Chapter 277

“Miss Feiyan.”

Sun Feiyan’s assistant, Chen Anqi stood behind her as she stared outside of the full-sized glass window of her office. The dark sky had taken over, and the rain was falling hard outside.

“What is it, Anqi?” Sun Feiyan asked without turning around to face her assistant.

“The rumors about Lu Xinyi have started. The reporter we hired did his job well.” There was something amiss on the tone of her voice that Sun Feiyan was able to pick up.

“What’s the matter? You want to say something?”

Chen Anqi released a sigh and gripped the folder on her arms tighter. -.

“Your Aunt Mingai will arrive tomorrow afternoon. Are you sure you’re ready to face her? I’m worried about you, Feiyan,” she said softly.

As her mistress stood unmoving, Chen Anqi was able to appreciate her mistress’ beauty closely. Her eyes weren’t wide and bright like Lu Xinyi’s but mysterious and lonely. Her plump lips closed in a thin line as she thought thoroughly of her next plans.

Diamonds sparkled from her earlobes, and her slender throat had been left bare by her black dress shirt. The brooch of the Sun family pinned on the right side of her collar.

With the privacy of Sun Feiyan’s office, she was able to talk to her mistress like this.

“Anqi, do you what hospitality really means?” Sun Feiyan looked heavenward, noticing that the rain wouldn’t end anytime soon.

“What is it then, Feiyan?” Chen Anqi questioned. While everyone around them was cautious when talking with her mistress, Chen Anqi knew her better than the rest.

“Hospitality means making your guest feel like they’re at home and welcomed when all you wish to do is to kick them back to their own place.”

Chen Anqi kept silent, waiting for Sun Feiyan to continue.

“Sun Mingai will try her best to control me until I serve the purpose. Anqi,” At this, Sun Feiyan turned around and sat back on her chair, crossing her legs and looking back at Chen Anqi seriously. “Not only we have to deal with Lu Xinyi now. We also have to keep that old hag at bay.”

“I understand, Miss Feiyan, but what about Lu Xinyi? She’s so stubborn especially now that she has President Shen on her side.”

Tonight’s campaign launch of Yuan Jin and Lu Xiulan featuring Lu Xinyi as their model had suddenly become the talk of the town. Lu Xinyi had no idea that her name would be popular overnight. With her name hailed as Silver Leaf’s newest talent and rumors about her being a Sun miss, the campaign had intensified the situation.

Sun Feiyan nodded, clearly understanding why Chen Anqi was worried. After all, it wouldn’t be easy to go head to head against the Young Master of the Shen family. Shen Yi and Lu Xinyi wouldn’t be easily broken up not unless…

Her eyes glint with mischief.

“Do not worry about President Shen, Anqi. If I couldn’t make him leave Lu Xinyi, then I will make sure Lu Xinyi will.”

Lu Xinyi sat on the edge of the bed on Shen Yi’s side with her fingers running along the contours of his handsome face. She woke up early, feeling refreshed and energized from her uninterrupted sleep last night. She was lucky that Shen Yi didn’t complain that she hadn’t been in the best of moods lately.

Considering the events that happened lately, she barely had time to spend more with him. It was endearing that he still supported her in every way, and Lu Xinyi knew she couldn’t ask for a better husband than Shen Yi.

As her husband slept soundly, Lu Xinyi reflected on how they were doing as husband and wife. They were getting along pretty well which something she hadn’t really thought about when she married him. So far, there wasn’t a major argument between them though she was hoping that there would be none anytime soon.

Shen Yi was clear on what he wanted which made it easy for her to adjust to what she should do on a daily basis. She was perfectly aware that Shen Yi was spoiling her too much, that it was almost funny when she tells him no.

Her amusement waned a little when her thoughts moved to another topic they hadn’t really discussed. Zhichen and Yuyan’s adoption was put on hold, their father now contesting his right for his children. Now, they’d have to go back to Mama An. Her heart ached from the thought of losing the twins and Shen Yi being left alone once she started attending Silver Leaf.

Subconsciously, her other hand moved to rest on her belly. Since Shen Yi came back from his business trip, and just before the entrance exams, she hadn’t taken her pills diligently. She supposed with her busy schedule and restless days, her cycle messed up.

What if she was pregnant?

Lu Xinyi stopped touching her husband’s face. She threw up this morning, and her period hadn’t arrived yet. It made her feel giddy to think that she was pregnant, but she didn’t want to make Shen Yi worry. She was tempted to just take a home pregnancy test but decided to seek Yang Liqing’s help to find a doctor for a check-up.

Still, she wondered how would their lives change with a little toddler running around the Shen mansion—what features their future child would have.

Maybe his nose? She ran a finger on the bridge of Shen Yi’s nose and giggled when he twitched in his sleep. He mumbled something incoherent in his sleep but didn’t wake up.

Maybe his eyes and his thick lashes that fanned out against his cheeks? Lu Xinyi smiled as she traced his brows before running her fingers on his hair. Shen Yi cracked an eye open when she stopped. He wanted her to continue. It was then she decided she would love to have a child with the same color of his eyes.
