Chapter 443

“Do you need something from my Xinxin?” Shen Yi’s words came out like he was about to punch Zuo Yin’s face for touching his wife.

Zuo Yin turned and stepped back, making sure he was far enough from the devil’s reach. He could sense the dangerous feeling emitted from Shen Yi’s body. It seemed it would be hard for him to make a move on Lu Xinyi when Shen Yi was around.

He decided to leave Lu Xinyi alone this time. There could always be a next time, and when that time comes, Lu Xinyi would forever become his.

“I was merely concerned when I found Miss Lu alone in the corner. Although I’m a little curious as to why would you leave her at a time like this,” he replied.

“It’s none of your concern,” The demon king spat out disdainfully. He turned his head towards his wife and checked if she was hurt. He shouldn’t have left her alone even for a moment.

“Are you alright?”

“Yes, I’m okay. No worries. Why don’t we go back inside?” Lu Xinyi said, ‘And get away from this creep!’ she mentally added.

Why did her aunt bring back a creep with her anyway? As far as she knew, Zuo Yin was someone Sun Mingai adopted during her stay overseas. It was just Lu Xinyi wasn’t sure if he was legally adopted or not.-.

Shen Yi looked down on her face for a moment, his gaze softening slightly before the mask of indifference was—once again—on his face as he glared back at Zuo Yin. His eyes then turned to Li Yuren and Long Feng. Without a word, he led his wife back to the ballroom.

Lu Xinyi couldn’t help but sigh in relief, but she was aware of the two glaring women behind her. Heh, Sun Qiyan and whoever woman she was with could go to hell for all she cared.

“Are you sure you’re alright?” Shen Yi asked his wife again when they arrived at their designated table.

“Yeah, I’m okay,” Lu Xinyi insisted. The last thing she wanted to think about right now was that creep who tried to harass her. She was sure that something was wrong with that man. “That guy creeped me out though. I’m really glad that you’ve just arrived on time to save me.”

Although Li Yuren and Long Feng arrived before him, Lu Xinyi didn’t dare to mention them, for she wasn’t sure what Shen Yi’s reaction would be. Someday, she would properly thank Li Yuren for all the help he’d done for her.

“Stay away from that man. I didn’t like the way he looked at you. Who knows what he or Sun Mingai is planning against you?”

Lu Xinyi nodded, knowing that she needed to heed Shen Yi’s warning. She also felt the same way. There was truly something wrong with Zuo Yin. He was definitely up to no good.

Tang Lilou and her father came back and joined them for a while before Tang Shui whisked away Shen Yi to greet and talk with other businessmen.

The party continued. After the dinner had been served, most guests found a way to entertain themselves. Men discussed the latest trend about their businesses; women gossiped about the hottest star in the entertainment industry and the latest in the fashion industry.

When Sun Feiyan and Li Qiao appeared together, the women couldn’t help but be in awe with their beauty.

“Is it true? Li Qiao and President Shen used to date before?”

“Yes, I heard they were together during their college days but broke up when Li Qiao went to pursue her studies abroad.”

“Do you think there’s a chance that they’ll pick off where they left?” A woman asked, glancing at Lu Xinyi’s way. Her friend hummed and followed her gaze.

“Who knows, but it seems President Shen is really into Lu Xinyi now.”

“These people… do they think we are deaf not to hear what they’re talking about? Ridiculous!” Tang Lilou scoffed, her older cousin laughing at her reaction.

Lu Xinyi then glanced at the woman called Li Qiao, who was talking with Sun Feiyan. She didn’t know her cousin was acquainted with Shen Yi’s ex-girlfriend. Ah, no wonder Shen Yi used to like her. Li Qiao was truly a rare beauty that one could not ignore.

So how come her husband was head over heels with her? Lu Xinyi thought. She was neither elegant nor beauty like Li Qiao. They might even have opposite personalities.

She shook her head to clear out the thoughts from her mind. How much had she had drunk tonight? If her husband said he was done with Li Qiao, then so be it. There’s no point in worrying about things that had already happened in the past.

“Don’t mind them, dear. They just love to assume things and poke their noses on someone else’s business,” she told Tang Lilou.

It was then Sun Qiyan and her group appeared and crowded around Lu Xinyi and Tang Lilou. Both women stood up; Tang Lilou held unto Lu Xinyi’s arm and glared at Sun Qiyan and Chu Ting. She’d seen the two glaring menacingly at her Xin Jie when President Shen was dancing with her.

She knew by then that Sun Qiyan and Chu Ting were up to no good.

“Qiyan, do you need something?” Lu Xinyi gave her a pointed look. She knew well that Sun Qiyan wouldn’t willingly talk to her unless she wanted to provoke her.

“Oh, my friends wanted to congratulate you, Xinyi. Please at least give me some face and greet them,” Sun Qiyan’s lips curled into a sinister smile.

Lu Xinyi kept her RBF expression in place and regarded Chu Ting. She knew who this woman was. She was a popular actress nowadays. She was signed under Redux Entertainment which was owned by the Xi family.

Just remembering Xi Yunchuan, Lu Xinyi couldn’t help the anger simmering in her heart. One day… one day, he would fall by her hands.

“Miss Chu,” she gave the woman a slight nod.

Chu Ting chuckled and rolled her eyes, making Lu Xinyi arch a brow on her. What was wrong with this woman?

“Oh, Qiyan. She knew who I am. I’m quite flattered,” Chu ting said mockingly.

The way she looked at Lu Xinyi, like she was sort of an ant in her presence, infuriated Tang Lilou. She was clearly making fun of Lu Xinyi.

“Of course, dear. Who wouldn’t know who you are?” Sun Qiyan assured her.

“Heh, who did she think she is,” Lu Xinyi muttered lowly beside Tang Lilou. It was a good thing that there was enough distance from both women.

“The next Madam Shen of the Shen family,” Tang Lilou replied at once.

“What?” Lu Xinyi was confused as to what her cousin said.

“She’s been pining after President Shen for some time now. If it isn’t for the fact that she’s from the Chu family, Shen Yi would ignore her existence. I can’t believe there could be a shameless woman like her, chasing after a man who’s clearly never into her.”

So it was like this. Lu Xinyi laughed inwardly. So there was no point of being nice to this woman when she’s coveting after Shen Yi. What’s more, her connection with the Xi family had signed her fate as Lu Xinyi’s enemy.
