Chapter 477

She looked outside the window of the limousine they were in and sighed. The cold night hadn’t stopped the twins from going to the amusement park and enjoying the rides they took an interest in. It was almost past midnight when the two decided they had enough.

Before leaving Flair Apparel, Lu Xinyi had fired the manager for her incompetence and promoted the store attendant that greeted her when she arrived. She needed a capable staff that could manage her store properly especially when she wasn’t around.

She had also helped Shen Yi with his disguise as they would be going to the public with the children. For the couple, they didn’t mind appearing to the public together; but with the twins going out with them, it would be safe if they wouldn’t attract everyone’s attention.

“What’s on your mind?” Shen Yi asked beside her. The twins were now slumped between them with their heads on Lu Xinyi’s lap as they slept.

“What did Uncle say to you? I wasn’t able to talk to him earlier.”

“Just reminding me that he’ll pick you up tomorrow morning for your training,” he replied.

“What training? Why I didn’t know about this?” Lu Xinyi groaned, not liking that she’d be out again instead of spending her day sleeping on her comfy bed.

“Xinxin, he’s just worried that you’ll lose. This would be your first time defending your seat, and he also wants to know if you improved. By the way, did Chu Zhihao send you the money?”-.

“Oh, right. I was so busy with the twins I wasn’t able to check if he’d send it.”

Taking her phone, she checked her account and let out a whistle when she saw the amount was indeed transferred to her account.

“Wow, Chu Ting’s family is really a big shot. They were able to pull out this sum of money in a short time. Darling, how much money do you earn in a day? Look, I easily gained four million dollars tonight.” She winked at him,

“Xinxin, what will people say if they heard you are broke? You are my wife. They might think I’m not giving you anything.”

“Darling, don’t worry about it. No one will dare to talk bad about you, ah.” She reminded him.

Ah, this world was really taxing to women like her. Everyone would always have something to say about her actions and decisions, but who cares? Why did she have to care what people say around her when she’s not doing anything bad at all?

The next day, a heavy thump on the bed woke Lu Xinyi that morning. Her eyes flew open as she sat up, thinking she was forgetting something. The soft sound of giggling caused her to turn her head to find its source. She was still a little sleepy and took her a moment to recognize that it was Shen Yuyan who sat beside her with an enormous grin on her face.

She resisted her urge to groan from being woken up in her slumber. She laid her back against her pillows and closed her eyes.

“Mommy, it’s time to get up. Hurry!” The little girl’s voice was too loud for Lu Xinyi’s liking.

“Dear, why are you up so early?”

Hadn’t they passed out from exhaustion last night from playing games and taking rides at the amusement park? Just where did the twins find all these energies to start their day?

“It’s not early.” Shen Zhichen appeared and stood next to his twin sister. “It’s past nine now.”

Sighing to herself, Lu Xinyi pushed back the covers and got to her feet. She picked up a set of clothes from their walk-in closet and made her way towards the bathroom, pausing only to press a kiss on the crowns of the twins before telling them to go and find their daddy.

When she emerged from their bedroom and stepped into her kitchen where everyone was gathered, her eyes couldn’t believe how many people it could hold. Her kitchen was full with activity that morning. She was obviously not expecting to see so many people so early in her kitchen. The twins ran towards her, wrapping their arms around her with a greeting before running back across the kitchen and clung on Shen Yi.

She wasn’t surprised to see her mentor having breakfast with her husband and the twins. Meanwhile, another table was set up where her bodyguards ate in peace while discussing their next plans. With the twins staying on their home now while waiting for the final decision of the court, their home looked livelier than it was before.

She then noticed that ever since marrying Shen Yi, she hadn’t felt that loneliness she had when her parents passed away. Before, she was always alone; now, she had a family of her own.

“Good morning.” She pressed a kiss against Shen Yi’s cheek before taking a seat beside him. “Why’s everyone excited today?”

“We’re going to the beach today!” Shen Yuyan chipped in excitedly.

“Beach? At the season like this?” The autumn had just passed, and the weather grew cooler as winter had come.

“Xinxin, you can visit the beach even if it’s not summer. I’m bringing you to a friend of mine who’s running a restaurant near the beach. Your babies wanted to come, but they couldn’t convince your husband,” He Haotian explained as he continued with his breakfast.

“Ohh…”

“Mommy, can we please bring us with you? We won’t do anything to disturb your training.” The little girl pulled her sleeve, trying to get her attention.

“Yes, Mommy. Please? I’ll look over Yuyan if I have to… just let us come with you.”

Lu Xinyi eyed at her husband, but Shen Yi only gave her a shrug.

“It’s at least three hours of driving from here. Are you sure you won’t get bored? Fu Rui and Jiao Jiao are your mother’s bodyguards, not your babysitters,” he said.

Thinking about it, maybe he should also hire nannies for the twins in case he and Lu Xinyi’s hectic schedules wouldn’t allow them to check on the children.

“Would it be fine to bring the kids with us?” Lu Xinyi asked her mentor.

“I don’t see any problem with it as long as they can behave themselves. We’re only going for a quick visit to see if your tongue has improved over the weeks. I know Silver Leaf wouldn’t try to improve your palate using the lessons they have.”

Lu Xinyi thanked Zhang Qing when she placed her breakfast in front of her.

“I don’t think there’s a significant change on my palate. Silver Leaf focused on technical skills on cooking,” she commented.

“Actually, I didn’t come here not only to train your palate. Silver Leaf had called me for their upcoming event,” He Haotian said in a matter of fact tone.

Event? Aside from her cooking battle with Ye Xieren, Lu Xinyi couldn’t think of any event that Silver Leaf would host soon. Unless, of course, her brother purposely hid it from her.

“What is it?” she asked curiously. It would seem like a big event if He Haotian would willingly go back to the capital for it.

“The Interschool Culinary Competition. I’ll be one of the presiding judges for it.”
