nRemarks: A descendant of a being from a civilization that once was, only to be forgotten by the sands of time. Confined for eons to bare metal walls, their semblance of humanity had regressed to an era far back into the past.
nBecause of it, these beings have become similar to those that dwell on the surface, though neither have made contact with one another. Perhaps, there is a way for them to be enlightened in their ways?
n————
nReading through the information given to him by the system in disbelief, Valyr continuously looked back and forth between the screen and the being that stood before him for quite some time.
n‘This being is… human?’ thought the young man to himself, finding it somewhat difficult to wrap his head around the idea.
nAfter all, from his first impressions of the being and what the system had mentioned in its remarks, the being before him looked quite similar to a primitive humanoid.
nHowever, after looking at the being for a bit more, Valyr gradually began to understand, taking note of the fact that the being in front of him lacked neither appendages nor organs.
nThen again, the length of the being’s nails still unnerved him, making for a somewhat eerie sight as the being currently stood hunched due to the narrowness of the corridor.
nNevertheless, the layout of the being’s information was the thing that sealed the deal for the young man, recalling that monsters and humans differed in the fact that the former had access to the tier system.
nOn the other hand, humans had access to the subclass system.
n“Man…” Letting out a sigh, Valyr moved the screen to his side as he gave the being named Vlrvadh by the system an intentful look.
nFeeling stared at by a being it did not recognize, it was no surprise that the fear in Vlrvadh’s eyes increased, preparing itself to escape from the place the very instant it could.
nFortunately, just as Vlrvadh expected the being in front of it to attack for no reason, the latter instead scratched the back of his head and stood in place as multiple thoughts started to linger in his mind.
n‘According to the remarks given by the system, this place could equally be an underground bunker in preparation for the apocalypse, or an underground housing complex for those that did not have much money on hand,’ inwardly muttered Valyr to himself.
n‘However, there is the possibility that it could also be both.’
nAt this thought, Valyr imagined in the past that the city on the surface was incredibly prosperous, though the cost of living there was unreasonably high.
nBecause of such high costs of living, the government decided to create a complex of living spaces underground that would be affordable to those that weren’t that well off, especially after multiple calls for actions had been done.
nFor a while, the city continued to prosper under this arrangement, with the surface and the underground consistently interacting with one another.
nThough, at some point in time, someone or something had caused the entire city to think that the apocalypse was near, prompting the underground housing complex to be turned into a shelter in preparation for the end of the world.
nHowever, since many people were already living underground, there was not much space for the wealthy anymore…
nUnless they did something.
n‘Which is why there are many smaller corridors that branch off the large corridor.’
nRecalling the numerous smaller corridors he had come across earlier, Valyr surmised that all of the wealthy people had been given accommodations on the walls of the large corridors.
nThen, those that weren’t well-off in life were forced to move to the smaller corridors, even though they had been staying underground for far longer.
n‘And then the apocalypse came, removing all forms of connection between the surface and the underground, causing those in the underground to be forgotten.’
nAt this thought, Valyr imagined many periods of unrest happening within these metal walls. After all, the apocalypse happening meant that even basic resources had become scarce.
n‘I’m guessing some people had risked to investigate the surface after the apocalypse in search of resources,’ thought Valyr as he rubbed his chin. ‘Though, I’m pretty sure such a decision was only made as a last-ditch effort.’
nEventually, deaths began to pile up in the underground area, reducing the demand for such basic resources as a balance of sorts was achieved.
nHowever, with such resources still being limited, the humans were forced to adapt, especially with the apocalypse on the surface still going on.
n‘Then, at some point, the apocalypse on the surface ended, allowing us to explore the city ruins without much problem.’
n‘However, with how long that must have taken, those in the underground have forgotten to check, instead adapting to their lives in their new surroundings.’
n‘Eventually, those people gave rise to people that only knew of the underground…’
n‘And that leads us to today.’
nThough Valyr reminded himself that his train of thought was purely guesswork, it still did not stop from letting out yet another sigh out of pity for the being that stood before him.
nStaring at Vlrvadh once more, the young man took in a deep breath before having a determined look at his face.
n“Can you lead me to your people?” asked the young man, utilizing exaggerated body language to make sure his intentions could be understood. “I want to help you out.”
nHearing the unknown being before it speak, Vlrvadh went silent for a bit before deciding to respond in what sounded like gibberish. “Tahw era uoy gniyrt ot yas? I t’nod dnatsrednu uoy.”
n“I want to help you out,” repeated Valyr once more, only for the being before him to respond back once again.
nSeeing that it might take some time for the two of them to come to an understanding, the young man let out a low sigh as he thought about how the other four were doing.
nThen, just as his mind started to wander off after that, a brilliant idea suddenly appeared in the young man’s mind, sending a friend request to the being in front of him.
nDing!
nHearing the notification sound resound in its mind, Vlrvadh took a few steps back as it curiously looked at the prompt that appeared before it.
nOn the other hand, Valyr clenched his fists in anticipation, hoping that the being would do what he wanted him to do.
nFortunately for him, after a minute or so of silence, Vlrvadh had pressed a button on the prompt before it, causing a pleasant notification sound to resound in Valyr’s mind soon after.
nDing!
nVlrvadh, the Forsaken Denizen (Lv. 90) has added you as a friend.
