Chapter 119 - Basement Floor
n
n
nAfter a long day, both of them were exhausted. They leaned against the car window and did not say a word.
nThe scenery outside the window flowed quickly. Half an hour later, the car stopped steadily at the entrance of the Torres Mansion.
nWhen Lauren and Quinn entered the Torres Mansion at the same time, Franklin, who was walking down the stairs from the second floor, was surprised.
nHe had just finished working overtime in the study and had come downstairs to check if Lauren was back.
n
"Why did the two of you come back together? This is truly a rare sight,
" Franklin said as he walked up to the two of them.
nMr. Hayes also came over from the living room when he heard their voices.
nLauren was feeling puzzled.
n
"Franklin, didn't you say that I had to come back together with Quinn?
"
nAfter not seeing Franklin for a day, Lauren immediately clung onto Franklin and reached out to hug him when she saw him.
nFranklin shook his head, indicating that he had not said such a thing.
nThey both turned and looked at Quinn.
nQuinn scratched his head, looking as innocent as he could be.
n
"You didn't say that? Then maybe I remembered wrongly. Anyway, I'll go upstairs first.
" He then put on his slippers and went upstairs.
nLauren looked at Quinn's back with a strange expression. She did not know what was going on with Quinn.
nOn the other hand, Franklin could see something from Quinn's expression.
nQuinn's current behavior was exactly the same when he first got along with Lauren.
nQuinn obviously wanted to care for Lauren, but he was unwilling to say it out loud.
n
"It's okay, don't worry about him. He...
"
nHe would soon be convinced by Lauren.
n
"Why are the two of you together today?
" Franklin asked.
nLauren briefly explained the reason to Franklin, and Franklin did not ask any more questions. He only told Lauren to be more careful when she went out to play.
nHe now knew more about Lauren. Lauren might be young, but she knew what to do.
nFor example, she informed Franklin early in the morning before she went out today. Otherwise, Franklin would not be so relieved.
nBefore going to bed, Lauren summoned George from the soul storage device.
nLauren would give George and the rest of ghosts two hours of free time everyday. During this time, they would go to the same old place to see if anyone had left them a mission.
n
"There's no mission today either. Speaking of which, it's been five or six days since the last mission. There was never such a long gap before.
"
nAfter putting George back into the soul storage device, she sighed and lay on the bed with her legs stretched out.
n
"System Divine Nine, when is the deadline of this mission?
"
nLauren had nothing to do for the past two days. System Divine Nine had also rested for quite a while. It had even gone to look for Divine Three in the neighboring country to play for the whole afternoon.
nSystem Divine Nine: Host, this mission has to be completed in 12 days.
nThe anxiety of not being able to complete the mission caused Lauren to have nightmares for the entire night.
nTo others, having nightmares might be like having a dream about ghosts, but to Lauren, her nightmares were like having no meat to eat.
nSo, when Lauren woke up early in the morning, she immediately asked Mr. Hayes to make a few more meat dishes for her for lunch.
nOn the other hand, while Lauren's plan had come to a halt, Quinn's plan was going on smoothly.
nHe arrived at the parking lot of Golden Star Agency according to the time given by Obmar. Then, he waited for Obmar at the entrance he had designated.
nObmar soon appeared. He was wearing a black jacket and black pants, as well as a cap.
nAt first glance, he looked like he was going to rob a bank.
nQuinn looked at the half-sleeved t-shirt and cropped pants he was wearing. He felt out of place.
n
"You're here? You're quite punctual. Follow me now, but you have to hide behind that door later and don't speak. Pauline wanted me to come alone, so don't let her find out.
"
nObmar repeatedly instructed.
nQuinn nodded and promised repeatedly.
n
"No problem, don't worry.
"
nObmar pulled down his cap and led Quinn to a parking area that he had never been to before.
nThis parking area was very remote and far from the entrance. Most people wouldn't park their car so far from the entrance.
nQuinn followed Obmar's footsteps and looked around. He did not see any door that could lead to the basement.
nWhen they reached a corner, there was a wooden board on the floor. The board looked very ordinary.
nHowever, Obmar squatted down and moved the board away.
n
