Chapter 837 - Xytra
Looking at the situation of the city that was attacked by numerous opponents, Jason couldn't help but feel a little bit conflicted.
Their current location was quite far away from Xytra and nobody would be able to sense them.
Despite that, seeing the masses of beings that belonged to the Shadow walker alliance didn't really make him feel all that good.
They had wanted to find Jennifer's father in Xytra, after all.
Because of that, Jennifer wanted to rush towards the army that was attacking the city, the moment she saw what was going on.
Fortunately, she was unable to take another step because Jason held on to her wrist with a firm grip.
"Are you insane? Why would you enter the fray, right now? Get your act together!
" Jason admonished her with a deep frown on his face, staring straight into Jennifer's eyes.
If he were to evaluate the situation Xytra was in, Jason would most likely give the city a 0.1% chance to overcome the threat.
After all, he was able to see the cultivation base and mana fluctuations of every single being. This made it easier for him to assess the attacking side's combat force while the same applied to the defenders of Xytra.
With that in mind, he knew that not only the number of Prismar and Ascendion stage Cultivators was much higher on the attacking side, but the number of Specta stage beings was not less either.
There were a total of 10 Specta stage cultivators, and from the looks of it, only four with the same cultivation base were present in the entire city.
If these four could not simultaneously fight against two or three beings at the same cultivation stage, Jason didn't know who could defend the city.
Instead, they would have to protect their own lives first before extending a helping hand.
Fortunately, Jennifer calmed down, realizing that she had been too impulsive.
This caused her to take a few deep breaths before she hovered backward, stopping next to Jason.
Meanwhile, Jason didn't let go of Jennifer's hand, which allowed him to react quickly if she were to act too impulsively once again.
Furthermore, Jennifer was much calmer, when he held her.
He could feel her pulse that had returned to normal which was another reason for not letting go of her.
Yet, instead of focussing too much on the moment, Jason continued to analyze the situation with a more precise assessment.
If he was only looking at the cultivation base of everyone before, he wanted to figure out the exact rank in addition to the cultivation stage of his opponents now.
That was the bare minimum he could do, given the presence of Specta stage cultivators on both sides.
Doing this allowed him to see that the defending side had a higher cultivation base owing to their ranking.
Adding this to the fact that the defenders were unable to see any special traits of the attacking side, they presumed that their chances to win were much higher than initially presumed.
This was great, but even better was the sudden commotion that ensued behind the attackers.
Out of nowhere, several hundred beasts had emerged from the ground, crawling out of the mud and soil.
These creatures wreaked havoc as they threw themselves on the Shadow Walkers and other races that attacked the city.
First, Jason thought that he was seeing something wrong, but his Emperor Eyes didn't betray him.
Instead, the beasts he saw had tightly concealed cultivation bases, which made it difficult to perceive the beasts underground. This had given them the chance to surprise attack their opponents at the surface.
In fact, the enormous Earthworms that were enclosed in a thick layer of mud, made it seem as if they were wearing strong armors that would protect them from most attacks.
Thus, it was no wonder how the earthworms had terrified the Shadow walkers, turning the game upside down.
They were each more than a hundred meters long followed by a gigantic mouth at the tip of their body, looking like a giant mass of flesh with several hundreds of lengthy needle-like teeth.
With a single attack, they killed more than a dozen opponents, leaving behind nothing but droplets of blood that gushed out of the Earthworms' mouth the moment it closed it.
This made it seem as if the devoured opponents were killed in a manner similar to how an iron maiden functioned.
The only difference Jason perceived was that dying due to the Earthworm should be even more painful, which caused him to flinch involuntarily.
However, instead of averting his attention, he stared at the battlefield.
It was then that he spotted one of the enormous Earthworms which was much larger and broader than the rest.
It attacked one of the Specta stage powerhouses that was busy fighting one of the Xytra city defenders at the same cultivation base.
Yet, while the Devir noticed the attack, allowing him to step back in the last moment, the Shadow Walker at the Specta stage realized this too late, as his entire body had already entered the gigantic mouth of the Earthworm.
Only a moment later he released his entire mana, but everything was useless.
The Earthworm's mouth closed, and its teeth punctured the Shadow walker's body, whose mana had been partially nullified.
When Jason saw this, he couldn't help but feel a little bit disgusted, but instead of holding Jennifer back from attacking, he forced her to regain her senses as he pulled at her.
This forced her out of her own train of thought. Looking into her eyes, Jason only offered a simple piece of advice.
"Don't fly too low, otherwise the Earthworms might reach you!
"
Jason had already figured that the Earthworms were supposed to help Xytra but that didn't change the fact that they were beasts.
Thus, they wouldn't care if a few allies would be eaten or get buried under their heavy bodies.
At least Jason assumed so which made him warn Jennifer before he allowed Solaris to enter his body.
Through this, their mana was shared, and the mana consumption while using his fire affinity was much lower.
Jason presumed this to be the best way in order to defeat the opponents he had chosen to fight.
However, before he could even move, Jennifer had already released her three merged energies as she shot towards the battlefield with a serious expression on her face.
Even if she hadn't seen her father in a very long time, there were too many things she wanted to ask him and talk about.
As such, Jennifer would never accept if anything were to happen to him, not until she found the answers to the questions she had.
With that in mind, she exerted her movement technique, while releasing her aura that was slowly starting to be constructed. It was composed of her energies and everything she had learned during the last few years.
Through this, Jennifer quickly attracted the attention of the attacking force, and a grand battle ensued.
The defending side began to initiate a counterattack, revealing themselves by stepping out of the cover provided by the city walls.
Seeing this, Jason couldn't help but smile dryly as he exerted the Hermes Celeration movement technique T the basic mastery.
However, that was more than enough to exceed his capabilities of the Floating Sky movement technique at the perfect mastery.
Wasting no time, he catapulted himself towards the biggest crowd of Prismar and Initial phase Ascendion stage beings.
They were Jason's target, and the perfect choice to fight for someone like him, whose cultivation base was at the Peak of the Prismar stage, while his true combat prowess was much higher!
