While the Magical Illusory Spell Formation was bathed in a blood red light, Yuna felt as though her head was about to split. A smothering mental energy blanketed her. She felt as though she was a tiny boat floating at sea, or a small lamp flickering in a tempest, completely unable to retaliate.
Within the Magical Illusory Spell Formation, the Horse Spiders that were conjured using mental energy had been petrified and frozen in their tracks, their bodies covered with deep gashes. As Flowing Venom increased the intensity of his attack, Yuna’s body trembled, nearly falling to the ground. At the same time, the splits on the petrified Horse Spiders appeared faster as they vanished into thin air.
Could there only be one last way out?
Looking at Yang Ling sitting in meditation not far away, his brows tightly locked, tears filled Yuna’s eyes. If it meant Yang Ling could be safe, she was willing to cast the Sacrificial Magic to burn her life force and perish together with this terrifying assassin.
But she wished so much that Yang Ling would open his eyes and look at her once before she died. She wished that she could return to the altar of the God of War, to the paradise of the Beastmen, while lying in his embrace!
“Brother Yang, I am leaving, Yuna’s leaving!”
Thinking back to the time she had spent with Yang Ling, recalling the moment when they were riding on the Unicorn together while speeding across the plains, remembering how Yang Ling would sometimes look at her in a daze, Yuna’s face was bathed in tears, her sparkling teardrops falling onto Yang Ling’s face.
She wiped the tears from her face, and hesitated no longer. She placed her right hand on her chest as she sat on the ground, beginning to murmur. Every time they encountered a powerful opponent, Heavenly Foxes were able to burn their life forces and souls using Sacrificial Magic, and through that obtain a massive amount of mental energy. They could use that to perish together with the enemy they trapped within their Magical Illusory Spell Formations.
Thousands of years ago, the race of Heavenly Foxes had used this method to kill off many of the powerful sage level fighters from the Church, forcing the other party to agree to a truce, giving the Beastmen a chance to breathe and avoid a total massacre.
After understanding that his Wizard Power was unable to purge the poison, Yang Ling had quickly circulated the life force in his body, continually repairing the nerves that had been destroyed by the poison as he tried his best to stop the expansion of the burning energy.
Just like that, the scorching energy generated by the poison corroded his muscles and nerves over and over again, while he repaired them each time with his life force. Even though he could suppress the spread and expansion of the poison, the pain was intense, and it felt like his bones were being slashed by a dagger again and again. If Yang Ling was an average person, he would have been long dead.
He felt a few drops of water hitting his face, and he opened his eyes in confusion. Seeing Yuna kneeling on the ground, her face covered in tears, and hearing the incantations, he realized what was happening.
Through the connection of their hearts, he knew that Yuna was prepared to burn her life force and soul using Sacrificial Magic in order to protect him. Out of anxiety he fought to stand, interrupting Yuna’s magic and scooping her up from the ground. He charged for the Unicorn with every ounce of energy he had left.
The Unicorn could read the situation, being a psychic high-level Magical Beast, and it raced to meet Yang Ling. It kneeled low to help Yang Ling mount.
Once seated, Yang Ling hugged Yuna tightly, noticing her mouth was full of blood. He had saved her in time, but she had suffered from the side effects of the Sacrificial Magic and was badly injured.
Just as the Unicorn poised to move, the black robed elder broke out of the spell formation, and his sharp dagger found purchase in the Unicorn’s haunch. It went numb instantly and collapsed on the ground. It convulsed, crying, and kept trying to get up, but to no avail.
“To think that you can suppress even the Dragon Tongue Orchid!” Flowing Venom laughed with surprise. He had not expected Yang Ling to be so strong. If it had been anyone else, even a Sword Saint or a Magical Tutor, they would have already exploded.
Flowing Venom came closer to Yang Ling, his dagger lifted high in the air. Yang Ling’s abilities were so unexpected. He was able to survive the Dragon Tongue Orchid’s poison, so who knew what other powerful abilities he might have up his sleeve. Flowing Venom recognized his advantage at the moment and wished to finish the job before anything else went wrong.
Yang Ling had already exhausted a large portion of his mental energy to suppress the terrifying poison. It might even be difficult for him to summon a few Horned Bee Beasts at that point in time, much less his whole Magical Beast army.
Yang Ling thought furiously, desperate for a solution. Yuna knew she no longer had the strength to prevent the attack, so she lay still in Yang Ling’s arms. If they perished there, she was satisfied that she would be able to return to the altar of the God of War, to the paradise of the Beastmen with Yang Ling.
