nAn Lan laughed while pointing at her own head, “I don’t know about the rest, but I’m sure there’s something wrong with you here. It had been confirmed by the doctor too.”
nXu Baohan was speechless.

n“Would you like me to prepare some soup for you in the afternoon? As soon as it’s done, I’ll send it over to you.” An Lan recalled on Li Yuchen’s words that she had to be more sympathetic towards the patient.
nXu Baohan was stupefied, “There is a great distance between your house and the hospital. The journey will take approximately an hour. Just get takeout and don’t worry about it.”
n“It’s okay to eat takeout for a meal or two; however, it’s not healthy to eat it every day. I’m okay with it, but you’re still a patient,” An Lan sighed.
nHis heart pounded as he looked at her tired face, smiling, “I appreciate your kindness, An Lan. Thank you for everything.”
n
n
nAn Lan felt embarrassed by his burning gaze, “Well, it’s the least I could do, and it’s not a big deal.”
n“It’s not a small matter to me,” Xu Baohan lowered his head, feeling a little dejected, “it is my duty as a man to perform these tasks. Though we’ve only been dating for a short time, you’re still here to take care of me.”
nHe seriously doubts that all these would drive An Lan away as he had not well-treated her.
n“I appreciate your kind intentions; however, I’d rather you would never have the chance to take care of me like this. My only desire is to be healthy and not get sick, hurt, or fall from the building,” An Lan raised her hand in protest, “in the past, I was not very fond of my clients, but now I have a new perception of them: They’re all quite beautiful. When I see you like this, I tell myself to cherish my life even more. I’d also realized one should not be too thrifty with money. I have to spend what I need to spend, as I might die any day.”
n
n
nXu Baohan did not respond.
nHe could not tell if it was an illusion, but he could feel the sense of relief from her face that she was not the one who fell from the building.
n“I understand if you do not want to order takeout, but your house is too far away. Go to my house instead; it’s not far from here,” Xu Baohan gave her the key to his house.
nAlthough stunned, An Lan still agreed to it for the sake of convenience.
nShe had never been to Xu Baohan’s house before, and she did not even know which neighbourhood he lived in.
nXu Baohan gave her the exact address and added, “Oh right, there are some electronic stores near this road at my house. Get me a cellphone while you’re at it.”
n
n
n“Sure, what’s your budget, preferred brand, and model?”
n“I will do whatever you think is good-looking, regardless of the price or brand, as long as you like it. But my only request is that I want a domestic device.”
nAfter a moment of silence, An Lan smiled, “That’s patriotic of you.”
n“Of course.”
nComparatively, An Lan thought about the foreign gadgets she had at home. She had even purchased imported cultures when making her yogurt, which appeared traitorous in contrast to Xu Baohan.
nOn the way back to Xu Baohan’s house, An Lan stopped at one of the stores to buy the phone. She originally wanted to get the device with a curved screen, but the same model with a flat-screen was much cheaper.
nThinking about it, she decided to buy the latter. After all, saving money for Xu Baohan meant saving money for herself.
nUnlike men, only women needed good phones.
n
n
nShe then went to the supermarket to buy vegetables before heading to Xu Baohan’s house.
nIt took her some time to find his neighbourhood. The high-rise elevator unit had uneven and dense greenery, which creates a highly comfortable atmosphere for the environment.
nShe used the given key to open Xu Baohan’s main door. Everything in the house was expensive, and the interiors were decorated in a luxurious style.
nUpon entering, An Lan realized there were still many things she needs to learn about the man.
