nYan Mei’s mouth twisted when she saw Su Bei stealing glances at her while nibbling on her bottom lip. She had noticed her friend’s weirdness the moment she entered her office. A gleam passed through Yan Mei’s eyes.

n”Okay, spill it. What do you want to know?” Yan Mei queried.

nSu Bei drew in a long breath before looking up from the documents she was arranging on Yan Mei’s table.

n”That-“Su Bei trailed off, looking at Yan Mei.

n”The man who came here this morning-“

n”Leng Shao?” Yan Mei interrupted her.

nSu Bei nodded. “Yes.”

nYan Mei’s right eyebrows shot up.

n”What about him?” Yan Mei asked as she drummed her fingers on the table, waiting for Su Bei to speak.

n”Were you guys in a relationship? Like were you guys romantically involved?”

nSu Bei asked as she gazed at the floor.

n”Uh-hm,” Yan Mei replied with her voice thick with amusement. She was clearly enjoying Su Bei’s gawkiness.

nSu Bei’s shoulders hunched when she heard Yan Mei.

n”Oh,” she said with disappointment evident in her voice. Even though she liked Leng Shao, there is no way she would fantasize or have a crush on her best friend’s ex or the guy she was romantically involved with. That’s breaking the girl’s code.

n”You like him.” Yan Mei said with certainty.

nA flush crept on Su Bei’s face as embarrassment racked her.

n”No, I don’t!”

nYan Mei chuckled, “Yeah, and tomatoes are black. I believe you.” She said sarcastically.

n”I really don’t.” Su Bei quickly retorted.

nYan Mei shook her head.

n”It’s okay if you like him. Leng Shao is a heartthrob that most women swoon over with that signature smile and dimples of his. If you are ready to fight with crazy fangirls, I’m ready to give you my blessings.”

nSu Bei quickly looked up and met Yan Mei’s eyes flickering with amusement.

n”You-you don’t care that I have a crush on the guy you were romantically involved with?”

nSeeing the horrid look on Su Bei’s face, Yan Mei leaned back in her chair and burst into laughter.

n”Pftt…romantically involved?” Yan Mei tried to control her laughter.

nSu Bei scrunched her face in confusion.

nYan Mei could clearly see the confusion in Su Bei’s eyes, her words, and her attitude. Yan Mei could have enjoyed riling her up but thought against it and just smiled crookedly.

n”It would be fatal to get romantically involved with Leng Shao since I was already dating his best friend when I met him. The first day I met him at the bus station one rainy day as he put an umbrella on my head and smiled softly at me. I knew I have earned myself an elder brother in the form of a potential friend.”

nYan Mei explained with a look of nostalgia on her face.

n”You know we became really good friends without knowing we both know one person in common. I still remember the look on his face when he found out I was dating his best friend.”

nA smile crept its way onto Su Bei’s face.

nYan Mei rolled her eyes, “Now stop acting like a teenager having her first crush and hurry. We will be late for the meeting.”

n”Oh right,” Su Bei hurriedly picked up the document needed for the meeting.

nHer movement paused when a certain man with a dimple flashed through her eyes.

n’I didn’t get to see him when he was leaving.’ Su Bei’s mood dampened. She doesn’t know when she will see him again.

nThe moment Leng Shao got into the car, he took a deep breath to calm down his emotions. The information he had just obtained was too much for him to process. Clenching his fist, breathing heavy with an onslaught of emotions. Leng Shao sat in his car, immobilized for a long time.

nThat stupid Wang Lu has really messed up big time. Because of his ego, he didn’t just lose his wife, who loves him more than anything. He also lost his-

nLeng Shao’s train of thoughts was interrupted by the sound of a ringing tone. He groaned as he picked up his phone. His furrowed brows softened when he saw the person calling him.

n”Mom.” He called out softly.

n”Leng Shao!” Mrs. Leng excited voice reverberated in Leng Shao’s ears.

n”How are you?”

n”I’m good, Mom. What about you?”

n”I’m good. When will you come back home? I missed you. Come home, please!” She rambled.

nLeng Shao smiled, “I don’t know, mom. Especially now that I have met Feng Mei.”

nMrs. Leng stiffened on the other side of the phone. ‘Did he just say he met Feng Mei?’

n”What did you say?!”

nLeng Shao knew how much his mother loved Feng Mei as her own daughter. He had seen how devastated his mother has been when Feng Mei had disappeared. She had used every resource she had to aid in his search for her.

n”Yes, Mom. Feng Mei is really alive.”

n”Oh my God! Where is she? How is she? Is she okay?”

nMrs. Leng asked excitedly.

n”Mom, don’t worry. She is okay.” Leng Shao coaxed his mother.

n”Where is she? I want to see her.”

n”Okay, mom. I will arrange for you to come to City S.”

n”Alright!” Mrs. Leng couldn’t wait to see Yan Mei and hold her in her arms to confirm she is really alive.

n”See you soon, Mom.”

n”Okay.”

nOnce Leng Shao ended the call, he tapped on the steering wheel while he fell into deep thought.

nHe has to hurry up and find the person responsible for causing harm to the woman he loves. He wouldn’t rest until he has found the person, and once he does, he would make the person suffer a fate worse than death. A light flashed through his eyes as he started his car.
