Chapter 725 - Blade Emperor
“The reason we’re setting up the alliance is to take back our lost freedom. Freedom flows in the blood of every wanderer. All of us have freedom imprinted within our very souls! The stronger the abilities of a wanderer, the more he longs to freely wander across the various dimensions. The stronger the wanderer, the more he hopes to understand the secrets surrounding the laws of the universe!” The Starry Sky Castle Master Cameron continued after a pause, “In order to boost our strength, in order to one day achieve our common goal, we hope that every powerful wanderer can band together and be united!”
“Oh, to think that there might exist such a powerful alliance. I hope that you’ll achieve your goals one day!” Yang Ling smiled slightly. He understood the intentions of the Starry Sky Castle Master even without him having to elaborate. He said after a pause, “However, my life is carefree now. I do not feel deprived of my freedom and thus am not interested in joining your alliance. I’m sorry!”
The almighty Creator was the ultimate enemy of the Ancient Wizards according to the information he’d grasped. Yang Ling would naturally wish to face off against the Creator, who had abilities that were deep beyond comprehension, together with the Wanderer Alliance. However, as a precaution, he would not make a decision rashly.
He took a step back as a means of advancement!
Yang Ling had quickly come to a decision without having to think too much about it. If the Starry Sky Castle Master was sincere in his invitation for him to join the Wanderer Alliance, he would naturally produce an even greater incentive and further explain the situation to him. Otherwise, if he was forced to join the group, he might be sent to the front lines as a target or cannon fodder!
“Another Dimensional Wanderer might not be too interested in joining our alliance, but…” The Starry Sky Castle Master smiled with confidence. He shot a meaningful look at Yang Ling and Grand Wizard Houtu behind him, then continued, “A long long time ago, there was a saying in the various large dimensions. There are only Wizards who died in battle, not Wizards who surrendered. If you had chosen to surrender, the Ancient Wizards would have accepted the invitation of the Creator, and there would never have been a Great Battle of the Deities and Demons!”
There are only Wizards who died in battle, not Wizards who surrendered?
Yang Ling was alarmed. He looked at the Starry Sky Castle Master Cameron, whose words seemed to have a double meaning. He had mentioned the Ancient Wizards multiple times. It was obvious that he already knew of his identity. More importantly, it seemed as though he knew many things about the Ancient Wizards. Yang Ling might be able to obtain many pieces of insider information if he could find a way to get in Cameron’s good books.
“We can choose to cooperate if it is inconvenient for you to join the Wanderer Alliance. We can support each other in terms of information and resources. This way, we would both benefit!” The Starry Sky Castle Master Cameron deliberated for a moment when he saw that Yang Ling was a little hesitant, then offered an alternative.
He knew that a rare opportunity had presented itself before him once he realized Yang Ling’s true identity. He could only reclaim his lost freedom and accomplish the million-year-old wishes of the Alliance if he joined forces with the unfathomable Ancient Wizards, who had been said to have severely injured the Creator so long ago!
“All right. It is my honor to have met you, Lord Cameron!” Yang Ling smiled, no longer hesitant.
The search for Skyreach Towers, the destruction of the City Amongst the Clouds, and the fight against the almighty Creator required a robust set of information. The Magical Beast Divine Branch was still lacking in that area. The Wanderer Alliance, on the other hand, had been resisting the Creator in the shadows for a long time and had to have a great web of intelligence! It would be immensely beneficial for Yang Ling to cooperate with them.
They reached an agreement instantly!
…
Yang Ling followed the Starry Sky Castle Master to a mountain at the back of the Starry Sky Castle after they reached the agreement. They sat down in a secluded spot and discussed the details of the partnership. They talked about everything after they ate their fill, and soon, they became well acquainted with one another.
As it turned out, the Starry Sky Castle Master Cameron had reached the level of Dimensional Wanderer a long time ago and had set up a Wanderer Battle Squad with a gang of buddies. They fought together in battle, traversed the dimensions, and had freely learned about the mysterious laws of the universe.
One day, an accident had happened while Cameron and his squad were about to explore the deeper regions of the Unending Sea. A few envoys of the Creator had led a group of elites to launch a surprise attack on them. They unleashed a merciless massacre. Caught off guard, Cameron and his group suffered heavy casualties. After an intense battle, Cameron was fortunate enough to avert the crisis with the help of his captain’s protection and overwhelming speed. However, the friends who had gone through thick and thin with him had all died in a pool of blood.
“I only realized later that the almighty Creator was the mastermind behind the incident!” The Starry Sky Castle Master Cameron had a cold expression. He said slowly, “Thus, I joined an alliance made up of a bunch of top-notch Dimensional Wanderers without hesitation. It was many years later that I slowly became one of the nine Great Elders of the Alliance!”
“Elder Cameron, have you ever attempted to exact revenge against the Creator in all these years?” Yang Ling asked Cameron, then took a sip of ice-cold rum. He wanted to further understand the strength of the Alliance.
“No, the Creator has not appeared once since the battle at the Graveyard of Deities and Demons so long ago. All of his orders are carried out by the Creator Envoys under him!” Cameron explained.
