Chapter 1296 - Data Synchronisation

Hearing what Fearless said, everyone pointed their middle fingers at him and scolded, “Touchwood! B*stard Fearless, shut your jinxing mouth! Don’t cause trouble for us!”

“Haha!”

Fearless laughed but did not retaliate. He was just mentioning it casually, as, regardless, he did not wish for Evil Rampage to be in any trouble.

After cutting communication with the outside world, Wang Yu was about to focus on his practice but suddenly, the system sent him a notification.

Notice: In 30 minutes, the system will undergo a 24-hour refresh. May all players please go offline in time, or you will have to bear the consequences.

The notice flashed three times in the sky. All the players began to scold, “What lousy game is this, why does it need to be refreshed every two to three days! How are we supposed to play!”

Actually, in the face of the players’ dissatisfaction, the game company was helpless too. As they had been using the newest virtual reality simulation system in <>, naturally the first time such a technology was used in a game would not be as smooth-sailing as games using keyboards and mouse.

Furthermore, even if it was a game using keyboards and mouse, when the server just opened, everyone’s level rose rapidly, such frequent refreshing of information was common. In addition, <> was a time-sensitive game.

The only difference was that in other games, players chose to refresh in the middle of the night while <> required an entire day to be refreshed. To not play the game for an entire day was unbearable to those gaming geeks.

Fortunately, Wang Yu was not severely addicted. Since he was not performing well today too, after seeing the system notification, he said his goodbyes to Quan Zhen Sect and logged off.

After going offline, Wang Yu practiced his martial arts for a while on the balcony. After returning to his bedroom, he saw that Mu Zixian had also logged off and was scrolling through the forum on her computer.

This was something Mu Zixian did whenever a refresh happened.

Every patch was different so no one knew what changes there would be with a new patch. As a professional businesswoman, she had to attain first-hand news to the best of her abilities.

Of course, everyone had just logged off and the game had not begun the refresh so there was nothing new.

Seeing Mu Zixian focused on the forums, Wang Yu went over to take a look then began laughing.

Other than posts scolding the game company, there was no useful post on the forum.

“Is this interesting?” Wang Yu asked puzzledly while pointing to the players who were venting their anger.

Mu Zixian shook her head and said, “Nope!”

“Then why are you so serious?” Wang Yu was even more puzzled.

“Look here!”

Mu Zixian stared at the screen for a while then pointed at one of the posts at the top of the screen.

Wang Yu looked at where she was pointing at and amongst the hundreds of scolding posts, there was one that analysed things.

“Prediction for this refresh!”

Mu Zixian held her mouse then casually clicked into it.

After entering, the post only had four words: Data synchronisation.

“Data synchronisation? What does this mean?” Wang Yu looked bemused.

Mu Zixian was equally confused too.

Data synchronisation was a professional term used in keyboard and mouse games so it was normal that Wang Yu did not know what it was. Basically, it was combining servers.

Because the past server had limited capacity, the game company had to open many servers, waited for some players to leave, then data synchronised servers with fewer players.

However, it was the most popular game now and had multiple servers functioning simultaneously so servers were already synced, so who was there to sync their data with? What rubbish.

Mu Zixian rebutted him and was about to close the post to look at others but in the corner of her eye, she saw the post author’s name: Arrogant Sky.

“Hmm?” Mu Zixian paused for a while upon seeing this ID.

“What’s wrong?” Wang Yu asked.

Mu Zixian pointed at the post author and said, “It’s him!”

“Who is he?”

“A famous prophecy expert.” Mu Zixian said, “He predicted many updates.”

“Oh?” Wang Yu looked at the ID amusedly then pointed at the words ‘Data synchronisation’ and asked, “Then what does he mean in this prophecy?”

“Merging servers!” Mu Zixian explained vaguely.

Wang Yu’s first reaction was the same as Mu Zixian’s, “Isn’t this game in just one server? Could it be merging 300 main cities into one big area? That’s pointless…”

Mu Zixian smiled and said, “Who knows… This is just a prediction, it might not be 100% accurate.”

“Makes sense!” Wang Yu nodded.

After closing Arrogant Sky’s post, the two of them browsed the forum for a while. After really being unable to find any useful information, they turned off their computer and went shopping.

The next day, when Wang Yu woke up, there was still another three to four hours before the game’s refresh ended. Just as Wang Yu was about to leave for a run, his phone suddenly rang. He picked it up and was surprised to see that it was Fearless calling.

Fearless rarely called anyone… So why did he call today?

After answering the call, Wang Yu asked, “Yes? Why are you calling me so early in the morning?”

Just then, Fearless replied, “Check out the most liked post in the forum! Something big happened!”

“???”

Something big?

After putting down the phone, Wang Yu turned on his computer then opened the <> forum.

Right at the top of the forum’s main page, there was a post with more than a hundred million likes… The post was simply titled: Information on this update. Post author: Planning Committee of <>.

“F*ck!”

Upon seeing the post, Wang Yu felt that his feelings were cheated. Damn, it was just an update announcement, what was so big about it?

However, once he clicked to see its content, he was instantly stunned.

The first sentence of the update ‘Data synchronisation’ and the new game map after data synchronisation was attached below.

Looking at this map and the update introduction, Wang Yu finally understood what combining servers was about.

It was combining China server along with the European, American and every other countries’ server together. Undeniably, the Soaring Dragon Game Studios spent a huge sum of money on this refresh.

Based on current technology, only the best globally could include players from all around the world into one server.

In the game, the world turned completely different.

The initial <> only had one mainland which was the one the players were on, known as the ‘Mainland of the Bravest’. Across the sea was the legendary Dragon Island and everything else was covered in fog.

After data synchronisation, the areas on the map covered in fog showed that there were two more mainlands and countless islands.

The one across the ocean was the American server, the ‘Mainland of the Lost’ and the one connected to the Mainland of the Bravest was the European server, the ‘Mainland of the Christ’.

As for servers in Laos, Korea and others, they were incorporated into the Mainland of the Bravest and became new regions…

Laos was the 16th region while Korea became the 17th region…

It was no wonder someone so calm like Wang Yu called him. To gamer geeks like them, global server integration did not only mean that there was a greater world out there.
