Chapter 60 - A Tiger’s Butt

nIts snowy-white fur—which was spotless and free of impurities—looked rich, adorable, and beautiful. On its bottom were two tails trembling with its body.
nThe fox was currently looking at Wang Hu with shock and fear. A look of pleading and terror filled its eyes, and yet it was as if it didn’t even dare to open its mouth and beg for mercy.
nA fox spirit!
nWang Hu was rather surprised. He’d never thought that he would suddenly meet a fox spirit.
nFrom the looks of it, she was only at Transformation Realm-level, and yet she actually could transform into a human!
nWang Hu kept his guard up as he stared coldly at the fox as though he might pounce forward and end her life anytime.
nRoar~!
n“Who are you?”
nA cold and emotionless voice rang out. An obvious shiver went through the fox again, and she hastily answered, “Y-Your Majesty, m-my name is Su Ling. I’m a fox that’s cultivating nearby this place. Please spare my life, Your Majesty!”
nShe was still speaking Mandarin. As she spoke in her exceedingly timid voice, she actually burst into tears.
nTears flowed continuously from her eyes.
nWang Hu raised an eyebrow.
nNice name, but isn’t she a little too timid?
nIt made sense to him after he briefly thought about it, though. How many people could stop themselves from becoming timid in front of him?
nAs he listened to her sobbing, he became somewhat annoyed, and he soon glared at her and barked an order.
nRoar~!
n“Stop crying.”
n“Oh!” Su Ling, the white fox, immediately nodded and shut up, though tears continued to flow from her eyes. She gazed at Wang Hu, the look in her eyes timid and careful.
nRoar~!
n“You’ve made contact with China before?” asked Wang Hu coldly and aloofly.
nGoing by how fluent she was in Mandarin and how she even seemed to know who he was, it was evident that she had interacted with humans before.
nSu Ling hastily nodded. Not daring to dally, she quickly replied, “Your Majesty, the Chinese authorities found me half a month ago. They gave me a cell phone, and we also came to an agreement.”
nWang Hu didn’t doubt what she said. Although he didn’t know who the white fox was—neither had he seen anything about her being promoted online, China had made as many as over 100 announcements about various species of animals breaking through to the Transformation Realm over the last one and a half years. As a result, China had already stopped promoting news like that a long time ago.
nThe Multi-Species Department’s official website was the only one that kept a record of these animal kings.
nWang Hu wasn’t interested in looking at it as usual either, let alone when only half a month had passed since she made contact with the Chinese authorities. It was very understandable that he wouldn’t know of it.
nRoar~!
n“How did you transform into a human?” Wang Hu seemingly calmly asked as he suppressed the hint of emotion that had welled up within him.
nSu Ling hastily and honestly replied, “Your Majesty, I just somehow gained that ability after I broke through to the Transformation Realm.
n“It’s just an illusion type of special ability, though, and isn’t real. I’ll need to reach the Divine Body Realm and successfully cultivate a Great Dao body first if I really want to transform into human form.”
nRight away, Wang Hu’s eyes widened again—one could transform into human form at the Divine Body Realm!
nHad it not been for his rationality and pride suppressing his impulsiveness, he would have already asked her more about it.
nHis glare caused Su Ling, who had only just recovered the slightest bit of composure, to shake all over like a leaf again. Her voice trembled as she said, “Your Majesty, I’m r-really not lying!”
nWang Hu suppressed his fluctuating emotions. There was no hurry. He would eventually get to know about it.
nSilly Girl definitely knew much more about the subject than the white fox, too. He could just go back and ask her about it.
nAs for asking the white fox in detail about it, he found it rather embarrassing so he would just forget about it.
nAs he looked at the very pretty and also very timid white fox, a thought suddenly uncontrollably popped up in his mind, and his mind veered off sharply.
nWasn’t this a fantastic candidate for him to make into a subordinate?
nMoreover, it wasn’t limited to just a subordinate, too—he could even make her a servant.
