nOn the seashore, with the sound of the waves in the background, the little mermaid was slowly working his way through a bowl of rice. The blond human next to him was lovingly watching over him while holding a bowl of greens. When Shi Qing finished a bite of rice, the human would bring a piece of cabbage to his mouth.

nAbout ten meters away from them, Zeng Nan and her subordinates cautiously observed the two of them from a distance.

nSubordinate 1: “Boss, did you notice that man glaring at us?”

nSubordinate 2: “Yeah Boss, he looks so fierce! Did we do something to him before?”

nZeng Nan put a cigarette in her mouth. Then she touched the scar on her face. She was also puzzled. “This can’t be right. Haven’t I been nice enough already? I even offered to feed the mermaid myself just now…”

nHer subordinates stared at her, “…”

n“Boss, how can you feed the mermaid? He’s the partner of the human! No wonder he’s giving you that look. I guess he thinks you’re his rival.”

nZeng Nan thought that was the case too, but who treated their rivals with such animosity?

nShe looked at the blond human who was only wearing a piece of seaweed (?) around the lower half of his body. The other person seemed to sense her gaze and immediately turned with a dangerous look in his golden eyes.

nZeng Nan shuddered and busied herself with staring up at the sky and pretending that nothing happened.

nBut why did she feel like she’s seen this person before, even though it was clearly their first time meeting?

nJust where did I see this guy…?

nThe blond human glared at the group until none of them were looking at his little mermaid. Only then did he turn back and mutter, “I don’t like humans.”

nShi Qing, who was happily eating rice, petted the blonde human’s head with a slender hand.

n“Then we won’t go ashore next time. I still like human food, though.”

nThe blond man gloomily looked at that miniscule bowl of rice.

nIt didn’t smell fragrant, it wasn’t fresh, and it was way too small.

nThere wasn’t even enough of it for a single mouthful in his dragon form. Why would his baby like this stuff?

nBut his remaining reluctance faded away after seeing the excited flush on Shi Qing’s fair face.

nHis tone unconsciously softened.

n“If you like it so much, I’ll take over the shore and have them offer every bit of food to you.”

nThat’s right, the thought of “I’ll trade or request for things I like” never ran through the minds of dragons.

nThey only knew one thing. To take whatever they want by force.

nEven better if their companion wanted it too.

nShi Qing shook his head. “No need. There’s nothing fun to do ashore.”

nThe blond human nodded obediently and decided to be merciful. “I won’t take it then.”

nThere was still a hint of smugness in his expression. He was clearly happy that his baby thought his territory (aka the entire ocean) was more fun.

nHowever…

nHe shot another vicious look at the humans watching them from afar.

nAfter managing to scare those busybodies into averting their gazes, he turned back, satisfied.

nHe really didn’t like humans.

nIt might’ve had something to do with how his baby had the upper body of a human but the lower half of a fish. Or it might’ve been how friendly his baby was towards humans. Dragons were all very possessive by nature. When he heard Shi Qing speak in that coquettish tone with those humans, he wanted to eat them all alive.

nBut he had to restrain himself.

nThe blond human’s features that were as radiant as the sun showed a few signs of aggravation.

n

n

nHis baby loved humans.

nIf he ate these people, his baby would be angry.

nHe was saddened by the fact that “I’m not the only one my baby likes”. However at that moment, the rice-eating little mermaid set his chopsticks down on a nearby rock and casually extended a hand to the blond human.

n“I’m done eating. Now carry me back.”

nThe brow of the dragon that was just now filled with aggravation and resignation immediately relaxed. He circled the little mermaid with his study arms and lifted him into the air.

nThe soft and weak little mermaid rested his head in his arms in a very dependent manner.

n“Your human form is so handsome.”

nThe blond human smiled softly, which only served to enhance his beauty. “I’ll change into this form every day if you like it so much.”

nShi Qing blinked cutely. “It doesn’t have to be every day… Your dragon form is good too.”

nThe little mermaid stretched out his tender fingertips. There was not a trace of the claws he had used to hold his companion close under the sea.

nHis fingertips slowly landed on the dragon’s human body and trailed down. His voice was delicate. “I like human food, so you’ll have to get some for me later.”

nThe blond human nodded. “No problem.”

nShi Qing smiled then said, “I have a name, you know? My name is Shi Qing.”

nThe dragon was at a loss.

nHe opened his mouth and sincerely called out, “Shi Qing?”

nHe said it one more time, “Shi Qing.”

nThe little mermaid responded, nuzzling his chest.

nThe blond human became thoughtful.

nAccording to his inherited memories, every dragon also had a name when their race was in its prime.

nThey often knew their names from the moment they were born, and they referred to each other by name as well.

nBut he was the last dragon.

nThere was no one alive to call his name before the little mermaid arrived, so there was no need to remember the name he had been born with.

nNow, he dug that name out of his memory that spanned tens of thousands of years.

nThe blond human proclaimed solemnly in his deep voice.

n“Abyss, my name is Abyss.”

n“Abyss?”

nThe little mermaid muttered the word under his breath as he reached out and grabbed onto the man’s golden hair.

nA soft smile graced his white and chubby face.

n“Abyss!”

nThe dragon’s instinctual and insatiable greed calmed as the name he was born with was used for the first time.

nHe also involuntarily began to smile.

nHolding the little mermaid, he slowly walked into the sea.

nBehind them, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven heads popped out.

nZeng Nan clenched the cigarette in her mouth. “Why’re they going in the sea again?”

nSubordinate 1: “Mermaids are sea creatures after all.”

n“But humans aren’t, ah. That person can’t be in the water with the mermaid all the time, right?”

nZeng Nan seemed thoughtful as she gazed out to sea.

nNo one knew better than her how dangerous the deep sea was. She couldn’t believe how easily that human stepped into the water.

nShe pondered for a while before a sudden realization hit her. “I get it!”

nHer subordinates were all curious, “What did you figure out, Boss?”

nZeng Nan took the cigarette out of her mouth. Admiration filled her eyes.

n“He did it all for love.” She said as she walked away from her receptive audience and clicked her tongue. “But seriously, that guy was right to be wary of me. I do like mermaids a lot. They’re so soft and cute…perfect to take home and pamper.”

nThe blond human who was already quite a distance away paused. “…”

nFive minutes later, Zeng Nan was still bragging. “I knew this mermaid was a good fish when he first came to me. Look how right I was! I still remember that night when the moon was at its fullest. He came ashore and sat on…”

nA huge golden dragon reared up from the sea and roared furiously towards the shore.

n“—————-”

nZeng Nan, who was caught completely off guard and almost deafened: “…”

nThat dude actually dared to go in the water with this guy around…

nWhat a badass!!
