Chapter 448

At the mention of the bastard’s name who tortured and raped Sun Qiushan, Lu Xinyi was frozen on the spot. Her eyes grew wide, and her fingers trembled as she held onto Shen Yi’s arm. A cold shiver ran through her body as her blood started to boil in anger.

Just the mention of that monster’s name alone was enough to trigger Lu Xinyi and make her blood ran cold.

No wonder Shen Yi demanded her to calm down and keep herself in check. She doubted that she’d be ready to see the man who abused and tormented her beloved cousin for seven months. Just what kind of monster was Xi Yunchuan to hurt Sun Qiushan?

How was she supposed to face Xi Yunchuan without daring to rip his face off at first glance?

“Hold onto me and hide your face if you think you can’t face him today,” Shen Yi whispered to her, worried that she wouldn’t be able to handle this first meeting with Xi Yunchuan.

Lu Xinyi closed her eyes as she tried to stop her tears. She took a deep breath and buried her forehead in Shen Yi’s chest. She could hear his steady heartbeat, helping her calm down and reminding her that she wasn’t alone in facing her problems.

“Thank you, hubby. Thank you,” she whispered to him before pulling away to face the monster she was dreading to kill.-.

She knew she had to be strong, or else Sun Qiushan would never get the justice she deserved. It might take time, but Lu Xinyi would make sure Sun Qiyan and Xi Yunchuan would suffer hell on earth or follow Sun Qiushan in the afterlife.

Lu Xinyi could still see the last moments she shared with Qiushan clearly in her memory. The pain she was in, the suffering she had because of Sun Qiyan, and how she cried her heart into her.

Even the memory of her and her son’s face as they were buried together had made Lu Xinyi painfully aware of her reality that she had failed to protect those she dearly loved once again.

“President Shen, I didn’t expect that I’ll see you here.” An old man greeted him with a customary smile plastered on his face. Behind him was a man in his early thirties. He was wearing a custom-made suit that fit his body. He was handsome with dark eyes and a mysterious vibe.

“CEO Xi,” Shen Yi greeted back with a slight nod, “I’m here to accompany my woman tonight.”

CEO Xi grinned and patted Shen Yi’s shoulder before regarding the woman who was standing next to him.

“You are Lu Xinyi? Ah, you look better in person than seeing you on television.” The old man chuckled.

“Thanks for the flattery, CEO Xi.” Lu Xinyi forced herself to smile, but the moment her eyes landed on Xi Yunchuan, she could feel her shackles rising.

This man…

Xi Yunchuan didn’t seem he could be bothered to enjoy the event. His eyes were scanning the crowd as if he was looking for someone. Lu Xinyi sneered in her heart, knowing well who he was hoping to see in a crowd of people.

Did he really think that in Sun Qiushan’s condition after escaping from him, she would be able to enjoy and party with them?

CEO Xi’s laughter brought Lu Xinyi back on reality.

“I’m not trying to flatter you, Miss Lu. I’ve known your mother when she was still alive. I do admit that I once admired her for a while before meeting the love of my life, which is my wife. By the way, I want to introduce to you my eldest son, Yunchuan.”

Xi Yunchuan stopped looking around them and stood stiffly next to his father.

“Pleased to meet you, President Shen, Miss Lu.” He offered a handshake to Lu Xinyi, but she glared on it with a glint of hatred on her eyes.

It was Shen Yi who accepted the handshake instead, fully aware that his wife’s anger was threatening to burst anytime in Xi Yunchuan’s presence.

“Let me take this handshake. I forbid her to touch another man’s hand,” Shen Yi said as Xi Yunchuan threw a curious glance at his wife.

“Ohh… I didn’t know President Shen is dating Miss Lu exclusively now,” Xi Yunchuan replied.

If Shen Yi and Lu Xinyi didn’t know how Sun Qiushan suffered because of this man, neither of them would think that behind this proper and kind man, a psychotic and possessive monster was lurking inside.

“CEO Xi should know by now that I don’t share what’s mine to anyone.” Shen Yi threw a meaningful glance at Xi Yunchuan before releasing his hand.

“Ah, President Shen is right. I was just surprised that you’ve chosen to date Miss Lu, knowing she’s from the Sun family. Does this mean the Shen family is willing to fix the rift between the two families?” Xi Yunchuan asked.

Shen Yi’s tall, black-clad figured stiffened on the question. His eyes narrowing, jaws tightening in reaction.

“What Miss Lu and I have has nothing to do with our families,” he said in a commanding manner, daring the Xi family not to go overboard with their questions.

Lu Xinyi might hold some resistance to her revenge, but if the Xi family dared to interfere in their relationship, Shen Yi wouldn’t waste time in destroying them. Were these people starting to forget who he was and what he was capable of?

The old man easily picked up the warning from Shen Yi’s tone.

“Of course, President Shen. We understand.” CEO Xi assured him. “By the way, we’ve sent our intent to purchase one of your towers near Imperial Residences. Would President Shen consider our offer?”

“I’m afraid I haven’t read the proposal you were saying. Tell you what, I’ll ask my father for his opinion, and we’ll give you an answer soon,” Shen Yi replied.

CEO Xi creased his forehead. Everyone knew that Shen Yi had the absolute power right now within the Shen Group. His words were the rules within the company although he tried to remind everyone that he only listened to his father and to the Matriarch Shen.

Asking Shen Huang for his opinion? How laughable. Shen Yi was just stalling the plan while he awaited if someone would also place a higher bid on the property.

As the two kept themselves busy with business talks, Lu Xinyi kept her attention at Xi Yunchuan. As the man continued his quest to find Qiushan around, Lu Xinyi couldn’t stop her mouth to question Xi Yunchuan’s motive.

“Mr. Xi, are you looking for someone? I noticed that you’re preoccupied. If you’re looking for a guest, I can ask someone to check who’s in our guest list so you wouldn’t have to look around.”

Xi Yunchuan threw an icy glare towards Lu Xinyi. It was as if Lu Xinyi had touched his sore spot and was taunting him about it.

Lu Xinyi sighed in exasperation. She feigned her disappointment.

“I understand what you feel, Mr. Xi. I’m also worried right now. I’ve been waiting for the whole evening for someone to arrive. I wonder where Qiushan is. It has been seven months since I heard from her.”
