Chapter 109 - Fall Silent

nQin Ran walked towards the room slowly.
nIt was nearly November and the sun was still strong, but it wasn’t hot.
nThe oversized school uniform outlined her extremely thin figure and exuded an inexplicable sense of coldness.
n“Why are you looking at me?” Qin Ran pushed the door open and came in. She raised her eyebrow when she saw Hao Dui and Cheng Mu staring at her.
n“Nothing.” Cheng Mu looked away and pretended to be casual.
nIt was quite strange.
nQin Ran ignored him, pushed open the glass door inside, and walked in.
n“Ms. Qin, don’t you have class?” Cheng Mu thought about it, looked up at her, and asked softly.
n“No, I took leave,” Qin Ran’s hand was still on the door as she said emotionlessly.
nCheng Mu lowered his head and said, “Oh”, then he stopped looking at Qin Ran and pondered over something.
nHis movements were slow and distracted. He was so deep in thought that he didn’t pour tea for Qin Ran.
nQin Ran didn’t notice him.
nThe school doctor’s office was divided into two.
nLu Zhaoying’s consultation office was outside.
nInside was a sofa and a desk. There was a chair in the corner and a soundproof glass door that separated the room from outside.
nQin Ran dragged a chair and sat down opposite Cheng Juan.
nCheng Juan was looking at a picture of the human body structure and raised his eyes. “Why did you come here at this time?”
nHe looked at his phone and it was 10:40 am.
n“Well, something happened.” Qin Ran put her hand on the table and laid down on it.
nHer eyebrows were drooping.
nHer eyes were droopy and she looked sleepy.
n“So you came here to sleep?” Cheng Juan threw the figure of the human body onto his desk and leaned back. “Are you not attending class, little girl?”
n“Why does a little girl need to go to class?” Qin Ran slowly adjusted her posture and said in a lazy voice, “Children are the same whether they attend class or not.”
nCheng Mu pushed the glass door open and heard Qin Ran.
nHis face was stiff and he thought to himself that Ms. Qin was rather self-aware to know that she would be the same regardless of whether she attended class.
nQin Ran was lying on the table with her eyes squinted sleepily.
nCheng Juan glanced at her, then turned to Cheng Mu and said in a low voice, “What’s the matter?”
nCheng Mu didn’t speak and just glanced subconsciously at Qin Ran.
nHe had come regarding Qin Ran.
n“Go out first, I’ll come out later.” Cheng Juan lowered his voice.
nCheng Mu responded and closed the door behind him.
nCheng Juan then turned sideways to look at Qin Ran, who was lying on the table. Her eyes were drooping lazily and she didn’t seem as casual as before.
nSomething was wrong.
n“Don’t sleep here.” Cheng Juan walked to the sofa, picked up his little blanket, and handed it to Qin Ran. Then, he pointed to the sofa and said, “Go there.”
nQin Ran nodded and slowly got up to pick up the blanket in Cheng Juan’s hands.
nThe weather in November was slightly cool, and Qin Ran’s fingertips felt a little cold when it brushed Cheng Juan’s palm.
nCheng Juan frowned slightly.
nQin Ran had just talked about it casually, but she really fell asleep soon after pulling the small blanket over her body.
n**
nCheng Juan gently opened the door and went out.
nEven with the soundproof glass door, Cheng Juan still subconsciously lowered his voice and said with deep eyes, “Check on the Feng family, I won’t be able to go for now.”
nHe said this lightly.
nBut the chill in his eyes made Cheng Mu and Hao Dui shiver.
nCheng Mu picked up the file on the side. “Okay.”
nBut Hao Dui looked up carefully and glanced at Cheng Juan, secretly horrified. So he had intended to go personally in the beginning?
nBoth of them went out.
n“What’s wrong, why are you standing outside?” Lu Zhaoying came in from outside with a few bottles of water. He had yet to take off his white coat but had unbuttoned it.
nAs soon as he finished speaking, he saw Qin Ran from across the glass door.
nShe was lying on the sofa, the black blanket covering her whole body tightly and leaving only a few strands of hair outside.
nCheng Mu grabbed the document and subconsciously lowered his voice. “Master Juan, I’ll go out first.”
nCheng Juan nodded.
nOnce he and Hao Dui left, Lu Zhaoying hung up his white coat and sat down on his office chair. “Master Juan, how… is the situation now?”
nHe lifted his chin to gesture inside.
nIt wasn’t hot at noon, and Cheng Juan leaned against the table as he took out his cigarette and his lighter. He squinted before lighting his cigarette slowly. “What?”
n“Don’t pretend to be confused.” Lu Zhaoying smiled and lifted his chin towards the sofa inside. “Qin Ran.”
n“Oh.” Cheng Juan bit his cigarette and squinted slightly. “She’s still in high school.”
