Chapter 73

nThe crows would warn Rezen if they ever encounter a dangerous entity. Since Rezen knows where his crows are, if one of them changed their direction, he could guess that the crow encountered danger
n“Hmm?” Rezen raised his eyebrows. He gave some simple instructions to his crows
nIf the enemies are not something that their group could defeat, they would fly away. On the other hand, if the enemies can be defeated then they would stop moving
nThe crows although not as intelligent as humans are still more intelligent compared to many magic beasts. This type of simple instruction is within their limits
nRight now, Rezen sensed that one of his crows stops moving and from its location, the crow was near where the Wind Sparrows were fighting
n“Are they magic beasts that were attracted by the commotion?” Rezen thought
nIf there were already magic beasts that arrived at this early point, what more later?
nRezen cannot possibly defeat all of them and if he wants to lessen the competition, he must take down as many competitors as he could
nRezen had his crows fly around the area where the sparrows were fighting for some more time before he called them back
nSince there was only one competitor, Rezen must kill that magic beast before the others arrived!
nHe had the crows fly above him as he run to where the competitors are located
n“Earth God’s Armor!”
nRezen’s earth-type mystic gem flew out of his elixir field and he conjured a magic circle
nHis arms, chest, and legs were covered by earthen armor while a hammer formed in his hand
nIt was better to be safe than sorry and Rezen has to use magic with defensive capabilities quite early on
nWhen he arrived at where the competitors are located, he can see two people running to the area where five more people can be seen
n“Eh? They are not magic beasts?” Rezen stops in his track. If it were magic beasts, he would kill them without hesitation
nBut since they are humans…
nRezen still has some morals. He needed the magic beasts’ corpses but this much is not enough for him to indiscriminately kill humans
nBecause of that, Rezen wanted to say that they could split up the corpses but before he can even say anything, this group of humans already attacked him
nThe moment they saw Rezen, Crafty Snake and his subordinates instantly made their move
nThey are included in the evil and cruel members of the Twighlight Beasts. The moment they saw Rezen, all they think about was the wealth that he has with him
nThey also have the same mindset as Rezen, they would kill other competitors so that they would be the ones to enjoy this ‘pie’
n“Fuck, so unreasonable?!” Rezen said in rage. Here he was, trying to be kind to them but they actually attacked him on sight!
nHe was taken aback and he don’t even have the time to dodge the volley of magic spells fired at him. Rezen can only defend
nRezen’s space-type gem emerged from his elixir field as he hurriedly conjured a magic circle that soon blended in with the surrounding space
n“Heaven’s Gate!”
nRezen created a spatial portal and the magic spells entered it
nHe waved his hand and another spatial portal appeared above his attackers that released the spells they fired earlier
nThis group of people was also taken aback. They didn’t expect that a random hunter they encountered was actually a rare spatial mage
nAs such, one of them died while the other had a varying degree of injury
n“Kill!” Crafty Snake shouted after learning that Rezen is a spatial mage
nThat kind of mage is extremely rare and most of the time, they came from prestigious families. Even if Rezen is not part of such a family, he still cannot be left alive
nIf Rezen returned alive, he would either have his backing search for Crafty Snake and his subordinates then kill them
nIf not, Rezen can wait until he grew stronger and with his status as a spatial mage, many would want to recruit him. The end result would still be him killing them
nCrafty Snake knew how the world works and problems must be nipped from the bud
nA green mystic gem appeared from Crafty Snake’s elixir field as he opened his mouth and a green magic circle formed in front of him
n“Poison Breath!”
nCrafty Snake blew out air and from his magic circle, green poisonous gas was released, approaching Rezen
n“So vicious!” Rezen was a bit stunned. It seems like he was still not completely accustomed to this world
nTo think that the fellow humans he met in the mountain range would be this set on killing him as if he killed the seven generations of their family…
nIn this world, to survive, Rezen also has to be a bit cruel
n“Heaven’s Gate!” Rezen muttered coldly, showcasing the reason why spatial mages are sought for
nDepending on which direction they want to go, a spatial mage can either have strong offensive power, the best supporter, or a mage that is hard to deal with
nThe poisonous breath approached Rezen that conjured another spatial portal. He was expecting that the poison would enter his portal but Crafty Snake showed why he earned some respect
nHis wind-type mystic gem appeared on top of his right palm and in front of it was yet another magic circle
n“Breeze!”
nCrafty Snake raised his right hand and a surging breeze of wind was summoned by him
nThe poison breath that was originally flying in a straight line was suddenly dispersed
nRezen’s rank is still low and the spatial portal that he could create was not big yet. He cannot possibly cover his entire surrounding with spatial portals to completely block the poisonous gas
nWhile he can send some back to his enemies, he cannot completely be left unscathed
nAs expected, Rezen was also hit by poisonous gas. He managed to send some poison back but Crafty Snake’s subordinates took care of it
nEven a simple Breeze spell can disperse the poison and prevent them from being harmed
nInstantly, the veins on Rezen’s face popped. They were bluish in color and his complexion was completely abnormal
n“Surround him!” Crafty Snake ordered to his subordinates and six mages encircled Rezen and they all released their stream spell
nTo survive until now and earn the respect of his subordinates, Crafty Snake has some capabilities despite the lack of raw power!
n“Son of a bitch… this is why I said I needed experience!” Rezen said through gritted teeth as the stream spells hit his body
nInstead of feeling like they hit something, the six subordinates felt something was abnormal and indeed, that was true
nInstead of seeing Rezen dying, they saw his body suddenly moving and morphing in a disturbing way before he bursts into crows
n“Don’t panic, that’s the crow-type spell Crow Illusion Substitution! They are not real and wouldn’t harm you. He should be nearby, ignore the crows!” Crafty Snake shouted and all seven of them tried to find where Rezen is while ignoring the crows
nCrafty Snake was right, despite the crows attacking them with their beaks, the crows just slipped through their bodies as if they were ghost
nNow, their attention was on their surroundings, trying to see where Rezen is while ignoring the crows that flew above them
nWhile in the air, the illusory crows dissipated and Rezen’s newly enslaved crows finally showed themselves as they dove down
nWhile thinking that the crows were still just illusions, the members of Twighlight Beasts let the crows attack them which was their great mistake
nThe crows targeted their throats, pecking them to death. Blood spurted like arrows and six people died just like that
nThe only person that was left alive was Crafty Snake himself. His senses were more acute and despite thinking that the crows were just illusions, he still blocked its attack and that saved his life
n“Wow… you’re very perceptive…” A voice entered Crafty Snake’s ears and when he turned to the speaker’s location, he saw Rezen sitting on a tree branch surrounded by several crows
n“Y-you… how… y-you’re already a spatial mage… how can you also use your time to cultivate your crow-type gem to this extent?” Crafty Snake muttered in extreme shock
nAlmost every low-rank spatial mage would focus on spatial magic. Typically, only those at the 5th or 6th rank would delve and study another type of magic
nThis was because spatial spells are hard to understand and cast, not to mention, costly. Low-rank spatial mages have terribly few choices of spells
nIf someone is like Rezen that studied the Heaven’s Gate, their initial progress was only to enlarge the spatial portal or be able to create more at the same time
nThe mysteries of space were very profound and low-rank mages that would study space magic along with other types of magic is seen as stupid
nAs such, Crafty Snake didn’t expect that Rezen has such a high accomplishment on his crow-type magic especially since Rezen already has an Earth God’s Armor activated
nHow could he have so much time and a terrifying level of comprehension?
n