nNot only was she timid, but she was also weak. As long as either he or Silly Girl was at home at any given time to supervise, she wouldn’t be able to make any trouble.
nTidying up the place, doing household chores, arranging furniture, collecting parcels, accompanying Big Treasure and Little Treasure as they watched their TV shows, bathing Big Treasure and Little Treasure, doing the laundry, giving massages, and even hunting and so on… she could do anything and everything.
nThe more he thought about it, the more suitable he found her. Where was he supposed to find such a wonderful subordinate?
nShe was practically heaven-sent.
nDelighted, he changed his tone of voice and became even more imposing and aloof.
nRoar~!
n“You know of me?”
nNot daring to dally, Su Ling timidly replied, “Yes, I do, I do. I got to know of Your Majesty, as well as Your Majesty’s family, through the cell phone that the Chinese authorities gave me.
n“Your Majesty is the most impressive, the queen is also the most beautiful, and the prince and princess are the most adorable.”
nHer reply startled Wang Hu. A thoughtful look surfaced in his eyes, and he sized up the timid white fox closely.
nHer timidness wasn’t fake, but beneath her timid exterior…
nIt didn’t matter, though. There was still no way she could make any sort of trouble.
nRoar~!
n“Fine. Since you know of me, then I’ll give you a way out.”
nGreat surprise and joy came over Su Ling’s expression at once. However, Wang Hu’s words that followed right on the heels of it caused the look of joy on her face to freeze.
n“From now on, you’re this king’s servant, and you’ll be in charge of waiting upon this king’s family. Understand?” said Wang Hu domineeringly and imposingly.
nAt the sight of Su Ling’s stiff and rigid expression, his eyes turned cold.
nRoar~!
n“You don’t want to?”
nIcy-cold might and killing intent made Su Ling tremble fiercely all over again. Without any hesitation, she immediately replied with a sob, “I do, I do. Thank you for sparing my life, Your Majesty.”
nWang Hu nodded slightly. He wasn’t concerned about whether the other party was willing or not.
nIn the law of nature, it was the strong that was revered.
nTo be honest, wasn’t this also the case even in China’s civilization?
nRoar~!
n“Get up. Follow me back home to meet the queen.”
nSu Ling nodded timidly and sadly. Immense regret filled her. Why did she have to come out today?
nWhy did she have to run into the demon lord standing in front of her?
nWhy?
nRoar~!
n“Do you have anything else that you need to do?”
nSu Ling started getting ideas in her head when she heard Wang Hu’s question. The next instant—however—that cold, imposing gaze descended upon her once more.
nImmense fear drowned out all of her little ideas all at once. At once, without even a second thought, she replied, “No, Your Majesty.”
nThen, as she sensed his gaze leaving her, she became filled with regrets again.
nShe should have looked for an opportunity to escape.
nRoar~!
n“What are you dilly-dallying for? Hurry up and move.”
nWang Hu took a couple of steps forward, but when he saw that the white fox was still where she was, his brows drew together at once.
n“Yes, Your Majesty,” replied Su Ling reflexively before she quickly followed after him.
nWhen she saw that the demon lord had turned away, a look full of grievances filled her eyes again.
nShe had watched a lot of Chinese television dramas during the last half-month.
nA servant!
nNo, a fox servant1.
nShe would definitely meet a very tragic end.
nBeaten, starved, worked to the bone until she was on her deathbed…
nAs she thought about it, her body started shaking all over from fear again.
nHowever, in front of her, Wang Hu became happier and happier, and he began to walk back home. He would just think about the remaining area to be searched again in the future.
nWhat took top priority now was the servant—no, the fox servant.
nHe would bring the fox servant back home and let her get down to work as soon as possible.
nThe thought of the sight alone was enough to put him in a good mood. He was going to be relieved of so much trouble from this point on.
nSilly Girl would definitely be very happy, too. With this fox servant around, both of them would be relieved of a lot of trouble.
