nWhat……
nRieta was startled to the point where her heart beat wildly.
nThump, thump.
nIt was painfully strong and dizzyingly fast.
nHer breathing became choked.
nShe thought that if she didn’t scream or let something out of her right then and there, she would choke to death.
n“Of course. I somewhat wish to be born as a daughter abandoned by the King of Liz.”
nNo!
nRieta cried out in her heart.
nI’ve never . . .
nNever even once.
nI never felt grateful to Father.
nIt’s true that life here was good, but the truth was . . .
nDeep in her heart, she was always longing for a beautiful land where wheat and barley would sway.
nWarm people and weak-hearted brothers . . .
n“It’s here, Lord Noel.”
nAt that moment, a boy’s voice was heard from somewhere in the greenhouse.
nShe didn’t know who the other person was, but Rieta looked around in surprise at the word ‘Noel’.
n“The greenhouse that the Princess likes. Lord always says that greenhouses are boring, but if you see them for yourself, you will change your mind.”
nThe face of the other person was still invisible. Who in the world was that?
nRieta tilted her head.
nA while ago, the two people who had said that they wished to be abandoned by the King of Liz as well suddenly held their breath and began to sneak away.
nPerhaps because the second son of the Duke, Noel Mayer, was coming here, they quickly shut their mouths and decided to disappear.
nTheir conversation may cause disputes with the Duchy.
n“. . . They’re gone.”
nRieta murmured a little, and she took a deep breath.
nOf course, her stuffy heart still ached.
n“Are you okay? Princess?”
nThe voice that had called to Noel a while ago sounded out from right behind Rieta.
nA boy of her age with pretty silver hair was looking at Rieta with concern.
nI’m fine.
nRieta was trying to answer that, but somehow it didn’t sound from her mouth.
nOne assumption came to mind.
nThe male protagonist of this novel had pretty silver hair.
nThere are many other people with silver hair besides the main character, but this is the first time she’s seen anyone who shines like an ocean full of sunlight.
nSo, Rieta pondered.
nShe wondered if the boy in front of her could be Hugh McLean, the male protagonist of the novel.

nThat Hugh McLean.
n“Oh, I apologize. I intervened willfully. But . . .”
nThe silver-haired boy bowed his head.
n“I don’t think you would enjoy such a story.”
nThe boy’s speech was a little slow, his pronunciation clear.
nHe seemed to care about the fact that Rieta may have trouble understanding.
nHe might have been influenced by the wrong language in front of the Princess.
n“And I apologize for lying.”
n“Lying?”
n“I used the name of the Lord.”
n“Oh, Noel.”
n“That’s right. The Lord is not with me as of now.”
nHe used his wit to save Rieta from that situation.
n“Thank you.”
n“I, I didn’t mean to overhear that.”
n“Nevertheless.”
n“Oh, right.”
nThe boy raised his arms near his chest as if to introduce himself.
n“I’m . . .”
nRieta pricked her ears and waited for the boy to say his name.
nIs he really the male protagonist?
n“Ah!”
nBut the boy did not say his name, and quickly straightened up his back as if he had remembered something.
n“Please, please wait! Can you wait for forty seconds? Sorry. I’ll be back in just forty seconds!”
nForty seconds? There was no problem in waiting for such a short period of time, so Rieta nodded her head.
nBut why all of a sudden? Aren’t you trying to say your name? I doubt he’ll ask around because he forgot his name.
nThe boy turned around and left the greenhouse.
nA few nobles who had entered the greenhouse looked at him curiously, as such unruly behavior did not suit a residence of the Imperial family.
nRieta had nothing to do, so she counted in her head.
nWhen she had counted up to thirty-eight seconds, the boy returned back to the greenhouse gasping for breath.
nHolding a single white flower.
n“Did I keep you waiting? I’m sorry.”
nHe took his handkerchief from his chest, wrapped it around the flower, and politely held it out.
n“I have heard that you should not pluck the flowers in the greenhouse. I brought this with the permission of the attendant, so don’t worry.”
nHe held out the flower again, and Rieta accepted it with a bewildered face.
nUntil then, she couldn’t figure out why he was so passionate about bringing flowers.
n“I almost would have committed the rudeness of saying hello without flowers. Forgive me. I am Hugh McLean.”
nHe continued to bow down even after his greeting.
nRieta looked at his silver hair flowing forward with light, admiring it again.
nHe really is the male protagonist.
nThough she thought she might be able to meet before the heroine appeared, it was surprising and even nice to meet him like this.
n
