Chapter 120

nChairman Sun’s words didn’t sit well with Shen Yi. How dare this old geezer try to threaten Lu Xinyi in front of him? What was so good about the Sun family anyway? Unlike the Shen family, the feud within the Sun family was as bad as any other socialite families.
nIt was known that the Sun Corporation was now dominated by Chairman Sun’s children from his mistress after Sun Meixiu died in an accident. If Lu Xinyi suddenly came back, there would be distress and havoc within the family.
nLu Xinyi grimaced. This was the very reason why she didn’t want to go back!
n“Why would I go back to the Sun family? What could I possibly get from you? As you know, I’m now the young madam of the Shen family. Whatever that Sun can offer to me, the Shen can give twice the amount of it.” Lu Xinyi bragged as she raised her chin up.
nShen Yi was very pleased that she had chosen to use her proper title as his wife. In terms of net worth, the Shen family was above the Sun anyway. Just like Lu Xinyi said, the Shens could provide anything she wished to have because she was the president’s beloved wife.-.
nChairman Sun creased his brow in disbelief. Lu Xinyi was harder to comprehend than her mother. Why couldn’t she understand that he was trying to give the best future for her? If she had agreed to marry Li Yuren, the young master of the Li family, he wouldn’t worry about his other children attempting to hurt or threaten her life.
n“You’re not going to fight for what’s rightfully yours?”
nThe young woman looked at him like she would rather be somewhere else than in his presence.
n“If it’s really mine, why do I have to fight for it from the leeches who are trying to get it? Why do I have to prove myself? Didn’t you already give Feiyan the right to brag about being your successor? Who am I to compete with her? If you can’t protect my mother from her siblings, what made you think that I will throw myself in a pit full of snakes?”
nDid he now realize that none of his other grandchildren could inherit his vast wealth? Lu Xinyi was sure his other children would be happier once he was dead than when he was alive.
n“Leeches,” Lu Xinyi bit out. The viciousness of her tone didn’t deter Shen Yi from admiring her. She was someone who could love someone with all of her heart, but she can also cast one out once one wronged her. Shen Yi wished she would stop seeking revenge and just stay happily beside him, but he knew there were so many things she wanted to achieve for herself.
n“Xin’er!”
nDid she really think of the Sun family that low? That she would rather be part of her husband’s family than to join hers?
n“What?” She had enough of this nonsense. She might not be able to get the brooch anytime soon, but she swore in her mother’s grave that she would have it back!
nShe had expected more from her grandfather. The old man was a shriveled creature, feeble and walking with a cane. He looked as though a puff of wind could blow him down. He had a hand tremor and the constant waggling and bobbing of the head.
nThe old man’s deep wrinkles seemed to carve a map of his life on his still agile and mobile facial features. His eyes were framed by thick white eyebrows, and on his stubbled chin were white whiskers.
n“Come back. You have to.” The old man extended his hand.
n“No.” Lu Xinyi crossed her arms. “I have no responsibility to your family. I am a Lu as well as a Shen now. My priority right now is to bear children for my husband to continue the Shen bloodline. You can keep your money. You can keep the backstabbing Sun family to yourself.”
nChairman Sun’s face was red from indignation. There must be something he could do to give Lu Xinyi her inheritance that she deserved. He realized that it was harder to comprehend her than his mother.
n—
nAlthough her rage had made Lu Xinyi’s thoughts into a blur, she realized several things.
nOne. Her mother was the legitimate child; hence, she should be the one to inherit Chairman Sun’s wealth and properties, but because he couldn’t keep it in his pants, he produced illegitimate children from another woman.
nTwo. Her grandfather was an ass. A total ass. This was all his fault. The problem started with him, and where did the family lead to? His wife abandoned him, her daughter was casted out from his family, and she, Lu Xinyi, was being harassed by his other children.
nThree. Her Aunt Ruying and Aunt Mingai were contesting for her inheritance. While they were able to force her mother not to get her share, Lu Xinyi still had some right to ask for her inheritance.
nFour. Her cousins, Sun Feiyan and Sun Qiyan, had been plotting behind her back all along. She wouldn’t be surprised that they were the one who’d been trying to force her to marry Li Yuren so she would leave the Sun family’s estate forever.
nFive. Because of the animosity between the Sun and the Shen families, Chairman Sun would rather see her married to the Li family, not caring if she was happy or not.
nThese brought her into the conclusion that the Sun family were full of assholes and undignified people.
nThe only thing she wasn’t certain was about her mother’s death. Seventeen years ago, her mother left her in the hospital to seek help from Chairman Sun, but what Lu Xinyi didn’t anticipate was it would be the last time she would see her mother alive.
nWhat happened then? How come her mother was killed in a car accident just outside the Sun Estate?
n
