Chapter 215 - The Anima Snowy Mountains

The idea of building a biochemical army was good, but Yang Ling only realized how difficult it would be when he tried to implement it in reality!

He had only barely managed to produce three hundred Mandalas after purchasing a large amount of Siberian Gut Severing Plants at a high price, merely enough to equip a little over three hundred self destructing bats.

After consuming a Mandala, the Twin-legged Flying Dragon he had tamed could still move for about a hundred steps before it lost its ability to move. A hundred steps might be very little to an average Magical Beast, but it was enough for the speedy Twin-legged Flying Dragon to launch a fierce counterattack.

The Twin-legged Flying Dragons had powerful battle capabilities, and just the counter attacks from a few of them would inflict terrifying damage, much less the entire nest of them. It was still a big question if a line of defense made by low-level Magical Beasts like the Horned Bee Beasts and spiders under the Bloodthirsty Frenzy would hold up against their counterattacks.

Furthermore, Twin-legged Flying Dragons were very cautious and had exceptional defensive capabilities. Whether or not he could successfully get near to them and release the poison was another problem. The outcome would be disastrous should the self destructing bats be shot down by the Flying Dragons’ acid attacks while they were attacking. Three hundred Mandalas were far from enough!

If that was the case, he had to guarantee the success rate of the self destructing bats’ surprise attacks, try to guarantee that every Flying Dragon consumed two Mandalas, and ensure that there was no ability for them to retaliate.

There was a limited quantity of Mandalas, and there wasn’t enough time to mass produce the other poisons.

Even though Alice had improved by leaps and bounds, and had sufficient ingredients and ready-made samples, even with the detailed explanations, it was still hard for Alice to mass produce the poisons to equip his biochemical army quickly.

Other than the fact that the ratio of all the poisonous substances had to be very precise, the control of heat from the furnace was also critical. Anything, including the intensity of the fire and wind speed, or the rate of cooling brought about by the ice element magic spell, would impact the final product. It might only take a second of extra heat for the effects of the poison to change completely.

Alice only managed to produce a little over three hundred Mandalas, a few hundred bottles of Corpse Rotting Water and a few sticks of specially crafted Soul Robbing Incense after toiling for a full seven days, merely enough to equip over three hundred self destructing bats and a thousand tarantulas.

Just like the Mandala, the Corpse Rotting Water was a poison commonly used by Flowing Venom while he was alive. Yang Ling had given the full fifty bottles of the poison in the Space Ring to Alice as a sample.

As its name suggests, the Corpse Rotting Water had a powerful corrosive ability. Even though it was not a lethal poison, accidentally coming into contact with it would cause one’s skin to rot at a rapid rate. In fact, within a short span of time, the person inflicted by the poison would feel his bones soften, and would be robbed of his ability to move or fight.

The Soul Robbing Incense sticks were as thick as a thumb, and could release a colorless, odorless gas when it was lighted. The poison gas could numb the nervous system of the enemy and lower their reaction speed and ability to move. It was the best weapon an assassin had against a powerful target. In his notes, Flowing Venom had recorded an incident where he successfully assassinated a sage level fighter with the Soul Robbing Incense several decades prior.

“Brother Yang, can you postpone your departure, and begin your attack after I create a little more poison?”

Alice had been worried, knowing that Yang Ling was about to deal with Twin-legged Flying Dragons in the large snowy mountain in the Terras Forest. She asked her question while watching him preparing for the journey, and wrung her hands with worry.

“Relax. With the Mandalas, Corpse Rotting Water, and Soul Robbing Incense you created, there won’t be a problem!” Shortly thereafter, Yang Ling left with Goode, Ashnamov, Yuna and the rest, heading toward the lake where the Twin-legged Flying Dragons lived.

Even though it was a little hurried, Yang Ling was confident that he would be able to deal with a horde of Flying Dragons as long as he planned it well. There were still several important matters to attend to in the territory afterward, and there was no time to drag this on. He had to tame the Flying Dragons as soon as possible.

On this journey, other than able assistants like Goode and Ashnamov, he had mobilized a special team of elite warriors from Black Water City. Amongst them were a dozen Foxman Spellcasters, over a hundred Bullman warriors and fifty Medusas. They were led personally by the Fox Elder. The Ox Chief and Medusa Leader were tasked to guard Black Water City, in case any accidents happened.

Bringing along a large group of warriors with him on this journey was merely a precaution. The main forces of this mission were biochemical Magical Beasts like the self destructing bats equipped with the Mandalas, as well as the tarantulas equipped with the Corpse Rotting Water.

This was the basic biochemical army, relying on the suicidal surprise attacks of the poison-laden Magical Beasts. In Yang Ling’s imagination, a true biochemical Magical Beast would bring with it its own poison attacks, and could infect its enemy or prey with its attacks. It should also be able to enhance its abilities through training or massacring their enemies.

Of course, it was not possible, nor realistic, to achieve this in one go!

Yang Ling was satisfied that he was able to create over three hundred Mandalas, a few hundred bottles of Corpse Rotting Water and a few sticks of specially crafted Soul Robbing Incense within such a short span of time. Who knew how long it would have taken him to create the poisons without Alice!

