Chapter 224

How did this man find out about her relationship to the Sun family?

Lu Xinyi stepped back and refused to answer his question. To think that she had already decided to cut her ties with that family! Was this the reason why Sun Feiyan sought her? To remind her that she could not hide the Sun blood that runs in her veins? Was this man also part of her cousin’s scheme?

“Miss Lu, please answer the question.” The man insisted on pushing his mic towards Lu Xinyi while the other reporters found it surprising that Lu Xinyi was related to the Suns.

“She’s a lady of the Sun family? Then why is she representing the Shens instead?”

“Wait! Didn’t Chairman Sun mention he has one grandson and four granddaughters? The grandson wasn’t in the country while Sun Feiyan and Sun Qiyan have been working now at Sun Corporation.”

“That means Lu Xinyi is one of the other unnamed heiresses!” -.

Their curiosity got the best on them and bombarded the poor woman with questions from all sides. Lu Xinyi was trapped and surrounded. She couldn’t find an opening to sneak out from these reporters. They continued to act uncontrollably, and she began to feel scared for her life.

“Excuse me! Please let me through!” She sounded distressed while trying to move forward.

“Your statement, Miss Lu!”

“Please let us take at least a picture of you!”

“No, please. I have to go.” Lu Xinyi tried to cover her face with an arm as the photographers started snapping pictures of her. “Oww!”

In the midst of this commotion, a sleek Maybach stopped near the exit. Qiao He stepped outside from the passenger seat and called Lu Xinyi’s name.

“Miss Lu! Please step forward and get in the car. President Shen is waiting for you.”

The reporters stopped harassing Lu Xinyi and turned to Qiao He. Every single one of them froze at the booming sound of his voice. They all stepped back at Lu Xinyi and began to tremble.

‘Did President Shen see what they’d just did to Lu Xinyi?’ They thought.

When Lu Xinyi didn’t respond to Qiao He’s call, Shen Yi opened the door of the back seat and called her himself.

“Lu Xinyi, if you don’t come here at this instant. I don’t mind leading you inside the car.”

Shen Yi sat inside the car, exuding a dangerous aura while glaring at the reporters. He hadn’t thought that the press would seek Lu Xinyi too soon. When his wife still didn’t respond, he slipped out of the car and adjusted the lapels of his coat.

The press trembled under his terrifying gaze. It was only then that Shen Yi saw his wife, slumped into the dirt—holding her left ankle. Pain and discomfort were written all over her place. One of those rabid reporters might have pushed her too hard and twisted her ankle. AGAIN.

“Do you have shame at all?” He roared at the reporters who were now trying to figure out how to escape from Shen Yi’s cold gaze, “For a juicy scoop you’re so desperate to get, you will push a woman until she was hurt?! Unacceptable! Out of my sight!”

The reporters ran away so fast, not paying attention to where they would go as long as they could hide. Most of them had regrets that they hadn’t got a chance to take photos of President Shen and Lu Xinyi together.

“Are you alright?” Shen Yi offered a hand to his wife. Lu Xinyi gladly took it and staggered on her feet. She leaned most of her weight on her husband so she wouldn’t add pressure on her injured feet.

“It hurts, but I’m okay.” She let out a sharp hiss.

With no one in sight except Qiao He, Shen Yi picked up his wife in bridal style with ease. He then walked back to the car and settled her at the backseat. After they had entered, Qiao He quickly shut the door and climbed into the front passenger seat. The backseat belonged to the couple; how could he dare to disturb their time together?

“Let me put your seatbelt on.” Shen Yi didn’t wait for her to respond and did it while Lu Xinyi stared at him in a daze. She still couldn’t believe that she’d married this man. She wondered what kind of life she would have if she didn’t take that cruise vacation and hadn’t met him there? She was probably nursing her broken heart, blaming herself for boyfriend and best friend’s betrayal.

“We’re going to the hospital.”

Lu Xinyi gasped, completely forgotten her swollen ankle. “What? Why?”

“What else but let the doctor check your foot. You know I’m starting to think that I should get insurance for your feet, and maybe for your hands, too.”

A delicate eyebrow rose at his words. “You’re joking, right?”

“Of course not. Now that you are officially a student of Silver Leaf Academy, it will only take time. Soon, you’ll be a professional chef. The first one from the Shen family.” Shen Yi answered in a matter-of-fact tone of voice.

Lu Xinyi beamed him a smile, and he couldn’t help but smile with her. How could she abandon her husband and choose the Sun family over him… when every moment spent with him proved that she had made the right choice of marrying and falling in love with him?
