nSong Ci smiled smugly. No wonder Lu Gan liked to tease her. It was so fun. She liked doing it now too. His reactions were so amusing. Song Ci bent down and whispered into Lu Gan’s ear, “I’m just kidding. After so many years, my secret love has finally borne fruit. Without a doubt, I cherish it. I’ll sleep with you tonight.”
n
nLu Gan instantly came to life.
n
n“You’re not going to sleep with Yujin anymore?”
n
n“Yu Jin is already 6 years old. He’s very mature. On the other hand, you’re only 26 years old. You still need someone to look after you!”
n
nSong Ci said with a smile.
n
nLu Gan pressed the space between his brows. He did not utter another word and pushed his wheelchair toward the study room.
n
nSong Ci followed from behind. Just as she was about to ask him what he wanted to eat for lunch, Lu Gan’s phone rang.
n
nIt was Lu Hongyong. He reminded Lu Gan about the trip to the Lu family’s residence for their family meeting this afternoon.
n
nLu Gan nodded and said, “Do you still remember what I said before?”
n
n“I do.”
n
nLu Hongyong was displeased when he heard Song Ci’s name. That woman even had a child with her. How could she marry Lu Gan? Besides, Song Yujin had his own father.
n
nObviously, Lu Hongyong did not say these words in front of Lu Gan. Otherwise, their family meeting would be filled with quarrels. Moreover, Lu Gan was not lacking any support.
n
nThat day, the Lu family’s residence was very lively. Lu Hongyong had two younger brothers, Lu Hongju and Lu Hongchang. He also had a younger sister, Lu Suying. They brought their spouses and children with them. It was truly a big family.
n
nWhen everyone had arrived, Lu Hongyong said, “The children can stay on the first floor to play. Lu Xu, keep an eye on them. As for the rest of you, go to the conference room.”
n
nThe conference room was on the third floor. Song Ci looked around the entire first floor. There was no elevator! The Lu family clearly did not lack money. This meant Lu Hongyong was not bothered with Lu Gan.
n
nSong Ci frowned unhappily and asked around for assistance. She was very disappointed with the Lu family and felt sorry for Lu Gan. Despite that, she did not show it.
n
nOnly Lu Chunyue walked to Lu Gan’s side and said, “I can help”
n
nSong Ci was pleased to hear her words. She thanked Lu Chunyue.
n
n“You’re welcome.”
n
nLu Chunyue said as she supported Lu Gan.
n
nWhen they reached a corner, Lu Chunyue saw Lu Xu sitting on the sofa. The latter was playing games on his phone. He did not care about the people surrounding him. Lu Chunyue raised her voice and shouted at him, “Lu Xu, stop playing. You’re the oldest so keep an eye on your little nephews and nieces!”
n
nLu Xu nodded reluctantly and put down his phone with a displeased expression.
n
nLu Chunyue pursed her lips. She was equally dissatisfied and complained to Lu Gan, “Lu Xu is already ten years old this year. Since he’s my father’s eldest grandson, he’s spoiled. He can’t differentiate between right and wrong. All he does is play games all day.”
n
nLu Gan chuckled.
n
n“You have to be more strict with him.”
n
n“Right? But my father disagrees. No matter what I said, he won’t listen.”
n
nLu Chunyue glanced at Lu Gan. Among the men in their family, he and his late brother were the most outstanding. Unfortunately, one died and the other was injured.
n
n“Second brother…”
n
nLu Chunyue said softly.
n
n“I know that you’re in pain, but I still think you should take over Lu Corporation. Lu Heng would have wanted you to replace him. It shouldn’t be Lu Jie.”
n
nWhen Lu Hongyong said something like this, he had to face Lu Gan’s fury.
n
nHowever, when Lu Chunyue said it, Lu Gan stayed silent. Finally, he said in a low voice, “I’m not in good health nor do I have the energy. Chunyue, do you understand? I just want to lead a peaceful life with my family. Nothing else matters.”
n
nLu Chunyue could hear the sadness in Lu Gan’s words. She sighed and stopped talking.
n
nThe conference room on the third floor was huge. Everyone took their seats, but there was no place for Song Ci.
n
nLu Hongyong said in an unemotional and practical manner, “This is Song Ci’s first time attending our family meeting. My memory is bad because I’m old. I forgot to tell the maid to prepare a chair for you. Just stand there for a while.”
n
nLu Gan sneered. He did not expect to be so angry right from the start. Lu Heng’s seat was reserved for him. It was the opposite of Lu Hongyong’s. Lu Gan looked at his father. Then, he reached out and pulled Song Ci into his arms, pressing her down onto his lap.
n
n“There’s no need. Since we’re married, she can just sit in my arms.”
