It was regarding Pan Mingyue.

Lin Jinxuan’s proposal was reasonable. Qin Ran thought for a while before agreeing to meet her the next day.

However, Qin Ran was busy, and they decided to meet somewhere near the Beijing University’s research center.

It was the first time Lin Jinxuan went to Beijing University since his graduation.

He stopped his car by the side of the road. Then, he got down and looked around.

In about five minutes, he saw Qin Ran come out of the physics laboratory. Her hair was messy because she just removed her cap, and she still had a wild look in her eyes.

It was like the first time they met years ago.

Everything changed, except her.

“You must have waited for a while.” Qin Ran put the letter in her pocket and nodded at him.

Lin Jinxuan was holding onto a jacket. Even though one of his hands was occupied, he was still charming. He answered, “It’s regarding Feng Ci and Mingyue.”

Lin Jinxuan was the most concerned with them. Hence, he knew everything that went on between them.

Even though Feng Ci hadn’t mentioned it, he had been drinking more recently. He even started to smoke again.

He had never thought that the two of them would break up because of others. Pan Mingyue was so firm in her decision to break up that he would have never imagined that she actually made the decision.

Qin Ran stopped him when the topic moved onto drugs and said, “Let’s get into the car.”

As they got in the car, Lin Jinxuan said everything after going through it in his head.

Qin Ran leaned back and closed her eyes after hearing the entire story. After a while, she spoke coldly. “Do you have time?”

Lin Jinxuan turned to look at her.

Qin Ran locked the car and replied, “We’re going to two places.”

She wanted to go to the mathematical department of Beijing University.

Lin Jinxuan knew about the other famous schools in Beijing University. He drove to the mathematical department without questioning her. Qin Ran shut her eyes and leaned on the seat during the ride.

Qin Ran put on a mask after getting off the car.

There were eight photos in the lobby of the mathematical department.

Lin Jinxuan looked at the first picture. It must be a picture of a famous mathematician, but he didn’t know who it was.

“That’s Mr. Rui Si.” Qin Ran introduced him. “He has solved a lot of algorithmic problems.”

Lin Jinxuan didn’t know much about the mathematical world.

Qin Ran didn’t speak and continued walking, stopping at the last picture.

That photo was the last and newest photo of the bunch. The person in the photo looked cheerful and full of energy. There was a mathematical formula at the bottom of the picture. He knew some of the symbols used, but not when they were in the formula together.

“This was a predictive model, and this person was the first to write it out. Although he didn’t prove it, it was a significant contribution to the physics worlds.” Qin Ran said, “He would have been able to prove it if he had more time.”

“He…” Lin Jinxuan suddenly stopped.

He saw the name of the person—

Pan Mingxuan.

“He’s dead now,” Qin Ran said calmly. “Let’s go.”

Lin Jinxuan followed her out of the building while still shocked.

Qin Ran got onto the backseat, shut her eyes, and said, “Let’s go to the Founders’ Hall.”

Lin Jinxuan turned on the GPS.

It was the first time he was at the Founders’ Hall.

Qin Ran took three white flowers, and so did Lin Jinxuan.

There were some sculptures and even some military personnel on duty.

Qin Ran went to three of the sculptures at the side.

She then placed the three white flowers in front of the sculptures.

She continued, “The one in the center is Mingyue’s grandfather. The ones at the side are her parents. Her dad was a narcotics police officer. Her family was captured after the 719 explosion because their information was exposed. Brother Mingxuan was tortured, and her parents were killed in front of her.”

Lin Jinxuan didn’t know what to say.

He just remembered that even though she had always been shy, Pan Mingyue spoke to everyone in the bar. “It’s their fault.”

“Why should she forgive them?!” Qin Ran asked as she turned towards him.

Lin Jinxuan was taken aback.

He never knew about this. He finally understood what was Pan Mingyue thinking of when she was deemed by everyone to be unreasonable.

After a long while, he pursed his lips, bowed three times to the sculptures, and said, “I’m so sorry.”

“You shouldn’t ask others to forgive if you don’t know the context,” Qin Ran continued. “Brother Mingxuan was so close to proving his formula.”

Qin Ran didn’t ask Lin Jinxuan to send her back. She stood at the door and asked someone to investigate Pan Mingyue.

