Lan Fei had finally showed herself today and Bai Zhi Yan had coincidentally appeared as well, but the man seemed to have forgotten Bai Qiu’s existence and was sticking so closely by Qing Lan Fei’s side, being so highly concerned and constantly asking after her wellbeing.
It was after a good long while before he came to notice Bai Qiu, where he then called out with a smile: “Father.”
Bai Qiu merely harrumphed coldly without any expression on her face.
Bai Zhi Yan rubbed at his nose in embarrassment and then crooned in aggrievement: “Father, what’s wrong now? I did not do anything to make you angry did I? Even Aunt Lan likes me so much here, but you do not even want to look at me straight in the eye. I am your real flesh and blood aren’t I?”
“It would have been great if you’re not my own flesh and blood, I would have swept you right out from the sect a long time ago, instead of having to come hear you complain to me now.” Bai Qiu shot back mercilessly.
Bai Zhi Yan was speechless. “…..”
His heart was rather pained and he felt like crying.
There are people around you know? Father, can’t you at least spare a thought for me?
He turned his head around to look and just as he expected, he saw Qing Lan Fei covering her mouth with her hand, looking like she was sniggering, while Mo Jing Yu looked a little shocked as he stared at them blankly.
A corner of Bai Zhi Yan’s mouth twitched and he then slid over to Bai Qiu and said in a soft whisper: “Father, Lou Jun Yao will be coming here in awhile. Aunt Lan said she wants to reminisce about old times with him and I think you….. erm….. should be very very busy, so you really do not need to accompany us here.”
