nThe next day, before dawn, Feng Luo was awakened by the alarm. He had set up a system alarm when he rested for the night. If someone around him entered a battle state, the system would wake him up.

nFeng Luo sat up from the bed of the double room. Although the room in the cruise ship had good sound insulation, he could still hear gunshots from the boat and shouts from the deck.

n“What happened?”

nOn the other side of the bedroom, a beam of white light flashed through Big Pineapple, and he sat up. In War, if the player went offline while in a vehicle, their body would be left in the vehicle and would move along with it. However, in this state, the player was protected from attacks by other players, and, in the case of an unexpected situation, the player’s party could remind him to go online through the virtual pod or the helmet.

nEveryone had decided to go into “hibernation mode” in the game, but Big Pineapple had sneakily gone offline in the middle of the night just because he was a picky sleeper.

nBig Pineapple yawned with a pair of sleepy eyes. “We were almost overturned during the fight with the Stingray. What monster do we have to deal with now? I can’t even sleep well! What a hard mission!”

nFeng Luo had already assembled his M110 and had identified the sounds from outside. Many of the shouting sounds on the deck were unfamiliar, and some were talking in a garbled language. “Not monsters. It’s a human!”

n“Humans?” Big Pineapple was confused.

nOver the team channel, Neutron Star gasped, “Hey, Luo Ye, Pineapple—are you guys awake?”

nIn order to prevent sudden situations during their sleep, all players except Red Queen were on duty, and this time, it was Neutron Star’s turn.

n“What happened?” asked Big Pineapple.

n“Sh*t! We’ve encountered pirates!” said Neutron Star, sounding a bit irritated.

n“Damn, pirates!” said Big Pineapple. “This is interesting! I’ve never seen one before.”

nBig Pineapple’s reaction defied Neutron Star’s expectations. He was stunned, then shouted, “Come out and help! Their numbers are quite large. The problem is that some NPCs have been killed!”

nThe death of NPC hired crews was a terrible thing. Not only because Red Queen would need to pay a huge pension, but, more importantly, because if these NPCs died, the cruise ship could no longer move, and they would be trapped on the sea.

n“Okay!”

nFeng Luo did not go to the deck but went straight to the window and lifted the curtains to extend the M110. Their room was on the second floor. Hence, he did not need his scope. In that position, he could clearly see the firefight and melee happening down on the decks. On one side of the battle was the NPC crew wearing blue and white uniforms; the other side were people who had tattoos all over their bodies and wore exotic clothes. Obviously, they were the pirates mentioned by Neutron Star.

n“The situation is still a good one!” said Feng Luo.

nOverall, the crew had the advantage, but there were new pirates on the sea climbing aboard by using hooks thrown onto the ship.

nBoom!

nAn armor-piercing bullet knocked back a pirate who had just climbed up the hooked rope, sending him into the sea. Then Feng Luo added another shot to the Level-38 virtual pirate to send him sinking beneath the sea permanently.

nThe sun had just emerged above the ocean horizon. These pirates had clearly planned to sneak aboard the ship and raid it during the night.

n“Hang on, I am coming!”

nBang!

nWith a dull bang, Big Pineapple, who was wearing a full set of heavy-duty alloy armor, jumped right out of the window of the next room. However, his action drew too much attention. A pirate a few meters away seemed to be shocked. Then he screamed and fired a shot at Big Pineapple with his assault rifle. The pirate’s gun was red and black in color and produced an odd, hoarse sound. The gun recoiled sharply with his continuous shooting—the last few bullets even flew upward instead of straight.

n“Hey. That weapon…”

nThe gunshot sounded familiar to Feng Luo. He was certain, after seeing the weapon’s shape and the effect of its shot, that it was the famous AK-47!

nThe AK-47 was like the Desert Eagle in that it was well-known by any military enthusiasts on planet Earth. The gun was famous because it had been designed by the Soviets in 1947. It was simple in structure, durable, and had a low failure rate. It had once been the most produced assault rifle on the planet, issued to soldiers from nearly 100 countries. Six countries which even printed the gun’s logo on their national emblem. However, the reason why most people were familiar with it was likely because it had been favored by many illegal armed forces and terrorists. Even in this game, it was a special gun that could only be purchased by terrorists.

nEven the pirates in War used the AK!

nFeng Luo lifted the gun and shot at the head of a pirate carrying the AK, resulted in a direct headshot.

n“Hey, are you okay?” Feng Luo asked Big Pineapple who was taking his own alloy shield from his backpack.

n“It was nothing,” Big Pineapple said, waving his hand indifferently. “This guy didn’t even take out a quarter of my life points after using a mag. Thank you, Feng.”

n“Not even a quarter?”

nFeng Luo was a bit surprised. The pirate had just blasted a full magazine of bullets from the AK-47 at close distance, with at least 20 of them hitting Big Pineapple’s armor. An ordinary Light Armor Warrior would have been killed in seconds. But Big Pineapple looked like he didn’t even care, saying that not even a quarter of his life points were lost.

nHow high is this guy’s defense? wondered Feng Luo.

nFeng Luo had to admit, anyone hired by Red Queen for a price of 200,000 credit points was bound to be abnormal. This applied not only to Big Pineapple but also to the performance of the Light Armor Warrior with the ID “Neutron Star.” He was also amazing.

nAt that point, Neutron Star was on the deck, fighting a burly figure with scars on his face. It appeared to be a Pirate Boss. This pirate was nearly two meters tall and wielded a machete in his right hand with a length of one meter. Whenever the knife touched the deck, a big hole was left in its wake.

nNeutron Star’s weapons were a pair of one-handed swords. In War, Light Armor Warriors could use two-handed swords, small shields, and one-handed swords, but most people chose to use a two-handed sword or a single one-handed sword with a small shield.

nFeng Luo had never encountered a Light Armor Warrior like Neutron Star who used two single-handed swords. Moreover, his two swords were special. One was longer than the other. The longer sword was his main attack weapon, while the shorter one blocked while attacking. He fought unlike other Light Armor Warriors. Rather than relying on critical strikes as main damage, he used ordinary attacks to slam the pirate boss continuously.

nAlthough they were just normal attacks, the number of consecutive damage values appearing over the pirate’s head totaled more than 1,000 every time—far exceeding the attack damage of other Light Armor Warriors. The normal damage of a Light Armor Warrior was mainly based on skill damage. A set of skill combos was almost enough to take down a weak enemy. But their ordinary attacks rarely dealt high damage.

nDue to the relatively realistic settings of War, the ordinary attack of a Warrior was related to various factors such as the player’s Strength, attack angle, and the speed used in the attack. Naturally, the damage caused by a gentle attack using the sword tip would be very low, and if the sword was held in both hands, the damage of a heavy sword would far exceed the former.

nHowever, Neutron Star’s attacks clearly violated this rule. The speed of the two swords was very fast, and the damage was high!

nA gift? Or rare skills? wondered Feng Luo.