Then, she got Cheng Jin to pick her up.

On the other side.

When Pan Mingyue went to the base in the neighboring city, only one room was left because of the packed schedule.

Luo Qian took the dog out for a walk and said, “Team leader, I can sleep on the floor tonight.” He then continued, “Are you showering?”

Pan Mingyue shook her head. She then opened her luggage and looked for her laptop.

As she was searching for her laptop, someone rang the doorbell. Luo Qian opened the door and exclaimed, “Captain Lu?”

Lu Zhaoying looked at him and frowned. “You guys are staying in the same room?”

Luo Qian explained, “There’s no other room.”

Lu Zhaoying didn’t say a word. He went to Pan Mingyue, put her laptop in her luggage, and then held her hands, saying, “Let’s go to my house.”

Pan Mingyue was silent.

Lu Zhaoying led her out, and Pan Mingyue saw quite a few people, but she only knew Old Zhang. Another lady was surprised to see her. Pan Mingyue remembered her as the person she saw at the borders previously.

“You guys can head off first. I’ll come over when I bring her back.” Lu Zhaoying nodded at them before holding Pan Mingyue’s hands.

They remained shocked until after Lu Zhaoying left. “Young Master Lu is bringing her to his house? Tong Yan, have you been to his house before?”

The lady didn’t answer him, but she glared at him.

Lu Zhaoying was usually crude. Even though the Lu family had a lot of real estates, he was always easygoing. Hence, even though Tong Yan asked him about it, Lu Zhaoying didn’t agree to her request.

It was strange.

Tong Yan looked at Old Zhang and asked, “Who is she?”

Old Zhang answered, “It’s Miss Pan.”

He left after answering her.

Tong Yan thought for a while. Then, remembering her name, she asked, “Pan Mingyue?”

“Yanyan, you know her?” someone asked.

Tong Yan answered, “She’s just an orphan. She works in the same place as Young Master Lu. She became a team leader after she graduated.”

The person was shocked. “I never knew that Young Master Lu had this side to him. No wonder he was so worried when he saw her car parked downstairs.”

He stopped after he saw the look on Tong Yan’s face and said, “But he’s not good at judging girls’ characters. This woman is just using him. I can’t get why he can’t understand this.”

At the clubhouse.

Pan Mingyue and Lu Zhaoying entered. There was already a crowd cheering inside.

Lu Zhaoying wasn’t curious. He brought Pan Mingyue to a corner and asked for a glass of milk from the attendant.

Only he and Cheng Juan would ask for milk at a place like this.

Even though Lu Zhaoying didn’t want to draw attention to himself, someone saw him and said, “Young Master Lu is here. Quick, take a look at this. Tong Yan hit your note.”

Pan Mingyue sipped on her milk and looked in their direction.

Lu Zhaoying took a look at the bill and said, “Remove my note, I’m not participating tonight.”

He wasn’t here for games today. His target was nearby, and that was why brought Pan Mingyue along.

There was a red dot on his phone.

Pan Mingyue knew what it meant. She placed the milk on the table and said, “You should go first.”

Lu Zhaoying looked at her and said, “Don’t bother about them, then.”

It was only when he headed out that the crowd dared to look at Pan Mingyue. Tong Yan then said, “Miss Pan, don’t be surprised. Young Master Lu often has to do such things because of his job.”

Pan Mingyue smiled and didn’t reply.

“How could Young Master Lu leave you all alone? He didn’t introduce you to us,” one of the guys said smilingly. “I’m Gu Mingsheng. I grew up together with Young Master Lu and Yanyan. Has he mentioned us before?”

Pan Mingyue only knew Cheng Mu and Cheng Juan. She never heard Lu Zhaoying mention anything about Gu Mingsheng before. She shook her head and replied, “I thought that his only friend was Big Brother Jiang.”

She never knew that Lu Zhaoying had other friends.

Gu Mingsheng asked. “Big Brother Jiang?”

Tong Yan turned away and continued holding a gun.

Gu Mingsheng didn’t continue. He then turned away and asked, “Yanyan, could you hit the money bag at the bottom?”

The others joined in the commotion as well.

They weren’t curious about Big Brother Jiang at all.
