Chapter 1496 - Who Made the Rule That Only Men Could Propose
Jiang Yuning was so shocked that his pupils constricted. He almost thought that he was hearing things. “Are you… proposing to me?”
Nian Xi was stunned by what she had just said.
She realized that she was getting bolder and bolder each day after getting together with Jiang Yuning.
She was getting used to it as well, and she would no longer blush at such things. Her heart rate did not quicken at all either.
Since she had said it already, she decided not to explain herself. Instead, she merely sat there, watching him quietly.
Jiang Yuning stammered, “You should… leave this sort of thing… to the man.”
He had been considering how he should propose to her when she was talking loudly with Fang Qi earlier. He did not want to be careless or insincere when it came to getting down on one knee.
However, he did not expect her to ask first.
“I might have been a little impatient! Who made the rule that only men could propose anyway?” Nian Xi was grinning, and she stroked his ears with her fingers as she sat on him. “I’m tempted by beauty right now, and you are a male version of a vixen.”
Jiang Yuning squirmed into the seat, his cheeks flushed red. “Xixi, stop… It’s ticklish…”
“Cut the nonsense! What do you say? Yes or no?” Nian Xi was straightforward in her reply. “I’ll give you one second to consider…”
How was he supposed to think in one second?
Jiang Yuning glanced at her lips, and he nodded his head without hesitation. “I’m willing, I’m extremely willing.”
Nian Xi burst into laughter. She thought that he was so adorable when he said that he would be extremely willing to accept her proposal.
She kept giggling without saying another word, her eyes sparkling and gleaming.
Jiang Yuning wrapped his arms around her waist, and they sat there as he hugged her quietly. “I’ll go get a ring tomorrow. I’ll buy a pretty ring for you.”
Nian Xi laughed harder as she lay on his chest.
Jiang Yuning was confused. “Why are you always laughing? What’s so funny?”
“Yeah, I don’t know why. I’m just so tickled!” Nian Xi looked at his face. It was always so easy and comfortable being around him.
…
The girl in his arms fell asleep at 11 p.m. Jiang Yuning had been staring at her in the dark for a long time before he finally tiptoed and got up. He went to the balcony and called Uncle Han.
“Mister, why aren’t you asleep yet? It’s so late.” He could hear loud background music wherever Uncle Han was at.
“Uncle Han, where are you?” Jiang Yuning asked.
“The bar!” Uncle Han chuckled. “I don’t have to take care of you at night now. I’m just out for a few drinks to relax.”
“Uncle Han, it’s not right to go to a bar at such an old age,” Jiang Yuning replied seriously.
“Get to the point, Mister,” Uncle Han said softly. “What’s the matter?”
“Yeah, the TOX organization. I remember hearing about it,” Jiang Yuning said softly.
Uncle Han was shocked. “You still remember that organization?”
“Nian Xi brought it up today,” Jiang Yuning said anxiously. “I heard that the criminal who injured Nian Xi died from eating this poison, K1NO2. Isn’t this toxin related to this TOX organization?”
“How did these things end up connected with each other?” Uncle Han’s voice was serious.
“I don’t know either,” Jiang Yuning followed, tugging at his hair. “Did Nian Xi get hurt because of me? Are they spying on me…”
“Mister,” Uncle Han interrupted him. “I’ll investigate this matter. Things may get complicated if this is truly connected to the TOX organization. Do you remember that explosion that happened when you went to Vietnam with your father when you were a child? It was related to the TOX organization, and your father has mentioned it to you before. You became a lot more of a recluse after that incident, which is why I’m surprised that you even recall the organization. After that incident, the police made a big arrest and placed a lot of their men behind bars, but I heard that their leader got away.”
