Chapter 317 - Provocation? Headshot!

You’ve entered the underground ruins. You’re qualified to explore the ruins. Number of people allowed to enter today: 0

After Feng Luo stepped through the entrance of the ruins, the petal-like alloy door closed slowly behind him.

However, though the door was closed, the inside wasn’t completely pitch-black. It was because the players in both teams had already prepared light sources to carry with them!

The entrance was not as narrow as Feng Luo had imagined. Instead of cramped tunnels and pathways, it was a vast mountain-like cave that was around a hundred meters wide. On opposite sides of the cave, there were two large alloy doors!

Each team had one player wearing a pair of tech glasses flowing with data seated in front of their respective door. They were using the terminal to enter all sorts of data.

There would be many intelligent weapons and defensive measures in place inside an underground ruin like this, and all those measures needed Chip Masters to crack the programs.

Since War did not limit the number of life professions a player could have, many players would learn the basic skills of a Chip Master for situations like this.

In a worst-case scenario where there were no Chip Masters or if the Chip Master’s skill was insufficient, then the only solution for this sort of predicament would be opening the door by force. No one could predict what the consequences of that would be.

However, since both sides valued this exploration operation greatly, each had their own Expert Level Chip Master, and naturally, it was more than enough to deal with this first layer of defense.

The only thing that slightly surprised Feng Luo was that Little Witch was the Expert Level Chip Master of the Nightless Club group.

“Brother Feng, hurry up and get over here!” Chairman Jiao shouted when he saw Feng Luo enter. He was gripping his staff as he stood behind the serious-looking Rose Thorn, who had her heavy alloy shield raised.

While waiting for the doors to be cracked open, it was natural that both teams would be tense. There was too much bad blood for things to be completely peaceful.

In truth, both sides kept their glares and gun muzzles trained on one another. As for the Heavy Armored Warriors, their shields were raised and placed at the forefront of their respective teams.

If it weren’t for the fact that they had to conserve their strength for exploring the ruins, the people from Nightless Club might have already attacked!

However, as the tension reached its peak, the three players from September Guild in Lu Conglomerate’s team huddled together in a corner, whispering to each other.

“Seriously?!” said a Machine Gunner with luxurious-looking gear. He was looking in shock at the Manipulator who had just spoken.

“Yes, Brother Jiao said that we must think of a way to kill that Sniper. Even failing the ruin exploration is fine!” The Manipulator nodded and threw a glance at their Scout.

The Machine Gunner had a slightly higher rank, so he raised his head and glanced at Feng Luo before instructing the Manipulator directly, “Then you go ahead. This situation is so tense, it feels like we’re sitting on a keg of gunpowder. It’ll light up with a simple spark! But try to let them start the fight. That’ll make it easier to explain later!”

“Alright!”

The Manipulator also sneaked a glance at Feng Luo. After that, he moved a few steps backward and got closer to a young-looking Level 50 Heavy Armored Warrior equipped with a full set of Rare Grade gear.

“Captain Jing Kong, I’ve noticed a serious problem!” the Manipulator said quietly. “We’re definitely better than them in both equipment and profession synergy. If we split up and head off in two separate paths, we’ll make much more progress than they do! They have probably already noticed this, as well. I’m worried that instead of going through their door, they’ll follow behind us, waiting for us to open the path for them while they enjoy the results in the end!”

“If that happens, not only will we be helping them, we might even get ambushed from behind while fighting against monsters, which would be even more dangerous. After all, though they were ‘framed’ for the issue yesterday, they definitely have ideas against us…”

“Yes, that makes sense. We should definitely be cautious about them!” The Light Armored Warrior leading the Lu group narrowed his eyes as he watched Feng Luo’s group.

“We can try to goad them with words first. Make them say they won’t follow and take advantage of us from behind. That way, we won’t have to worry about being ambushed from behind while fighting monsters!”

The Manipulator looked delighted as his plan worked, so he added, “I know that you guys are from the same group, so let us convey this message so that your organization’s internal relationship doesn’t get affected any further!”

The Light Armored Warrior had a stern face, but he smiled as he turned to the Manipulator. “Our group… How can they be considered part of our group? They’re just a group of people relying on a few rich members of their club. In the end, they are just a bunch of prostitutes, and their relationship with us can’t be compared to our relationship with you, the September Guild!”

He remembered that before the mission began, a higher-up from the conglomerate had instructed him to improve their relationship with September Guild. That way, both sides could come to an agreement with regards to their cooperation faster!

“Your compliment is too kind. Brother Jiao would be delighted if he knew. I’ll go and talk to them now!”

The Manipulator’s delight was even more obvious by then. After that, he immediately poked his head out from behind the shield and shouted to Feng Luo’s group, “You on the other side, to prevent you from following behind us and taking advantage or ambushing us, let’s make an agreement now. We’ll walk our own paths, and no one side will be allowed to enter the other side. Anyone who violates the agreement will be the other side’s grandchildren!”

The Light Armored Warrior looked slightly perplexed as he heard the words. Although he felt that the words seemed to be a provocation, he did not say anything. After all, the Manipulator had gotten the message across, even if he’d done it rather rudely!

“F*ck. What the f*ck do you mean?”

However, on Nightless Club’s side, their reaction was a little more extreme.

What the hell do they mean? Saying that we’ll follow them and take advantage of their work!?

Agreement? F*ck your agreement!

The ruin was initially discovered by Mu Zi’s group in the first place. Now Dark Night Stars was using it as a favor, and they were still going to talk about an agreement?

Although the thin Chairman Jiao looked like a coward in front of Rose Thorns, he actually had an incredibly bad temper. He immediately started cursing. “You were still suckling on your mother’s teats when I began playing virtual reality games. Agreement? Are you even qualified to make such an agreement?!”

“If it weren’t for the fact that we would waste the chance to explore the ruins today, we’d already be killing you right here. Do you really think that I’ll let you go…”

“Hehe… You’re really overconfident, huh? The Scout hadn’t maxed his level, and you’re even using Snipers to fill your numbers. Do you really think that your team can complete the ruin exploration? Your group will definitely trigger the ruins’ defensive system, and we’ll have to suffer because of that. It would be better if we settled things here…”

The Manipulator intentionally insulted Feng Luo and the Level 49 Mu Zi who was killed the day before. Feng Luo was already raising the Eye of the Thunder with an ice-cold expression on his face.

The Manipulator’s contemptuous smirk was top-class, and he definitely scored full marks for his provocation skills! By the time he finished speaking, he had already retreated behind the shield.

His words should have done enough to bring about the results he wanted!

However, just as he retracted his head, a dull gunshot rang out. After that, a white light flashed.

Bang!

A bloody hole appeared in between the Manipulator’s eyes. At the same time, a red lethal damage counter appeared above his head!

“-4266!”
