Chapter 628 - Night Metropolis

It was already evening when Jiang Liushi’s tour bus reached the military base. After absorbing and refining the mutant nuclei’s energy for the whole day, Jiang Liushi reached his best state.

After entering the military base, Jiang Liushi felt more like they were driving inside a night metropolis rather than a base. Because of the existence of American soldiers, many Japanese had also gathered there. There were no high-rise buildings in the base. The only high buildings that could be found were three-floor shops and shopping malls.

After doomsday, almost all of those shops had been turned into bars, casinos, and businesses with pink or red neon lights. At the doorsteps of the said businesses were often a few girls, who were well-dressed. They were glaring at the passersby with a hint of lust. It was obvious that those said businesses were brothels. In this post-apocalyptic world, those kinds of business had become the new normal.

What surprised Jiang Liushi was that the metropolis had electricity, and judging from the lights’ intensity, they had plenty of it.

‘Could the aircraft carrier be supplying electricity?’ pondered Jiang Liushi in shock.

It was a possible scenario. After all, America’s Nimitz-class and Ford-class aircraft carriers were nuclear-powered. A nuclear-powered aircraft carrier was equivalent to a mobile nuclear power plant, and it could easily sail on water for 20 years. The power of an aircraft carrier was at least equal to the power supply unit of several hundred thousand kWh, which was more than enough for a small city of more than 100,000 people.

As a matter of fact, in the history of America, some similar incidents could be found. For example, during the period of President Herbert Hoover’s administration, Tacoma faced a power crisis due to drought. President Hoover immediately ordered an aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Lexington, which was in the area to head there and supply the city with electricity. This operation lasted for a whole month. Since then, after encountering natural disasters such as earthquakes and floods, the usage of aircraft carriers to supply electricity became a normal occurrence.

Although it was hard to maintain the aircraft carrier after the virus outbreak, it was possible for those who had the know-how to connect the cable and make the aircraft carrier to supply the needed electricity.

“These American soldiers are really indulging themselves in their carnal desires,” said Jiang Liushi while observing what was happening outside.

From time to time, a few American soldiers would go in and out of the brothels with bottles of alcohol in one hand and a woman in the other. They seemed to have completely forgotten that they were living in a dangerous world.

“Americans like to play and enjoy,” explained Ran Xiyu suddenly.

Ran Xiyu had spent quite some time in America for her studies, so she knew about a few things about America’s history and culture. In most people’s eyes, American life could be summarized with four words: endless parties, carnivals, and sports. Even high-school students enjoyed playing sports such as ice hockey and rugby. Not to mention that Americans loved from a young age to enjoy life to the fullest.

On the other hand, Chinese people’s lifestyle was totally different. They were always working diligently and saving money to buy a house, raise their children, and support them for when they got older…

It seemed that even after doomsday, the Chinese and American lifestyle was still different. Back in China, at least those that were not corrupt or succumbed to their dark side, they were struggling to do their best and improve. They had quite a strong sense of crisis, which probably stemmed from the lack of everyday essentials such as electricity. As for the Americans here, they seemed lax and to indulge themselves to their desires.

Jiang Liushi even saw a young man putting a stack of money between a beauty’s breasts, which roused her. The young man did not look like a strong paranormal, and Jiang Liushi speculated that he didn’t even own lots of money. Instead, he was used to being a spendthrift.

After driving around for some time, Jiang Liushi spotted a large shop selling all kinds of weapons and other commodities. Thus, he told Ying to stop. Above the big shop was an American logo, which indicated that it had been established by the army.

As soon as they got off the tour bus, someone whistled at them. Jiang Liushi fixed his eyes on a man, about 1,9 meters tall, with stout muscles, and he also had a holstered gun. Jiang Liushi found out that the man actually whistled at Ling. She was wearing a black leather coat, which boosted her already hot figure and aroused that man.

Ling’s expression changed, and she immediately touched her dagger.

“Sister Ling, don’t let his behavior bother you. After all, we are here to purchase things. If he agitates you again, you can kill him. Actually, Americans are greatly polarized. Some elites are excellent in almost every aspect, but some of poorer background can be utterly disgusting,” said Ran Xiyu. She had experienced a lot of catcalls back in America, so she knew better how to act in such a situation.

Ling didn’t say anything and just nodded.

Jiang Liushi touched his chin. He felt that leading such a group of beauties in such a place was indeed quite dangerous. Fortunately, none of them were weaklings and could fend for themselves.

Jiang Liushi and the others entered the shop and looked around. It was as he had pictured it, a gun shop with a plethora of rifles, machine guns, grenades explosives, and even rocket launchers. There were Special Forces equipment, katanas as well as Japanese combatants searching for optimal weapons.

Naturally, there were also plenty of mutant nuclei, but unfortunately, none of them were level-2 ones. Jiang Liushi was not interested in level-1 nuclei.

“Well… this is…” Just as Jiang Liushi was thinking that there was nothing worth to be bought, a huge crate caught his attention. He went before the shelf and was surprised to see a six-barrel machine gun with a large body and metallic texture. In fact, it could no longer be called a gun. Its 20mm caliber barrels changed its category to rotary cannon. It was actually an M61 Vulcan Gatling-style rotary cannon!

That weapon was generally mounted on fighter planes. It weighed 120 kg, which made it impossible to carry it around, and its rate of fire was 6,000 bullets per minute. The power of each bullet was far superior to the Barrett. It was almost impossible to find such a super weapon in gun shops. However, everything had changed after doomsday. Thus, it was now sold in this shop. It may also be possible for strong paranormals to control it now!
