n‘You know what’s waiting for you out there. He’s big and bad and probably fuming in anger right now.’

nLu Xinyi sighed to herself, letting her mind chastised her for being so careless. Staying at the Shen Mansion wasn’t as comfortable as their home. She wished they could go back home and have their daily routine.

nThe car crept up the long gravel driveway past the main gate. Lu Xinyi contemplated if she should go slower, but the thought of her husband waiting and watching them arrived somewhere changed her mind.

nOnce she parked the car at the garage, she knew there was no escaping this time. They stepped out from the car and one of the maids came to help them with their shopping bags.

n“I know what to do, Xinxin. Let’s run away together. You know, me and you. My husband left me for another business trip and I bet Shen Yi is up there waiting with his pitchfork.”

nLu Xinyi cast a wary glance on Xiao Lan’s direction before plastering a smile on her face. -.

n“Listen, Xiao Lan. I love you and I care about you and everything, but I’m sure if we run away together Shen Yi will hunt me down. Not to mention you aren’t my type.”

n“Oh, hahaha,” Xiao Lan burst out laughing, “What’s your type then? Please don’t tell me it’s tall, dark and handsome because you will just describe the wishes of half of the female population.”

nLu Xinyi gazed thoughtfully. She hadn’t really thought about it before.

n“I don’t know, but I can say all the things I want into a man, I already found it in Shen Yi.”

n—

n“Lu Xinyi.”

nShen Yi’s stoic voice sent trimmers of delight on her spine. Why did she feel excited than worried about her punishment now? Part of her wanted to run away and play a hunting game with her husband, and the other wanted her to submit herself into his waiting hands.

nShe had opened the door of their bedroom, and what greeted her made her drool. Not from the food this time, but from the deliciousness of Shen Yi’s almost naked body. It seemed like he just finished his shower when she arrived. What a perfect timing.

nHe was standing next to their bed, rivulets of water dripping down his chest from his still damp and wet hair. His face unreadable but his eyes practically smoldered at her form.

n“Hey, darling. I missed you.” Lu Xinyi walked up to him and planted a kiss on his lips, pretending not to notice how his eyes narrowing on sight of her. She quickly stepped away from him, making sure they had enough space between them.

n“I assume you have brought a lot of things these time.” His eyes landed at the three shopping bags on her hand. He took it from her check the contents before dropping it on the nearby table.

n“I spent most of it for Xiao Lan and for her baby.” Lu Xinyi let him removed the tie on her ponytail, releasing her hair from its confinement. She almost let out a low moan when he started to run his fingers on her mane.

n“I’m sorry for leaving without a word. I was just bored lately. With my foot being injured I couldn’t practice in the kitchen or play with my dogs. I thought it will be alright to go out with Xiao Lan this time.” she explained.

nShen Yi stepped closer to her, looming over her until her eyes met up with his. He lifted a hand, his forefinger running on the side of her face.

n“I’m not trying to cage you or anything but could you at least tell me where are you going? We have a limited time before you go to Silver Leaf. Will you hate me if I tell you sometimes I wish you wouldn’t pass the Silver Leaf’s examinations?”

n“No, why would I? If I fail, what are you going to do?’ Her lashes fluttered once he started kissing her face. His hands slipped beneath her shirt and rubbed her flat stomach, imagining her round with his child.

n“I see no reason why we should delay having children then.”

n“A smart answer.” Then Lu Xinyi frowned as if she was missing something. Shouldn’t he be mad at her right now? Why had he let her off the hook so easily?

n“Wait. What’s the catch? There’s something you aren’t telling me.” Her tone definitely held suspicion in it. What was with these talks about having children?

nShen Yi released her from his hold and mumbled to himself.

n“Grammie asked me a favor to let my nephew and niece stay with us. Are you okay with that?”

nWait. What? Lu Xinyi couldn’t understand.

n“I have no problems with it. I just don’t understand why we have to take them in,” she said truthfully.

n“My cousin got pregnant out of wedlock and died in childbirth. Since then, the twins had stayed with Aunt An. She will be having medical treatments abroad and she asked Grammie to look out for the twins. What do we do? These children might be part of the family, but it is not a decision I can make alone.”

nShen Yi couldn’t understand why there were so many changes in his life. When he married Lu Xinyi, he was sure he was going to spend their married life peacefully with their two dogs.

nNow, his home was invaded by his younger brother, his ex-fiance befriended his wife and always took the first taste test on Lu Xinyi’s cooking, two dogs that keep her attention away from him and now they were about to take in two children.

nWhy did it look like they were playing playhouse then?

n“Then take them in. I think it would be better for them to stay with us than with a complete stranger.”

n