Magical Illusory Spell Formation, Magical Beast army, space of the Wizard’s Pagoda…
Seeing the assassin approach him, looking at the Unicorn that had fallen to the surprise attack of the other party, then looking at Yuna in his arms, Yang Ling had a stroke of inspiration. Even though he was unable to summon his Magical Beast army to aid him in battle, he could take a gamble and send the assassin into the space of the Wizard’s Pagoda and order his Magical Beast army to attack him all at once.
Five steps, four steps, three steps…
Flowing Venom laughed coldly as he saw Yang Ling and Yuna, unable to dodge as they were. He had achieved perfect successes in his operations decades ago. His new mission, though decades later, was going perfectly.
But, just as he was about to slice Yang Ling’s throat, his vision went dark as he found himself in a mysterious place. He was standing in a boundless field. Far away, there was a crystal clear pond, a mysterious tower, and worse, a large group of bloodthirsty Magical Beasts attempting to surround him.
Unlike the Horse Spiders in the Magical Illusory Spell Formation, Flowing Venom could feel the intense threat coming from the Magical Beast army. He had not had the time to take out his poison when a fist-sized Horned Bee Beast charged toward him, fast as lightning, straight for his vital points.
He barely dodged the Horned Bee Beast that was engaging him in close combat when he met with a concentrated flurry of poisonous stingers. At the same time, under the command of a Flying Spider, Red-haired Tarantulas dug into the ground, and launched an endless wave of sharp Earth Spikes!
After having successfully transported the other party into the space of the Wizard’s Pagoda at the critical moment, Yang Ling heaved a sigh of relief. He took out all of the Magical Beast Blood Orbs from within his Space Ring and consumed them in mouthfuls, replenishing the Wizard Power and mental energy he had exhausted. Even though the Magical Beast army was powerful, he was still not at ease. He entered the space of the Wizard’s Pagoda after recalling Yuna and the Unicorn.
After getting Yuna and the Unicorn somewhere safe, he hesitated for a moment before deciding to dive into the crystal clear water of the lake. The richer the life force, the easier it was to suppress the terrifying poison within his body. He had a feeling that the water of the lake that had a close connection to the green life force would have immense benefits for his body.
Indeed, he had just jumped into the icy water when he felt a rich life force enter him. Even though it was unable to purge out the scorching poison from his body, he was at least much more comfortable. The blisters disappeared one by one, the skin on his body slowly turning back to normal.
Yang Ling was trying his best to recover, while Flowing Venom who had been caught off guard was busy defending himself, narrowly avoiding threat after threat!
Unlike Yuna’s Magical Illusory Spell Formation, Flowing Venom felt that this space was mysterious, filled with an obscure ripple of energy which severely limited his senses and speed. The closer he got to the mysterious tower, the worse the symptoms got. He could feel pain spread through him whenever he accidentally came into contact with the strange white fog, as if he had touched an extremely potent poison.
After inhaling the strange white fog, he felt an ice cold energy radiate from his body. Wherever the energy passed, he felt a sharp pain, be it in his muscles or his bones. In fact, his brain was no exception. It was as if he had suffered from a formless mental attack. Even as an expert in poison, he did not understand what was going on.
Could Yang Ling be a Domain Expert, and this is his Domain Space?
Sensing that he could not even muster half of his abilities, Flowing Venom paled in shock. One has only stepped into a new threshold when he reached the level of sage. In the eyes of an average person, a sage level fighter might seem invincible; But in the eyes of a Domain Expert, they were not even worth mentioning.
It was rumored that reaching the level of Domain Expert would allow one to understand a certain law and possess his own Domain Space. After unintentionally entering the Domain Space, even a sage level fighter would be akin to an ant, completely without any ability to retaliate!
His name had been so feared on the continent because of his impeccable poison techniques. Close combat, attacking speed and magic were not his strong suits.
Even though he had already reached the level of Lesser Sage, his abilities without his poison techniques were only comparable to that of an ordinary Heaven-ranked Assassin. Furthermore, his abilities were severely limited by the space of the Wizard’s Pagoda. At this moment, being pressured by the Magical Beast army, he had no chance to administer his poison techniques, and could only narrowly avoid all the threats.
At the same time, seeing the other party dodge from side to side, as if being extremely cautious of the white fog released by the Wizard’s Pagoda, Yang Ling had a thought. As he recovered his strength in the lake, he commanded the Magical Beast army to attack without stopping, forcing the other party back to where the Wizard’s Pagoda was.
Unlike Flowing Venom, whose abilities were severely limited, the Magical Beast army were like fish in water within the space of the Wizard’s Pagoda, their abilities far superior than during an ordinary day. After suffering from heavy injuries, as long as they did not die on the spot, they could slowly recover while they still had breath left. The light injuries were not even worth mentioning. The bleeding would automatically stop when enveloped by the white fog, and the wounds would recover in the blink of an eye.
