Chapter 609

nShen Yi sat up with a startle, and all the medicines laying on top of the nightstand shook and fell down. He clutched at the pain radiating at his chest and arm, not sure how long he’d been asleep.

nTurning his head at the glaring, bright numbers on the clock on the nightstand, he realized that he’d been sleeping for some time now. It was already two in the morning, and he hadn’t shown up to welcome home his wife yet. He was sure that Lu Xinyi must be worried about where he was by now.

nHe remembered being brought back at the capital by Li Yuren with his insistence and met Li Qiao last night. After they left him in a hotel room to rest, Qiao He arrived an hour later to pick him up discreetly before taking him to one of the private hospitals his mother owned. He was out and had been sleeping to recover since then.

nTwo weeks ago—when he and Li Yuren raided Feng Zexian’s hideout, they didn’t expect to find a bomb planted inside, waiting for them. Few of Li Yuren’s men lost their lives from the explosion, and Shen Yi suffered a bad injury from it. Li Yuren was quick-witted enough to realize the gravity of the situation and hid Shen Yi from everyone’s eyes. Feng Zexian must be aware of his grave condition, and he’d probably use this chance to kill Shen Yi.

nNow, he was currently hidden in one of the private rooms with the hospital. His injuries were cleaned, and the wounds had been stitched properly—probably by his mother from the way it was stitched. Shen Yi was aware that he was wearing nothing beneath the hospital gown he was donning. His blood must have seeped through the clothes he was wearing earlier.

nStaring down at his hands, he groaned in irritation. He hated hospitals. Ever since he and his Uncle Jin encountered the car accident, he’d been in and out of it for years until he fully recovered and was able to walk again. -.

nShen Yi lifted himself out of the bed and walked towards the bathroom to wash his face. His face was as white as a sheet of paper, with his eye bags darkening from the lack of sleep these past days.

nPatting his face dry with a clean towel, he stepped back into the room—only to find four men had entered to see him.

n“Are you stupid? Look at you! Mom has just fixed you up, and you’re already moving around. Don’t you know how worried she was when Qiao He brought you here?” Shen Xue snarled upon seeing him not resting on the bed.

nShen Yi ignored his scolding and sat at the edge of the bed.

n“What bring you here?” He asked bluntly, not beating around the bush. He then eyed Li Yuren and Ye Xingjie who he hadn’t seen for weeks.

n“Boss Yi, bad news.” Qiao He hesitated. He was clearly nervous and at the edge already since his disappearance, and the recent event didn’t help him relax one bit.

n“What happened?”

nShen Yi grunted as he accidentally touched the wound on his shoulder. The shrapnel from the bomb was surely made to kill a person. He and Li Yuren didn’t suffer fatal wounds at their torso because of the bulletproof vests they were wearing that night, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t hurt from the explosion.

nHe bent over as the sensation of the excruciating pain nearly knocked him off, but he remained seated.

n“Tell me what’s happening,” he demanded. His brother stepped forward, invading his private space to help him steady.

n“Zou Yin and Feng Qianyu abducted Young Madam at the celebratory banquet,” his assistant responded.

n“What?!” Shen Yi jolted up and hissed as another round of pain shot through him.

nHe had no idea who this Feng Qianyu was, but he surely knew who Zou Yin was. Wasn’t that adoptive son of Sun Mingai whom she brought with her from overseas? Did Feng Zexian decide to conspire with Sun Mingai to seek revenge on him and on his wife? No, according to his sources, Zou Yin had been eyeing Lu Xinyi for some time now.

nThis didn’t surprise him at all. He knew that some men would take an interest in his wife. Who wouldn’t?

nSome might think that she’s fierce and had a cold heart but in truth, his Xinxin was as gentle as the breeze that brushed on one’s hair, soft as the moon setting in the sky and as warm and beautiful as the sunrise.

nThe news of her abduction was harsh, and it cut through his own flesh like a sharp blade. He had caused this, pushing her to stumble into such turmoil. In his absence, he had left his wife vulnerable to his enemies.

nHad he come back earlier, Lu Xinyi wouldn’t be taken away from him. If she were to die because of him, Shen Yi knew that he would lose a part of himself as well. He wasn’t sure if he would even continue to live without her.

n“Not only her. They’ve also taken my sister and Sun Feiyan. I guess they are really desperate to end this,” Li Yuren commented on one side.

nNo wonder Ye Xingjie was here. This man wouldn’t cooperate with them unless Sun Feiyan was involved in the equation.

n“Did you find out the location they are taken?’ Shen Yi asked Li Yuren. They could not waste another minute here any longer, knowing that Lu Xinyi and his sister were abducted.

nAt his question, Qiao He coughed awkwardly and confessed. Shen Yi might be forgetting something he’d done for his wife’s precautionary measure.

n“Boss, have you forgotten you’ve placed a GPS on Madam’s necklace. We’ve secured and verified the location. It’s an hour’s drive from here, but at this time, we’ll be able to arrive in less than forty-five minutes.”

nShen Yi nodded. How could he miss that? Turning his attention back to Li Yuren, he asked him. “Do you have a plan?”

n“We’ve just started special ops to save the hostages,” Li Yuren said with his monotonous tone. It was as if he wasn’t bothered or worried about his own sister and was merely doing his job.

n“I’m going with you,” Ye Xingjie interrupted their conversation, not wanting to lose his chance to save his woman. Zou Yin made a mistake by harming his Sun Feiyan.

n“Qiao He, bring me new clothes. We’ll leave as soon as possible.” Shen Yi told his assistant much to his brother’s dismay.

n“No. You can’t go with them. You stay here. I’ll go with them instead. Mom will kill me if she finds out I let you leave without her permission.”

nThat earned him a fierce glare from Shen Yi. Shen Yi pushed him away from him and slapped his hand from his uninjured shoulder. “Xue, we’re talking about Xinxin here. Do you really think I’ll do nothing here but to wait for someone to save her? My wife needs me at this time. I cannot just sit here and do nothing.”

n“Good. If you’re decided, then we’ll meet you outside in ten minutes. We’ve already sent someone to infiltrate the area,” Li Yuren said before leaving the room with Ye Xingjie.