n“Don’t tell me you don’t know that she retained for a year and is an adult already.” Lu Zhaoying chuckled sullenly. He laughed for a moment before correcting his expression. “But the Cheng family might not like it.”
nHow could Lu Zhaoying not remember how repulsive Qin Ran had been to Cheng Mu when he first came.
nHearing this, Cheng Juan chuckled lowly, bit his cigarette, and said, “You’re thinking too much.”
n**
nAt the same time.
nAt the Lin Corporation.
nLin Qi had been worrying about the Feng family and his company’s affairs had been stacked up. All kinds of documents were waiting for approval and were giving him a headache.
n“Chairman Lin, there is a phone call from the Feng Corporation.” The secretary’s desk was on the side and she looked up from her desk. “It’s about the contract.”
nLin Qi was stunned and he looked up in surprise. “The contract?”
nEven without the situation with Qian Jinyu, it wasn’t easy to cooperate with the Feng family.
nBefore Lin Qi had figured anything out, someone knocked on the office’s door. “Chairman Lin, Old Master Lin is here.”
n“Dad?” Lin Qi put down his pen and stood up. “Why are you here?”
n“I want to talk to you about Qin Ran.” Old Master Lin sat down on a chair, picked up the tea that the secretary had poured for him, and narrowed his eyes. “Are her computer skills good?”
n“She knows a little.” Lin Qi also sat down.
nHe had heard everything he knew from Ning Qing. As for restoring the surveillance footage, it might seem extremely fascinating to normal people, but in front of people who knew how to do it, it was actually very average.
nOld Master Lin raised his head. “Feng Loulan wants her to enter Feng Corporation. I just don’t think she’s such a polite person.”
n“Chairman Feng wants her to enter the Feng Corporation?” Lin Qi was a little shocked and even paused. “Then, did she agree?”
nFeng Loulan’s personal invitation held great importance.
nIn the long run, there were good developments and rare opportunities given, so most people wouldn’t reject it.
n“I don’t know, Chairman Feng didn’t mention it to her.” Old Master Lin was silent for a moment. “So I want you to pay attention to this matter, but I don’t think she’ll reject it.”
nThe two of them talked for a while before Old Master Lin stood up. “Oh yes, give me a copy of her details.”
nLin Qi had obtained details of Qin Ran’s background when she had entered the Lin family.
nWhile Old Master Lin waited for the documents in the lounge, he even asked Lin Qi for Ning Qing’s phone number and called her.
n**
nAt this moment, Ning Qing was sitting on the sofa with a stunned expression.
n“Mom, what did Grandpa say?” Qin Yu poured a cup of tea and asked when she saw Ning Qing’s stunned expression.
nNing Qing was still holding the phone and only returned to her senses after a while. “He asked me about Ran Ran.”
nOld Master Lin hadn’t mentioned it, but Ning Qing had caught the main point.
nHe was especially concerned about Qin Ran’s decision to join the Feng Corporation.
n“About… Feng Corporation?” Qin Yu pursed her lips and spoke unintentionally.
n“Yes.” Ning Qing was absent-minded, but her heart was beating fast. “Chairman Feng wanted to hire your sister, so grandpa told me to tell her about it.”
nQin Yu turned sideways and held the cup tightly in her hands. “Then, what did she say?”
n“I don’t know, I’ll ask her tomorrow at the hospital.” Ning Qing put away her phone.
nShe was smart and knew that Qin Ran wouldn’t pick up even if she called her.
n“Oh.” Qin Yu pursed her lips distractedly.
nBut she felt very irritable. What if Qin Ran really agreed…
n**
nCheng Mu and Hao Dui had already set off.
n“Is this the ward?” Hao Dui looked up and confirmed the information, then looked up and asked Cheng Mu.
nCheng Mu’s face was stiff as he nodded sullenly.
n“I already told you that Qin Ran would come to find Master Juan.” Hao Dui chuckled.
nCheng Mu didn’t speak and just lowered his eyebrows. There was a suppressed atmosphere around him as he raised his hand to knock on the door.
nAlthough he didn’t say it, Cheng Mu was still disappointed with Qin Ran and was in low spirits.
n“Don’t be disappointed.” Hao Dui raised his hand and patted Cheng Mu’s shoulder, comforting him. “Not everyone is like your goddess. We’re just accustomed to your goddess. However, Qin Ran is still better than ordinary women, so don’t expect too much from her.”
nThe two of them were talking.
nThe door of the ward opened.
nA woman of about 40 years old with short hair came out on high heels with her eyebrow raised sharply. “Yes?”
n“Ms. Feng, hello. We’re here regarding your son’s fight.”
nCheng Mu just opened his mouth when he saw the woman’s expression change. She said politely, “Oh, so you’re Ms. Qin’s friend. We intend to bring that stupid boy over to apologize to Ms. Qin tomorrow. We just don’t know if she has the time…”
nCheng Mu exchanged glances with Hao Dui and they both fell into an inexplicable silence.
n