As it turned out, the Creator did not do many things personally. Most of his affairs were dealt with by the Creator Envoys under him. According to the intelligence obtained by the Wanderer Alliance, there were a large number of Creator Envoys, and each of them had a clear duty.
Some of the envoys were responsible for guarding an area and would not take action easily. An example of this was the Heavenly Nun, who guarded over the God Prison in the Unending Sea. Not only would she not attack wanderers, but she would even extend a helping hand. This earned her the unanimous respect of the wanderers. Some Creator Envoys were responsible for traveling all around the dimensions to protect the so-called Universal Law. They killed anyone who broke these laws, and they were hailed as Adjudicators who had their nose in everything. All this time, the Adjudicators had been ones battling the Alliance.
It was rumored that since he had been severely injured by the Ancient Wizard elites, the almighty Creator had been living as a recluse to tend to his wounds at the Shooting Star Castle, located deep within the Unending Sea. Over the millennia, the Wanderer Alliance had gotten close to the mysterious Shooting Star Castle multiple times, but they were always forced back by the Adjudicators stationed there. They had not managed to successfully charge the castle even once.
“We had no choice but to change our strategy after we experienced multiple failures and lost a large number of elites. We no longer tried to force our way into the Shooting Star Castle, but instead attacked the Adjudicators scattered across the various dimensions. We hoped that we would one day be able to force the Creator to show himself and then find a way to get our rights back.” Cameron’s tone was dull as he introduced Yang Ling to the various aspects of the Wanderer Alliance’s situation.
“That’s right; I don’t believe that the Creator could tolerate it if we killed all of the detestable Adjudicators!” Yang Ling smiled. Even though the method used by the Wanderer Alliance had been born out of desperation, it was incredibly effective. The Creator had control over too many things and was too strict when it came to enforcing the laws. This meant that he had to rely on his Adjudicators under him to deal with many things. Killing a large number of Adjudicators was equivalent to clipping the Creator’s wings. It would leave him with no choice but to reveal himself.
“Yes, and it is for this reason that we need even more powerful Dimensional Wanderers to join our ranks.” Cameron looked at Yang Ling, then continued, “We have been searching for the tracks of the Ancient Wizards since the battle at the Graveyard of Deities and Demons, hoping that we could join forces against the powerful Creator. Unfortunately, we never managed to obtain any information over the millennia. To think that I could encounter you near the castle today!”
“Elder Cameron, actually, I am not an Ancient Wizard. I came from a faraway place in search of my tribespeople, whom I lost contact with a long time ago. According to the information I’ve gathered over the years, perhaps the Ancient Wizards that you speak off are my lost tribespeople!” Yang Ling spouted nonsense. He deliberated for a moment before he continued, “I heard that the Ancient Wizards had left behind twelve Skyreach Towers in the various major dimensions, but they have been sealed off by the detestable City Amongst the Clouds. Given the strength of the Alliance, is it possible for you to give me more clues?”
Yang Ling realized that the Wanderer Alliance was immensely powerful once he’d gained a preliminary understanding of the situation. They had men all over the land and must have an exceptional understanding of the Ancient Wizards. He might carelessly slip up if he continued the conversation. Thus, Yang Ling decided he needed a better excuse if he was going to try to get even more clues.
Tribespeople he had lost contact with?
The Starry Sky Castle Master looked at Yang Ling and Grand Wizard Houtu with surprise. He deliberated for a moment before he nodded, “If that’s the case, it’s no wonder that you do not know too much about the Ancient Wizards. Unfortunately, even though we have tried our best to search for the whereabouts of the Ancient Wizards over the millennia, we have not managed to gather very many clues. However, we do seem to have a record of the general locations of the twelve Skyreach Towers. I’ll get them from the other elders.”
“The other elders will reply in three days. Brother Yang Ling, why not stay here for a few days if you do not have anything urgent to tend to?” The Starry Sky Castle Master was extremely welcoming. As he spoke, he sent out a few magical messages to the other elders of the alliance to gather information about the Skyreach Towers. He then continued, “I am not too sure about the rest of the dimensions, but you have to be cautious of one person if you intend to search for the Skyreach Tower in the Order Dimension–the Blade Emperor. The Adjudicator Blade Emperor is permanently stationed at the Order Dimension!”
Adjudicator Blade Emperor?
Yang Ling raised his brows as he stared at Cameron and waited for him to continue.
“The Blade Emperor is the person guiding the City Master of the City Amongst the Clouds to become an envoy of the Creator. He is the person backing the arrogance of the City Amongst the Clouds!” Cameron paused before he continued, “According to the latest intelligence from the Alliance, the captain of the Flowing Cloud Battle Squad, who had been in pursuit of the City Master of the City Amongst the Clouds, was forced back by the Blade Emperor and a few other Adjudicators. You could potentially encounter the powerful Blade Emperor when you are seeking revenge against the City Master of the City Amongst the Clouds or searching for the Skyreach Tower at the Order Dimension. It’s best that you make preparations before taking action!”
Cameron looked at Yang Ling as he spoke, his eyes filled with anticipation. The Wanderer Alliance needed top-notch fighters. Having Yang Ling hunt down the Blade Emperor in the Order Dimension would be a good test of whether or not he deserved the assistance of the Alliance.
