nNeedless to say, the old woman passed out from the shock she received from the news. The news was too much for her that she promptly loses her consciousness and fell to the ground in a dead faint.
nIt was several minutes later did Madam Jin woke up in a dizzy haze. She heard a feminine voice talking to her Young Master.
n“Oh, my–” Lu Xinyi stammered as she glanced over the old woman. “Is she alright?” she asked worriedly.
n“I think so.” Shen Yi replied, still calm even though his wife was panicking on the situation before them. “She just passed out. Nothing to worry about, Xinyi.”
n“What should we do with her?” She asked gently, her brown eyes looking over the old woman lying on the couch and then meeting Shen Yi’s gaze.
nMadam Jin recovered her consciousness, her torso raising slightly up while one hand cradling her head.-.
n“Oww,”
n“She’s awake! Shen Yi, you idiot! You should be careful with your elders. What if she died from a heart attack?” Lu Xinyi scolded her husband as she helped Madam Jin to sit upright. “We’re sorry, Madam Jin. Are you alright? Do you need something?”
nThe old woman shook her head and took deep breaths.
n“Are you really his wife?” she asked.
nShe had to know if this woman is really the new mistress of the house. The Young Master had never made a joke before. If there was someone who was notorious on making tricks and jokes that would be Shen Xue.
nLu Xinyi nodded and smiled nervously. She had no idea how to react.
nWould the same thing will happen if she met his family too? She hoped not.
n“Xinyi, why don’t you take something for Madam Jin to drink. I’m sure she has questions for the two us.” Shen Yi said as he sat at the opposite chair on the living area.
nLu Xinyi nodded and headed to the kitchen. Minutes later, she came back with a tray with two glasses of fruit juice and cup of coffee for Shen Yi. Setting the tray on the coffee table, she gave a glass of fruit juice to Madam Jin before taking her own glass and sat at the armrest of Shen Yi’s chair.
nShen Yi ignored his coffee on the table instead his hand went back to Lu Xinyi’s waist.
n“Young Master, I know it isn’t my place to ask but why did you get married too soon? I thought you were just having a break but you came back with a wife.” The old lady asked.
nDid the Young Master felt pressured by his own family? Did he just pick some random woman to marry so his family would stop bothering him about getting married?
n“Not really.” Shen Yi started. “Let just say we have to get married to avoid some problems”
nMadam Jin took a good look to her new mistress. Lu Xinyi didn’t look like the socialite women that she’d seen trying to flirt with the Young Master before. She looked very casual and normal. Her clothes didn’t speak of money and the way she speaks with the Young Master seemed like they’ve known each other for a long time.
nWait. Did the Young Master hide his relationship with Miss Lu from his family? Maybe they’d known each other for so long and that was why Shen Yi didn’t date other women at all.
nMarrying Miss Lu without informing the Shen family is something Shen Yi is capable of. But what could be the reason for the rush?
nMadam Jin’s eyes landed to Lu Xinyi’s flat stomach.
n“Miss Lu is pregnant, isn’t she?” she asked. “I mean is there a little bun in the oven already?”
nThis was the only reason she could think why Shen Yi decided to get married.
nLu Xinyi who was sipping her drink stopped and coughed violently in her hand. Her eyes stung with tears as she tried to steady her breath. Shen Yi’s hand took her glass and patted her back, helping her to get out whatever had stuck on her lungs.
n“Ahh, that. No, there isn’t one yet, unfortunately. But no worries, Xinyi and I will double our efforts. Right, darling?” Shen Yi turned his head to his wife.
nBut Lu Xinyi couldn’t say anything because her throat felt irritated from the sudden intrusion of fluid on her lungs. She could only glare at her husband who was grinning like an idiot.
nWhat the f*ck was he talking about? They hadn’t talk anything about having a child during their marriage.
nMadam Jin nodded in understanding.
n“It’s alright. You don’t have to feel pressure to get her pregnant. It’s usual for newly wedded couples not to have a child on their first two years of marriage.” she said but the idea of children making the Shen residence busy and full of laughter thrilled her.
n“I understand but practicing wouldn’t hurt, right, Xinyi?”
nLu Xinyi didn’t know if he was being serious or not. But dear lord, forgive her if she murdered Shen Yi one of these days for putting her in embarrassing situations like this.
n
