Chapter 116

nShen Xue was dumbfounded. His older brother was really mean to him, he couldn’t even remember when was the last time they didn’t argue about something. Well, he kinda missed the older brother that Shen Yi was when they were younger. But he was also glad that after his brother married Lu Xinyi, the glimpse of that brother he missed.

nHe stared at the chicken butt with narrowed eyes. There are a number of myths surrounding the juicy back end of the bird and he’d never tried one before. Yes, the sweet stench of E.coli might be wafting in the air but he dared not to take it and ignored Shen Yi’s teasing.

nThis Garlic Herb Butter Roast Chicken definitely beat the pants off of any rotisserie chicken he’d tried before! It was flavorful and had a crispy skin, juicy meat which goes well with the creamy mashed potatoes that Lu Xinyi and little Yuyan made to compliment the dish.

nShen Xue wondered if he could convince his Big Sis to open her own restaurant than going to Silver Leaf Academy to study. Ah, he wasn’t looking forward on the day she was to leave temporarily to study. What would happen to him and his brother while she was gone?

nAfter dinner, all of them was filled with joy. Shen Xue leaned back on his seat and tapped his tummy. A happy tummy, indeed. Just about he was to stand up, Shen Yi held his arm keeping him on his place.

n“What?” -.

n“Your payment,” Shen Yi replied with a cold voice.

nShen Xue frowned. Didn’t his brother said he would only need to help Lu Xinyi and the twins? What payment was he talking about?

n“Go and wash the dirty dishes. Lu Xinyi will put the twins to bed and will have no time to wash it.” Shen Yi replied.

n“What?!”

nShen Xue looked at the dirty dishes at the sink and his face paled. Damn, his brother didn’t have servants on his house and only kept Madam Jin to help Lu Xinyi with the household chores. He still couldn’t understand why his brother kept a minimum staff on his side, not that he wasn’t able to pay them.

nOnce Shen Yi and Lu Xinyi left the dining area with the twins, Shen Xue pulled out his phone and dialed a number. His brother never mentioned anything about him doing the chore personally so he made a call to his maids to help him with the task.

n“Ha! You think you can bully me? You wish!” he muttered to himself.

nThis second young master of the Shen family would never surrender to his elder brother!

n—

nAn hour later, Lu Xinyi went back to the master bedroom and noticed that her husband still working at his desk, typing some documents on his laptop. Their room was dimly lit and knew that it may take time for him before he finished his work. He had explained that he needed to do more work these days since he just acquired some properties under his name.

nSighing to herself, she leaned on the doorway and carefully scrutinized the man she’d married. He was the kind of man most women will seek after and would dream to marry because of his wealth and popularity. He was obviously popular to both gender and wouldn’t be short of admirers.

nLu Xinyi didn’t mind that he didn’t speak that much into public but she kinda liked that he was more talkative and expressive when he was talking to her. After all, she hadn’t known him that long but her heart was already at ease when he was around.

n“What’s up?” Shen Yi asked when he noticed the lingering stare his wife had on him. The corners of lips curling into a smile as he looked at her.

nLu Xinyi’s heart skipped a beat on his smile. It had come as a great surprise to her that he was able to make her feel this way, but not an unwelcome one.

n“The kids are already asleep.” she responded before sauntering towards the bed and sat on his side.

n“Are you sure you’re okay with them staying here?” Shen Yi turned his seat around to face her, noticing the tiredness on her face.

n“I’m okay. I know the struggles and the feeling of being passed around to your relatives because you don’t have parents.” Lu Xinyi said dejectedly.

n“I didn’t mean to hurt you.” Shen Yi whispered which made her still and stared at him with wide eyes. How many men will acknowledge these words to their woman? Simple words that could easily solve problems if one could understand the other.

nLu Xinyi bit her lip and smiled bitterly. “I know,” but it was enough for her to know that he cared about her and that what matters.

nBefore she could pursue the thought any further, her attention was caught by one of the drawers on his side table. It was slightly open. Something was stuck on one side that forbid the drawer to be closed properly.

n“What’s this?” she asked.

nPulling the material from its confinement, Lu Xinyi took in the sight of the cover of the book before her face turned deep crimson red. She threw back the book from where she had taken it as if she was scathed by touching it.

nShen Yi was too late to save his wife from embarrassment. She’d already seen that wedding gift his father gave to him. Ah, he really didn’t need it but it wouldn’t hurt to try some, right?

n“Darling, it seems my father couldn’t wait for grandchildren. Would you oppose the idea of trying some of the recommended positions?”

nThe devilish grin on his face made Lu Xinyi wondered again why she’d agreed to marry him. She covered her face with both of her hands while her husband laughed at her blushing face.
