Chapter 155: I’ll Wait for You

The two of them looked at each other for a long time, one refusing to let go, the other refusing to go. They stayed that way until an assistant appeared, shouting for Pei Zhen.

One following the other, they stepped out of the resting room. Pei Zhen headed off to the studio. Xiao Nian saw that his face was red and got anxious. “Pei Pei, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”

Water drenched him during filming, after all, and it was night time. It would’ve been easy to catch a cold.

“A small matter.” Pei Zhen coughed once and looked away. “I’m ready to film.”

It was still the ‘breakup in the rain’ scene.

When the young leading lady saw Pei Zhen in front of the camera, naturally, the look of admiration washed over her expression. She ran towards him in a diligent manner, but her manager called out to her.

“Lulu, the Producer is asking for you.”

The young leading lady stopped and turned. As expected, she ended up face-to-face with Fu Sichen.

Dark and brooding, it was hard to know what he was thinking; he was like a cold-blooded assassin.

Although the killer was cold-blooded, overall, he looked rather dashing.

The young leading lady, who had walked over quite happily, returned with an ashen face. Facing Pei Zhen anew, she was serious and focused, no longer looking like a love-struck fool. She got into character quickly.

The artificial rain started again.

The force of the water was stronger and messed up the young leading lady’s hairdo; she could hardly keep her eyes open. As though embracing the challenge, the leading lady proceeded bravely.

“Let’s break up.”

“I’ve never loved you.”

“I tried to catch your attention purely out of vanity, I’m sorry.”

Pei Zhen held a pained expression as he delivered the moronic lines, “I don’t believe you! We obviously love each other! And you… you are a kind person…”

What could he do?

Fortunately, Pei Zhen’s acting skills were good enough that he could pull off such embarrassing lines convincingly. He charmed the staff standing around the sideline.

“Arggghhh, Pei Zhen is so handsome! What excellent acting skills Pei Pei has!”

The rain scene finally finished successfully. When the director shouted ‘cut’, it was a wrap, and everyone heaved a sigh of relief.

Just like before, once the filming ended, Fu Sichen—also the producer of the film—quickly went up to Pei Zhen to throw a big towel around him, leaving with Pei Zhen shielded protectively in his embrace.

“I’ve prepared hot water. Have a drink and change out of the wet clothes.”

The two grown men walked off together like a pair of lovebirds, leaving behind the young leading lady shivering in the cold. It was a sight almost too pitiful to look at.

“There are two more scenes to shoot after this.” Pei Zhen had changed out of his wet clothes and was flipping through the script. He glanced at Fu Sichen. “Why don’t you go home first?”

Filming would take them until dawn. Xiao Nian, the rubbish manager, was already yawning on the side since his job had been taken over by Fu Sichen.

“It’s okay.” Fu Sichen reached out for the cup in Pei Zhen’s hand and couldn’t help himself from lightly squeezing it. He said in a gentle tone, “I’ll wait for you.”

The contact was exquisite and once wasn’t enough for Fu Sichen. He gave Pei Zhen’s hand yet another squeeze. Turning red the face, Pei Zhen withdrew shyly.

Fu Sichen almost laughed aloud.

He took in every detail of Pei Zhen’s reaction and relished in it. Then he took a sip from the cup, a sip filled with sweetness.

“Hey.” Pei Zhen turned red in his ears by that point, and his gaze fell on the cup. “You…”

Fu Sichen had drunk from the exact spot on the cup that Pei Zhen last took a sip.

Fu Sichen followed his gaze downwards and realized what he had done. He raised an eyebrow, and boldly rested his lips on the same spot on the cup.

Pei Zhen was completely abashed.

It felt like a blast went off somewhere in his head, and he felt his temperature soar!
