Chapter 572

Huh? Need help?

Was she hearing things? Lu Xinyi thought. The times her husband sought her for help could only be counted on one hand. What could it possibly be that he couldn’t resolve by himself?

“Is this about the accident? Yi, did they find out what caused the explosion?” She tried to interrogate her husband.

“As expected, it was a gas leak; but they haven’t found the reason how and where the leak came from.” Shen Yi didn’t want her to get worried over the matter. He and Li Yuren were treating it as a threat or a warning for them.

Dare to hurt his wife? They must be really tired of living!

If he was able to crush Feng Zexian and beat the crap out of him once, Shen Yi didn’t mind repeating the same ‘mistake’ he’d done to protect Lu Xinyi.

As to who was behind it, they could only assume it was Feng Zexian. What troubled Shen Yi though was the likeness of the explosion to the one that caused Lu Sibai’s death. He couldn’t say it was just a coincidence, and his brother-in-law—Tian Lingyu—agreed with him.

Even before Lu Xinyi could ask for the details, the car came into a stop. Shen Yi stepped out of the car and helped his wife on her steps. -.

“Where are we?” she asked as she looked at the old restaurant called ‘Oriental Bliss’ that seemed out of place from the rest of the establishments around the area. There was a high-class western restaurant nearby filled with customers while the old restaurant had a few diners inside.

“Didn’t I mention before? I started looking for restaurants to invest in. This restaurant failed our assessment, but the family begged me to take over the store management. They wouldn’t mind working under me as long as I wouldn’t sell this restaurant and let their family’s restaurant gone for good.” Shen Yi explained as they stepped inside the restaurant.

They were welcomed by a young woman in her early twenties. She was wearing a faded navy blue long sleeve, long dark pants, and white apron around her waist. As soon as she saw Lu Xinyi, she let out a squeal and ran back in the kitchen, screaming Lu Xinyi’s name.

Lu Xinyi stood frozen on her spot.

What the hell did just happen?

She suddenly felt awkward being stared at.

Shen Yi pulled her with him and sat at one of the vacant tables.

A moment later, the same woman came out with an old man and two men who seemed related to her on tow.

“I don’t know what all the fuss is about.” The old man grumbled as the woman dragged him to follow.

“I’m telling you the truth! He brought Madam Shen with him!”

They stopped when they saw Shen Yi seating with a woman next to him. When Lu Xinyi turned her gaze towards them, their jaws dropped in shock.

Seriously though, what the hell was wrong with them? Lu Xinyi internally groaned.

The old man gasped and gave the man next to him a push.

“Why are you still standing here?! Go and serve them the complimentary tea!” Then, he turned to glare at the young woman. “And you? You’ve already seen them arrived, but you left them?”

The young woman pouted and stomped her feet.

“Hmph, I was just too excited when I saw her. Why do you blame me, Grandpa?”

The old man glared at her and strode towards Shen Yi and Lu Xinyi.

“CEO Shen, we didn’t expect your visit today; and you also brought Madam with you,” he said politely, his hands fidgeting.

“As I promised, I’ll consult my wife first before making a decision. After all, she would be the one who’ll look after the business once we closed the deal.” Shen Yi glanced at his wife, watching her sip the tea in silence.

The young woman stood at Lu Xinyi’s side, her eyes sparkling as if she was star-struck by seeing her idol.

“Do you need anything?” Lu Xinyi asked her. She didn’t like it when people watch her eat or drink.

The woman shook her head and held her tray closer to her chest.

“I’m just happy to finally meet you, Madam Shen. I’m Ji Mingqian.”

“Ohhh…” Lu Xinyi was at loss. She wasn’t comfortable with how Ji Mingqian looked at her.

“So why are we here?” Lu Xinyi asked her husband, taking a look at the menu Ji Mingqian handed to her earlier.

“As I said earlier, the Ji family wants our help. They are willing to sell their restaurants just as long as they can keep working here…” Shen Yi trailed off and seen his wife’s frown her brows.

“What do you like to eat?” he asked knowing she was eager to have a taste of the dishes.

“All of it, except for the drinks.” Lu Xinyi said, without batting an eyelid.

“All of it? Didn’t you have lunch earlier? Don’t come running to me later for stomach ache.” Shen Yi passed the menu back at Ji Mingqian and told her to serve all the dishes they offer.

“Wait!” Lu Xinyi called Ji Mingqian out.

“Don’t add anything special to the recipe. Just cook it the way you’ve done it and how you serve it to your customers, I want to see what kind of restaurant managed to take my husband’s attention,” she said with a grin.

Old Man Ji clasped both of his hands to the couple before taking his leave.

“Are you afraid of extra calories?” Lu Xinyi whispered against her husband’s ear subtly when the other diners weren’t paying attention to them. “Don’t worry, CEO Shen. Your wife is eager to help you with your problem.”

Her right hand slid further up his thigh. Though it fell short of her actual goal, it was enough to tease her husband.

Shen Yi’s breath hitched as she continued to tease him further.

“You better not turn back on your words later, wife.”
