Chapter 522 - Savior
Translator: Lonelytree
He immediately smiled brightly. “Can’t you remember anyone?”
I nodded. “Yes, I don’t remember anything,” I explained sincerely.
He introduced himself in a very gentlemanly manner. “Hello, my name is Gu Nian.”
He extended his hand to me.
I hesitated and reached out to gently shake his hand. “Hello, my name is Nanxing.”
He smiled.
There was a childlike sense of relief in that smile.
“Nanxing, it’s okay if you don’t remember. I’ll help you,” he said happily.
I shook my head gently. “No need. I’ll find the memories myself.”
I didn’t want to rely on others, especially people who might be my enemies!
His smile was faint, but there was an indescribable indulgence in it. “You’ve forgotten about many things, but you are still you.”
I wasn’t sure if he was praising or criticizing me.
He was actually very straightforward and didn’t beat around the bush at all.
He looked at me with a gaze as gentle as Jing Tian’s, and there were even faint tears in his eyes. “Nanxing, I thought I was about to die back then. However, I would die with no regret because I’d die in your arms.”
I looked at him in surprise.
He smiled. “When I came back from my near-death experience, and I was told that… something had happened to you, my heart shattered.”
He turned his head away and wiped his face with his hand. I saw tears fall from his eyes. He turned his head around and continued to smile. “This is great, Nanxing! You’re still alive, and I’m alive. I have to thank the heavens for saving my life and allowing me to see you again!” His smile brightened. “I would take ten knife stabbings for you, much less one!”
He exhaled. “It’s alright that you can’t remember anything, Nanxing. This is the perfect chance for you to start over!”
He was so excited that his words were incoherent.
I was stunned.
“You… took a knife for me?” I asked hesitantly.
He was stunned for a moment before he smiled. “It’s fine. It’s all in the past.”
I took two steps forward to take a closer look at him.
However, my mind was empty. There was nothing in it.
“Gu… Nian… ?” I softly called out his name.
Gu Nian’s voice brightened, and he nodded. “Yes, I’m Gu Nian, Nanxing. Have you remember me?”
I frowned and shook my head gently. “I’m sorry, I still don’t remember anything.”
The light in his eyes disappeared, but he still looked at me gently. “It’s fine. There’s no need to fret. We can get to know each other and be friends again, right?”
I hesitated, but I felt that his request wasn’t too much. If he had taken a knife for me and almost died, then he would have been my savior. It was only right for us to be friends. At least he hadn’t asked more from me.
So I nodded. “Alright, we’ll try to be friends again.”
Gu Nian’s smile was bright and cheerful. “Can you show me around your new home?”
I turned to look at Daisy and said to Gu Nian. “I’ll have to trouble my housekeeper to do that because I’m not familiar with this place either.”
Gu Nian smiled. He reached out to touch my head and sighed. “Nanxing, you’re still the same.”
I tilted my head. His hand missed me. He wasn’t offended, but I was uncomfortable.
I didn’t like him being so intimate with me.
“Daisy, get someone to show Mr. Gu around our house.” I gave this person to Daisy because I couldn’t quite digest our relationship.
However, I could confirm that we weren’t lovers.. I could tell from his attitude.
