Chapter 19

nAfter the long silence between them, him holding her as she cries, they continued on their way to Shen Yi’s place. According to him, it will take them an hour or two depending on the traffic on the main roads of the city. Lu Xinyi grumbled and decided to take a quick nap, giving Shen Yi some quiet time alone as he drives.
nBut his free time was cut short when Lu Xinyi woke up after an hour and started looking on her bag for snacks. It was almost seven in the evening but they were stuck in a traffic jam.
n“Shen Yi, I’m hungry.” Lu Xinyi said. They’ve been on the road for almost two hours and still haven’t arrived on their destination, his house.
n“…” but he ignored her.
n“Shen Yi,” she called again, pouting on her seat as she pleaded on him.
n“Didn’t you say you packed some snacks before we left the cruise ship?”
n“There’s nothing left anymore,” she said and sulked on the passenger seat. “Are we there yet? Can we get a dinner along the way?”-.
n“We’re almost there. Wait a little longer.”
n“Okay.” Lu Xinyi said but her own stomach disagreed with her with a loud growl. Shen Yi chuckled beside her. She was really that hungry.
n“Say, should we announce our marriage to your family soon?” she asked. There were still things and issues they haven’t decided yet.
n“No, not too soon. I can deal with my family. We can announce them maybe in a month or two. My father will surely suspect us if we tell them now.” he replied. He knew he couldn’t keep their marriage in secret for too long but he would rather take some precautions or else Lu Xinyi might get hurt.
n“My cousin is going back from Country D soon. I asked her if I could stay in her place.”
n“I thought we’ve already talked about it? That you’re going to stay with me.”
n“But Xiulan and I have talked about it even before you asked me to marry you.”
n“Absolutely out of the question. You’re staying with me and that’s final.” he retorted.
n“I thought you said you wouldn’t force me to do anything.” Lu Xinyi reminded him.
n“There are some exceptions, Xinyi. You should know about it by now,” he muttered darkly.
n“Okay, okay. I get it. I’ll talk to her. At least let me talk to her once she arrives.”
nLu Xinyi conceded. She should really not test his patience. They were newly married couple but unlike the rest, there were still things they didn’t know about each other. She dropped the topic so she wouldn’t infuriate him.
n‘I guess we will have to catch and learn.’
n“Do you believe in love at first sight?” she asked, staring out the window.
n“Why do you ask?”
nLu Xinyi stretched her arms and yawned. This long drive was making her tired already.
n“Nothing just curious.”
nThey both fell silent which wasn’t surprising but when Shen Yi broke it…
n“Should I walk past again so we could test it out?”
n“W-what?!” Lu Xinyi sputtered out. Shen Yi’s grin curved.
n“You’re impossible.”
nShen Yi and his pick up lines were too much for her to handle. There was this one time they were having dinner at the cruise ship when he asked her if she likes sales out of the blue. And when she asked why he was asking such a question, his answer sent her into a coughing fit.
n“Because if you’re looking for a good one, clothing is 100% off at my place,” he said.
nLu Xinyi wanted to beat the ** out of him by saying it out in a public place. Why the hell he was single if he could flirt to her like this?
nThe car turned into a neighborhood. Lu Xinyi was still absorbed in her thoughts for a moment before she actually pays attention to where they were. Her brows furrowed. The houses in this neighborhood were big and luxurious. Was this kind of an exclusive subdivision? She’d never been to one before.
nShen Yi slowed the car down, seeing his house near them.
n“We’re here,”
nLu Xinyi’s eyes were wide as she took in the place. His actual house was a two story with a white and grey motif. There were some trees on the front yard to give some shade on the pathway toward the driveway.
n“This is your house?”
n“Ours” Shen Yi corrected her. “Welcome home, my dear wife.”
n