Under Yang Ling’s lead, the group moved quickly. They trudged past treacherous terrain along the way, but arrived at the large snowy mountain deep in the forest safely a few days later.

“My god, could this be the legendary Anima Snowy Mountain?” asked one soldier.

“Half of the mountain is in the clouds. How are we going to scale such a tall, treacherous mountain?” said another.

The group marveled at the majestic mountain piercing into the clouds. The Anima Snowy Mountain was said to be where the Snow Goddess resided. The peak of the mountain was perpetually frozen and covered with thick layers of snow.

After recovering from his shock, the Fox Elder quickly came to Yang Ling’s side and said, “Sir, is the place we are going to on the mountain?”

“That’s right, there’s an alluring lake near the peak of the mountain, past the clouds. That’s where we’re going!” Looking at the warriors around him, then looking at the tall snowy mountain piercing into the clouds, Yang Ling knit his brows.

The route up the snowy mountain was treacherous, with large sheets of ice or cliffs everywhere they turned. Also, the air was thinner the higher they got. Yang Ling had no problem getting up himself, but it was much more difficult if he wanted to bring such a large group of warriors up the mountain.

Looking at the accumulated snow on the peak, recalling the legends surrounding the Anima Snowy Mountain, the Fox Elder hesitated for a moment and said, “Sir, it is said that the Anima Snowy Mountain is where the Snow Goddess resides, and no one has dared to go to the top of the mountain. Not many people would even dare to stay for too long at the foot of the mountain. Do you think that we should…”

It was rumored that the Snow Goddess had a foul temper, and those who dared to scale the large snowy mountain had all suffered ill fates. It was said that some had been turned into permanent frozen ice sculptures, some buried alive in the blanketing snow. There were even some who were said to have suffered from terrifying curses, and became walking zombies if they were lucky enough to survive. Unless there was no other choice, the Fox Elder was unwilling to take this risk.

Yang Ling smiled faintly after hearing the Fox Elder’s concerns. He did not believe such a ridiculous legend. But the snowy mountain was indeed difficult to scale. Yang Ling decided to leave a portion of the warriors at the base of the mountain and only bring up with him a small team of elite warriors.

Even though he could have brought them all up by bringing them into the space of the Wizard’s Pagoda, he was not willing to reveal his secrets until he absolutely needed to. After all, the domain of the Wizard’s Pagoda could be said to be the most essential thing he needed to thrive in this world. The less people knew of it, the better!

Using strong ropes and powerful wind element magic spells, Yuna, Goode, Ashnamov and the rest arrived at the lake surrounded by mountains together with Yang Ling in just a day’s time. They waited in ambush just outside the Flying Dragon Valley.

The best strategy in battle was to foil the opponent’s strategy!

Against the Flying Dragons and their powerful battle capabilities, facing them head on was the most foolish plan. Taking advantage of the surrounding terrain, Yang Ling instructed his Magical Beast army to set up a heavy ambush, hoping that nothing would go wrong.

The most critical items in this battle were his three secret weapons: the Mandala, the Corpse Rotting Water, and the Soul Robbing Incense. His main forces of attack were the self destructing bats and the tarantulas that had all tunneled underground. The Horned Bee Beasts, Evil Eyes and Unicorn would support them from the sidelines, and Ashnamov, Yuna and Goode would be the last line of defense.

After summoning a large number of Vampire Bats, Yang Ling ordered the Bat King to guide them in loitering around the lakeshore, letting loose and attacking the snow goats drinking from the lake. They were going to lure the Flying Dragons in the valley out. After giving everyone an antidote, he lit up a few Soul Robbing Incense bundles around the area, preparing for the battle to the fullest.

“Sir, I have a bad feeling about this. There seems to be an intense threat in the valley!” After closing his eyes and muttering a few incantations, the Fox Elder clutched tightly to his staff, worried. “What is our goal for taking the risk and climbing up this mountain?”

Even though they knew that Yang Ling was going to settle an important matter, no one, including Ashnamov and the Fox Elder, knew the true purpose of the journey. Only Yuna, who was connected to Yang Ling by their hearts, could guess what was going on.

As the news of the discovery of the Holy Dragon’s relics had spread, more and more mysterious figures had entered Wissen Town. There were a mixture of different people, from the newbies like the Dragon Slaying Troop Team to experts with abilities deep beyond comprehension.

In order to stop the news from spreading and invite the attention of others, Yang Ling had not told them the true motive for their journey. But, there was no longer a need to hide it now that they were here. After patting the snow from his clothes, Yang Ling calmly said, “This is a Flying Dragon Valley. Our goal is to tame all hundred of the Twin-legged Flying Dragons in this valley!”

The scalps of the group crawled when they heard Yang Ling say this, all of them swallowing with difficulty. They could never have expected their target for this journey to be over a hundred of the so-called overlords of the sky — the level eight, or even level nine high-level Magical Beasts, the Twin-legged Flying Dragons!