nBesides, that white fox was really quite pretty. That snowy-white fur made even him feel an urge to stroke it.
nHer two-meters-tall stature also just so happened to suit his size.
nAfter a moment of hesitation, he gave up on the idea in the end. This was just the beginning, and they had only just confirmed their master-servant relationship. It was essential that he ensure that he stayed sufficiently imposing. He would just leave the matter about stroking her fur to another time.
nAbout half a day later, Wang Hu arrived back at home with Su Ling in tow.
nRoar~!
n“I’m back, Baijun.”
nA relatively happy Wang Hu, who had been busy at work for over two months, let out a soft roar as he gazed from afar at Silly Girl who was in the midst of cultivation.
nBig Treasure and Little Treasure, who were watching cartoons on the cell phone, looked over first. Delight filled their adorable little faces, but the next moment, they immediately looked curiously at the area beside Wang Hu.
nNearby, Di Baijun—who was in the midst of cultivating—cast a casual glance in Wang Hu’s direction in a seemingly somewhat annoyed manner.
nThat one glance, however, made her frown at once.
nHer eyes bore into the awfully timid and scared Su Ling next to Wang Hu.
nA fox!
nWhat did that jerk bring her back for?
nInstinctively, a cold glint flashed across her eyes, and an inexplicable sense of displeasure and wariness welled up fiercely within her.
nHer imposing gaze caused the nearby Su Ling’s legs to immediately go out on her. Terribly frightened, she subconsciously went nearer to Wang Hu.
nDi Baijun’s eyes narrowed at once, and hints of balefulness surfaced around her.
nIn a moment of joy, Wang Hu didn’t think much about all these. He shook off the trembling Su Ling and went toward the two little fellows pouncing toward him.
nRoar~!
n“Daddy! Daddy!”
nThe two little fellows, who had only seen Wang Hu for a scant few times during the last two months, had rather missed their father.
nRoar~!
n“Daddy, will you be leaving again?” asked Little Treasure happily.
nRoar~!
n“No, not anymore,” replied Wang Hu somewhat dotingly.
nRoar~!
n“Daddy, Mommy keeps being so fierce to Big Treasure when you weren’t at home,” said Big Treasure at once with an indignant look all around him.
nWang Hu almost burst out laughing.
nYour dad can’t do anything either if your mom’s fierce to you.
nBefore he could say anything, Wang Hu felt that familiar gaze from Silly Girl, and he looked over. Big Treasure who also seemed to have sensed it immediately wrapped his arms around Wang Hu’s leg.
nDi Baijun’s gaze swept across Big Treasure without much emotion before she looked at Su Ling. Then, her cold and aloof voice rang out.
nRoar~!
n“Where did you catch that piece of food?”
nSu Ling, who had just walked over a little closer, felt her legs going limp right away, and she almost fell limp onto the ground.
nShe felt like those eyes were even scarier than the demon lord’s, making her unable to form any thoughts of resistance as well.
n“Your Majesty! Your Majesty, the Queen! Please, spare my life!”
nAt once, pleading words left her mouth as tears flowed from her eyes.
nWang Hu blinked. The desire to watch an entertaining show somewhat arose in him, and he refrained from speaking right away.
nTrue enough, Silly Girl’s expression went from being cold and aloof to a furious one in a split-second as though someone had touched something that must never be touched, much like a dragon’s reverse scale2 and a tiger’s butt.
nIcy-cold might swooped up around Di Baijun, causing even the air to feel like a mountain was crashing down upon it. Like Big Treasure, Little Treasure also wrapped her arms around Wang Hu’s leg while Su Ling fell limp onto the ground straightaway.
n1 The Chinese term for ‘servant’ is literally ‘human servant’. Here, the author has changed the character for ‘human’ to ‘fox’
n2 It is said that Chinese dragons have one scale that grows in the opposite direction to all the others at their throat, and they dislike people touching it. Touching it enrages them.
n
