Chapter 54 - Intelligent Zombies

nA strange black fog was spreading out. It was like tentacles in the darkness, constantly probing and touching, anxiously trying to enter Enoch’s Floating Island.

nIn the end, the black fog was stopped.

nEnoch’s floating island seemed to be resisting the black fog, but it only lasted for an instant.

nThe light barrier protecting the entire floating island flickered a few times, but it no longer resisted the black fog’s invasion. Instead, it allowed the black fog to surge into the floating island.

n“It’s simply like a drunken old man who saw a wh*re!” Enoch looked at the black fog with a look of disgust as he squeezed into his floating island.

nThis time, the black fog appeared even more anxious, as if it had been stimulated by something. Even before the light barrier had allowed it to enter, it had already impatiently tried to break through the light barrier.

nThis was unreasonable!

nEnoch was even more certain now. The black fog’s abnormal behavior and the sudden advance of the attack wave all indicated one thing.

nSomething had happened between the Divine Tree Realm and the Netherworld.

nAlthough Enoch was still unclear what had occurred, the set time had suddenly changed. It was an unreasonable fact.

nUnder the current circumstances, the danger level would be unimaginable. A mystery was behind any irrational change, but such mysteries weren’t something that the current Enoch could come into contact with. Thus, he could only temporarily restrain his curiosity and focus all his attention on the enemy in front of him.

n“Come! Let me see what kind of piece of trash you are!”

nEnoch stood in front of the Energy Fruit Tree, looking at the black fog that intruded his home with a fierce expression.

nFacing these ‘guests’ who didn’t follow the rules, apart from death, Enoch wouldn’t give them any gifts or hold a welcome ceremony!

n“Uh…”

nOf course, these rotten corpses that kept roaring wouldn’t care about these things.

nOne by one, zombies with a rotten stench walked out of the black fog while roaring. Their bodies were swaying like a baby that had just learned how to walk.

nHowever, babies wouldn’t be as ugly as them!

nThe zombies that walked out of the black fog were more than the previous two waves’.

nFrom the moment the black fog had entered the floating island until now, less than a minute had passed. However, at least 100 low-level zombies had already appeared, and more zombies were walking out of the black fog.

nIt was as if there was no end to it.

nThis made Enoch frown. He reached out his hand and gently wiped his nose. He was very unhappy, so he ordered Lightning and its mischief, “More and more pieces of trash keep appearing. Lightning, clean them up!”

n“Squeak, squeak!”

nAfter receiving Enoch’s order, Lightning, which was already prepared for battle, immediately squeaked and rushed forward.

nThe mischief of Berserk Rats followed behind it. They were also prepared for battle. Under Lightning’s lead, they charged at the zombies with high fighting spirit.

nThese huge Berserk Rats were around 50cm in length. Not only were they extremely fast, but they were also very strong.

nEach Berserk Rat was like a speeding motorcycle, crashing heavily into these zombies.

nThese zombies were already in bad shape, barely able to stand, so the Berserk Rats knocked them down effortlessly. Before the zombies could fight back, the Berserk Rats had already torn them into pieces.

nThese low-level zombies were no match for the Berserk Rats. They didn’t even have the strength to resist, and the Berserk Rats’ sharp teeth and claws tore them into pieces.

nEnoch had 100 Berserk Rats, and each of them could defeat a Flame Launcher.

nThe zombies that had entered Enoch’s floating island were only a little more than 100. Still, the Berserk Rats were able to kill them all in the blink of an eye.

nEnoch was delighted with the Berserk Rats’ battle prowess. This was indeed the outcome he wanted to see.

nBut soon, Enoch found something wrong.

n“The zombies stopped entering the floating island!?” Enoch muttered in confusion.

nHe carefully observed his surroundings.

nThe black fog that had invaded the floating island hadn’t dispersed, which meant that there were still zombies within it.

nNonetheless, no more were walking out, which gave Enoch an uneasy feeling.

nDue to the black fog’s invasion, the cool breeze had stopped.

nThe depressing air and the undeserved silence made Enoch worry even more.

n“Lightning, be careful. Don’t get hurt!” Enoch didn’t let down his guard and ordered Lightning to stay vigilant.

nEvery Berserk Rat was Enoch’s baby, so he didn’t want to see anything happen to them.

n“Squeak, squeak.”

nUpon detecting the concern in Enoch’s voice, Lightning and the other Berserk Rats started to squeak happily.

nEnoch became even more silent upon hearing their squeaks.

nAlthough he still didn’t know what was going on with the black fog around him, his gut feeling told him something was wrong. It was as if something was spying on him in the darkness!

nThis made Enoch very uncomfortable, and he kept feeling a sense of danger.

nBut what exactly was it?

nEnoch didn’t know, but there was one thing he was very clear about—there must be something dangerous in the black fog!

n“This is troublesome!”

nEnoch reached out his hand and wiped his nose again; then, his eyes became fierce.

n“Mutated zombies… Based on the zombies I encountered in the Love Farm Dungeon, this should be the handiwork of mutated zombies, right?”

nMutated zombies were different from special zombies and ordinary zombies. They were a kind of zombie that had almost been resurrected and had become even more dangerous.

nThey were living creatures with intelligence and not filthy corpses the black fog had forcibly transformed after they died.

nHence, Enoch attributed this strange impasse to mutated zombies.

nBut what Enoch didn’t understand was the reason the mutated zombies were doing this.

nSoon, Enoch understood.

nAs the black fog churned, zombies appeared on the floating island one after another.

nUnexpectedly, these zombies didn’t move. Instead, they quietly looked at Enoch like statues.

nEnoch immediately realized what they were doing.

n“They’re accumulating their strength! These zombies know how to make strategies!?”

n
